That'd be "You Made Me the Thief of Your Heart". Jim Sheridan was born in Wicklow but grew up in Dublin's North Inner City.
I suspect they’ve been playing a breakdown loop all night. I was listening last night for a few hours and at 7:00, it faded out into silence for about a minute and continued playing music. They’re playing the same songs this morning.
edit: and a very abrupt cut into Will Leahy’s jingle added to my suspicions.
The Pat O'Mahony show "Off the record" where he delves into peoples record collection in their homes (Dave Fanning today) was back for a 2nd series today 6pm. good show. they should really re-play it on Radio 1.

Pat James also presents a program called "Off the Record" on Radio Nova's digital station Classic Rock! Come to think of it, that might not be a bad program for RTE Gold if he ever parted ways with Nova.
Rte gold play a lot of Chris De Burgh. Seems to be Ship to Shore, Don’t Pay the Ferryman or Borderline nearly every other day.
what’s happened to Rick? Carol Moran on today at 1pm live
Holiday ?
The seeking of one thing finds another as the saying goes, I just looked up the RTE Gold EPG and it says Rick is back the first Tuesday of June and Carol Moran will then be hosting Drivetime on Gold 4 to 7pm
She sometimes presents the occasional nightly programme "Playback daily" at 2am. I have heard her on continuity duties also. Though not very recently.
Is Drivetime a permanent show? Surprised they haven't got an ex-2FM presenter on board for this.
Really? That'll be nice to have a presenter on after Rick, rather than a playlist.
When you Include weekends, they now have more presenters then Sunshine 106.8
The "playlist" is the best show on RTE Gold for music !! A presenter could ruin those slots.
Great to hear they are adding another presenter, my entire work day will covered. It makes a huge difference to me to have a human picking the music rather than the iPod on shuffle complete with gaps between tracks you get with the automated programmes.
I dont think this presenter will be picking the music, having said that there is no need for a presenter in this slot as the playlist will be dumbed down with overplayed hits. Will it be live I wonder ?
Carol moran always had a nice presentation style when she filled in on late date and rising time
Good choice - looking forward to hearing Carol on GOLD
Will she be voice tracking like all of them?
interesting development. I would say Ronan probably does no more than 25 minutes a day voice tracking so if she does it cant be more than that. As for the schedule well that's probably already done by Rick or Will on autopick or whatever the term is for computer picks these days.
Question..
Is Will the only DJ who does not Voice Track on RTÉ GOLD…must be as he is there.
rick normally is live from donnybrook most days
Will's show is only live from 7:30 to 9. I've heard the odd occasion where I think the first half hour is live, such as the morning after a major news or sport event, but it usually isn't. The last hour from 9-10 is always voicetracked.
remember a year ago Aidan leonard experimented with presenting live the 7pm to 10pm ("20th century gold") shift live for a week or 2, but that didnt turn out to be a permanent fixture.
I remember Niamh McManus doing a stint on the drivetime show a few years back but I don't think that lasted long either.
its run on a shoestring budget so unless Carol is an RTE employee with nothing else to do i cant see how they are actually going to afford to pay her for a full time gig
I know what you mean, I like the playlists a lot of the time, and the randomness of them, but I do like the Human Voice touch for a part. As Briian CivilEng said, it's my working day covered now, plus making the dinner!
i think those on radio 1 continuity duties (mostly at weekends, as theres no continuity during the week) is an RTE staffer
Gold’s 100 Pride anthems all day but without ever saying what Pride is about!
at least Amanda is making an effort. Rick and Michael not putting any context into the choices.
New jingles and station voices today. Paul McLoone the male VO
Any chance that Paul McLoone will be doing some presenting on RTE Gold?
unlikely if they are using him as the voice of the station
