Anyone subscribe to this? The website is fairly poor but it seems like you can't watch many games, but does have the facility to watch old All Ireland Finals which i'd be interested in.

I make it 37 live men's matches in 2024. When you consider that there will be coverage of 9 camogie matches, which weren't covered in 2010, that will be an increase over 2010.
The annual exaggeration of the good old days of all matches on free tv continues.
So RTE wouldn't pay for the rights, but GAAGo (which is part-owned by RTE) would? Something fishy there I think
There's lot of hurling being show, in fact every hurling game is being shown. The issue is that it's being shown on a subscription streaming service, not that it's not being shown

One is RTE giving money and the other is RTE making money.
They obviously made a decision on how much they could afford to buy and at what value and decided 1 package free to air was all that was worth it but they could do more but through a profit making service.
I'm not a big fan of Gaago or the old Sky deal but I hate it a lot less than I hate the "won't somebody think of the old people/volunteers/crap with computers people" crowd. The fact that politicians are getting involved is just pathetic.
Last year, it was - all these games wouldn't have been shown at all without GAAGO.
This year- These are the matches that will make us the most money to put back into the GAA.
The production and camera work at these games on GAAGO is woeful. To solve this, there will be a price hike sooner rather than later.

But what is happening here, is a way to harness Munster hurling money for the GAA outside Munster. They can't get at the Munster gate receipts. But if they put Munster hurling behind a paywall they can milk it and then you can put it into Ulster and Leinster football and so on. They can't do that otherwise. With income of almost €11 million including provincial senior hurling championship gate receipts of €5.391m, Munster GAA recorded a €3.2m profit in 2023 prior to funding. After directing €2.65m in operating, capital and club development grants as well as depositing €1.75m in a strategic investment fund, the provincial council had a deficit of €1.177m for the year. However, Munster GAA’s retained earnings are €7.548m. They have just over €5m in Croke Park’s loan and deposit scheme and close to €5m cash in hand.
What did Burns say production costs for GAAGO were? 4 million? That's about 3 or 4 concerts at Croke Park.
What's to stop Munster Council running something like GAAGO on its own? Croke Park, I'd imagine.
Anything that involves RTE ends in disaster or scandal or both.

I would think that RTE will make a lot of money from the broadcast of GAA games through advertising revenue. If they can't they are doing something wrong
Politicians are only getting involved because there are European, Local and Mayoral elections around the corner. There's also tax money being paid to the GAA so questionable if GAA-Go should be a free or subscription service from that point of view. That gives them a platform but they said very little last year by comparison

Well, I'll only respond to you once because it's a waste of my time. You don't understand how the gaa works. Like for instance, it's much more than 32 counties. Also, when it comes to county boards and revenue, it's every one for themselves. Always has been, always will be. Dublin and Limerick have astronomical budgets.

This is nonsense. Ulster football can pay its own way, if any of the Munster money makes its way to the northern half of the country it is probably to support hurling there and that is appropriate.
Politicians are getting involved because of the election and it is not insulting to say so. It would be much more insulting to say that politicians couldn't work out the numbers for themselves and so they are just stupid.

The government is holding the purse strings. I am sure the government could put pressure on RTE /GAA regarding the more prominent games.
We've had PPV for GAA (sky sports initially) for over 10 years.
Munster and Leinster rugby must be PPV for 15 years now and no moaning about that.

Absolutely disgraceful to call for the government to pull funding for a sport with wide ranging grassroots and underage participation because a few lads can't or won't pay to stream something.
If that happens the GAA should return fire and cancel all games and cul camps for the summer. Like to see all these Billy big balls politicians try get re-elected if all the work the GAA does in the community for them gets cancelled.

So what? The money is needed for stadia undergoing work right now, which might be Louth or Kildare. Cork and Limerick do not need a new stadium.

Whatever about the carefully selected allocation of games to gaago, availability, cost, etc, anyone have an issue with them not showing some critical moments, i.e. puckouts, of the games live.
These are key moments, and often missed due to showing replays or crowd shots, the last on Saturday in particular were missed. The puckout to Kingston, if you werent at the game you couldnt tell if it was a free catch or won. Hoggies penalty was actually nearly missed due to either a replay or crowd shot. Then the Limerick puckout, again key, missed due to showing a second replay of the penalty. All the viewer could see was Fitzgibbon coming out with the ball.
Not good enough in hurling. Plenty time for replays after or in a smaller pop up screen.
Without having seen any GAAGo games to see how bad the issue is, I'd suggest this is a problem that besets all sports. Like I watch a lot of sports (too many probably) and the amount of live action that gets missed by over-indulgent use of slow-mo replay or crowd shots is bizarre.
Pull funding and more games will go behind the paywall as everything needs to be paid for. What's taken away somewhere has to be found somewhere else.
While in favour of GAAgo from a GAA point of view and not having seen the product, I would suggest that the GAA would be wise to ensure that it is a good reliable watchable product…. discourse here would indicate it needs work..
Putting up a half assed product would do the GAA more harm than good, in my opinion.
It probably reflects the fees they are charging. If they were taking in Sky Sports type money, the product would be higher quality.
If they made it good enough with good accessible content, maybe a preview show, something like Breaking ball with a bit of analysis of upcoming games, throw in some club content and they would be looking at a product that would generate revenue 12 months a year. But the quality needs to be good and accessible. I have a Samsung smart tv, i looked for the app, its not there. They say they have it but its not on there. Laptops and Chromecast won't cut it. It needs to be as accessible as netflix, disney or prime. Do what they do, 2 weeks free, cancel if you want. People rarely do.
They do have preview and analysis shows and also have added loads of interviews and documentaries. I can't comment on the quality as I don't subscribe but there is stuff there.
The app is definitely on smart TVs also.
Admittedly it’s a good few years old but I’m annoyed I can’t get this on my 2019 model LG.
Yeah I've a 2018 LG tv and app not available at all.
