Id say the issue is that it wont always be Ukrainian families in there, will eventually be ipas.
I wonder how many people actually know that this unofficial site is even there, and from the few that do know, how many of them would actually protest? . Then you have to consider there are only a handful of very vocal protesters at the Hayward rd. I'd be of the opinion that the people that do know about the Kilganey site, none of them would be up in Hayward Rd protesting.
Of course this doesn't mean that the Kilganey site should be left go ahead with out proper authorization.
The protesters say they won by peaceful means and the developer is gone yet it was violence that drove them away. Violence the protesters say was not them. Yet they take credit for the outcome.
Taking credit for someone else's violence and saying it was peaceful takes some twist of cognitive dissonance
Agreed. I mentioned it to a few and the response was that there was no way something like that would be built there as its a wealth and promenadant area.
..
For where?
Does anyone know anything about this:
TLDR: the British Taste Awards judging panel has moved to "Clonmel" this year because of Brexit restrictions complicating the import of fresh foods into the UK
was there many at the protest on Saturday?
I passed O Connell st/Main Guard area around 2.50pm, there was a few people gat9under the Main Guard, at a guess I'd say 50ish give or take. It was starting to rain then, so that might have had an impact on numbers. I didn't hear anything about it after that.
I see houses in clerihan getting egged now
Glass taken out of the bottle banks and smashed all over the car park this evening too. School had a show on and load of parents drove over it.
need cctv there . Also usual summer activity starting with modified cars park up late in community hall , should at least be sensor lights on the wall if not cctv or the gate locked at night . Definrtly need speed bumps in village the speeding is a joke at all hours of the day .
I see we could have a local MEP later this year. Mairin McGrath has been named as first Sub for Michael McNamara in the European elections. Bookies have McNamara one of the favourites to take a seat in Europe and the Irish Times said last week that apparently he is talking about running for the Dail again later this year. That would see Mairin made an MEP. Tom Hennessey would probably then be co-opted to take her Council seat, if he doesn't win one of his own this time and assuming she keeps her own one which looks certain.
So there is a good chance this time next year the McGrath machine will have Mattie in the Dail, Mairin in Europe and Hennessey in the Council.

I didn't think Tom Hennessy was in with much of a shot to get in? Not my LEA so I can't vote in Cahir but he would be bottom of my list of candidates. He doesn't seem to have a clue of actual protocol, public sentiment or how any of the systems work.
What public sentiment? Talks alot about immigration which is a hot topic.
He is close with Mattie McGrath. Never made sense why he was running against Mairin. She will comfortably hold her seat but not with enough votes to bring him in as a full on running mate. But with the news that she might get McNamara's seat in Europe it starts to make sense. The party/grouping who lose the councillor can co-opt a replacement. So the McGraths can co-opt Hennessy to their council seat and say it was because he was the people's second choice in that little cohort of independents.

There's just no end to this blight
It does make sense from that perspective . I know he's not particularly popular in his own local area so it's kind of ludicrous that, even if he got a tiny percentage of the votes, he can still get in. Especially when there's no actual party involved.
What area is he from originally and why is he not popular? Moloney, mcgrath and probably anglim , all to play for last seat then, murphy could be under pressure.
has anybody got a link to all the candidates in local election in Clonmel . Am new to the ballot box here and need a refresher what they stand for ?
Here you go!
All established cllrs running again with exception of two young Sinn Fein candidates, Teresa Johnson (works with Seamus Healy & Pat English in WUAG) and Dee Dempsey (who believes in fairies and all sorts of other nonsense)

How many seats in Clonmel LEA?
6 in total
11 candidates for 6 seats. But there aren't many dead weight candidates in there. It's assume English and Murphy are safe. They have the profile around the town. There is probably a Sinn Fein Seat but not the two they would have hoped for as English will take a lot of the vote they would get elsewhere. That leaves 3 seats and it will be a hell of a scrap for them. Could see either or both Molloy and Ambrose losing their seats.
I'd say Dean McGrath will take the one for SF, if they get one. Decent head on his shoulders and well known around town.
Ambrose should be in danger. She doesn't reply to emails of constituents and just seems to show her face for photo ops. But the die hard FF voters have no other option so she might get in that way.
Molloy seems like a nice fella but I don't think he will fare well with all the modular homes debacle atm. Crap time to be the mayor, in fairness. I wonder will Fitzgerald get a lot of the Clerihan vote? Dennehy probably not in with much of a shout, other than transfers, maybe.
Cllr Murphy and Pat English past the post already, Dean McGrath of SF should get in(never heard of the other SF candidate) - John Fitz on transfers then who knows out of the other 2 seats(only time that have seen Ms Ambrose is promoting either the town bus or proclaiming that the town is thriving)
Richie Molloy is a very nice and helpful person.Takes time to respond to queries.Sort of person wanted on local councils.
what party is he now? Hes been with them all.
I’ve never heard of Dean Mc Grath to be honest. Is he from Clonmel?
