Thanks for all the reply’s everyone, much appreciated.
You’re right, it looks very like those Mazda 121’s
Pretty much 1:1 copy alright. Four identical cars below.
Image of it 🫡😃
Amazing skills! 😀
Nicer than the cybertruck???😳
The guy who designed the Model 3/S/X/Y (Franz von Holzhausen) joined Mazda as chief designer in 2005 before joining Tesla in 2008.. There were a lot of similarities between certain Mazda's and the Model 3.
You’re right, didn’t know that, makes sense, you can see the Mazda influence.
All in the name of aerodynamics and efficiency. He done well with the CoD being so low.
…and COD only has one real shape so all these cars will be similar with low front end and fatter rear over back wheels
Hi all,
I have finally been moved to a night rate electricity plan.
This might be a stupid question but if I plug in my charger at 11pm to charge to 95% (as Ohme charger tells me it will), will the charger stop at 95%? In other words, it won't waste electricity (and money!) past that point?
I appreciate that the battery can't take more than 100% but does that stop the charger trying to put electricity into it?
New to all this!
Thanks!
It's 12midnight at this time of the year, your EV settings will determine if it stops at 9AM when night rate is over, some will, some won't, some chargepoints do it, some don't
You cannot fill up more what is already full.
If the car is set to charge to 95%, then at 95% it will stop charging, and no more electricity is consumed by the car/charger
If you've a smart meter it's still 11pm as far as I'm aware. It knows about daylight savings and adjusts the clock.
No, it's midnight to 9am, this has been covered a few times, there is no difference between an "old" meter and a "smart" meter if you are on a Day/Night plan
I thought the opposite (reverse teardrop) was the optimum shape for COD? Fat bulbous front, speedtail rear.
I'm not sure if what you are refering to as a Day/Night plan is different to a smart plan, but they just mentioned a night rate plan so it may need to be clarified.
I have a smart meter, with a smart plan, with a night rate and an EV rate. I am pretty certain the time was updated along with daylight savings and can see my usage alligning with my correct times in the bill.
The op most likely has a legacy day/night (non smart) plan.. like me, and I was switched over to a smart 'day/night' meter a few months back, and my plan/times remain the same.. so current cheap period is midnight to 9am.
So I now have a smart meter, but I do not have a smart plan.
Yes, I am, the point I am making is that if you have a SM and on a D/N plan then the night rate shifts an hour along with daylight savings, exact same as it has done for years.
If you have a SM and on a "smart" plan then it's whatever your provider says….
That would an extremely poor user experience and fairly senseless to the point of smart meters and their automation.
Ours stays the same time frame for day night. The user doesn't have to do a thing no change in habit. The meter shifts according to the DST hourly change.
My wife says that we have a smart meter and the time to charge is 11pm to 7am.
Thanks for replies to my query!
I alway set mine to charge from midnight to 8am. No need to change settings any time of year. Not unless I take a smart plan with my smart meter.
1am for me…. As even if completely empty and going to 100% it would still be done by 8am
Question on rotors and discs. My rear rotors are rutted from the pads, due to irregular wear or they being worn out at near 50k km. I hadn't spotted it until today but could hear the grating sound even when not depressed and after significant use (i.e. no rust). There is a 32 day wait for a service in Sandyford. Do you find regular garages reliable for this sort of work where they might need OEM replacement parts or is it best to just wait it out until late June?
If it's under warranty still and you didnt mind a drive, you could edit the ticket and see what the wait times are for Belfast or Limerick.
Lots of garages should be able to do the repairs but you would have to ring around and see who has parts in stock or what the lead times are.
Might be easier to wait. Assuming car isn't dangerous atm.
Pads and discs can be done by any half decent mechanic or at home with the relevant tools and experience.
I’d be worried why you have so much damage though. I’m at 47k km (2020 car) and no noticeable wear.
It's out of warranty now, few months back. Have booked it in for Sandyford for now. Brakes work fine but the rotors might need replacing if they are considered too worn, along with pads.
Absolutely no reason a main dealer should be doing that job. Will be done quicker and for half the price n an independent. There’s nothing special about a Tesla or any other EV in this regard.
If you're hearing grating when brakes are not applied there could be stones or something foreign caught in between disk and disk shield.
As above any independent should have zero problems addressing this
I had a e39 BMW many years ago and the amount of stones that used to get caught between the dust shield and brake disc was madness. I had the wheel off many times. It was just the one wheel though and never had a car like it before then or since. I think the culprit was the gap was too big which allowed small pebbles to get stuck on that particular wheel.
