Pre covid it might have been 50% in 3 years but it isn’t anymore.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,325 ✭✭✭✭User1998

To be fair theres a lot people suffering even worse than 50% depreciation now. Mostly due to electric car prices tumbling over the past year. Petrol and diesel seems to be holding stronger, but high end cars such as Range Rovers are still depreciating at 50%. You can buy a 3 year old RR Sport for under €60k now.

High end/luxury cars always depreciated heavily. Ever tried buying a 3 year old 7 series or S class? RR (and RRs) would be part of that too.

Not the same class of car as a bog standard model 3 or ID etc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,325 ✭✭✭✭User1998

Yeah of course. I can’t see Model 3 or ID3 etc bought depreciating a huge amount now that they’ve reduced the new prices to something that is more reasonable. As long as you didn’t buy before the big price drops you’d be doing alright

My chuckle of the day when I saw this post :) People generally "detest" sexual predators or disease perhaps, but in a M3 thread, an Ioniq 6 is detested.

It's a car, not life or death!

Glad I brought a smile to your face on this miserable day 😎

I can think of a lot of stronger words for sexual predators let me tell you, ones that would have my post removed unfortunately. Wondered was appropriate IMO, in the same way I detest garlic mayo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,807 ✭✭✭creedp

Christ almighty is this a comparison being made between a person's view on a car and a sexual predator? And yes I also detest the look of the Ioniq 6. I wince everytime is see that rear end

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,933 ✭✭✭eagerv

What's wrong with the poor old Ioniq 6? I rather like it, it's aerodynamic and efficient. I suppose I can understand people not liking the shape; it's no oil painting, a bit like myself😋. But the interior where you spend most of the time is very nice, but it needs the higher spec. However, price wise, it is not competitive..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 884 ✭✭✭CivilEx

That isn't the comparison which was made earlier - it's the use of the word detest, which you have used again. Do EV owners generally feel "violent antipathy" about other cars they see on the road? Perhaps I am wrong and some EV owners do feel that way. I find that surprising to be honest.

Language is powerful and has meaning, but if you detest it given the meaning of the word, then that's your view!

Ioniq 6 reminds me of a Porsche from the back.

Ah I'd say you're reading too much into the use of the word to be fair.

I quite like the Ioniq 6 though. If I could have gotten an Ioniq 6 which was on a par with the M3P for price and performance I'd definitely have chosen the Ioniq 6.

I'm sure it's a very capable car, just can't stand/detest the look of it. I don't really like the look of the Ioniq 5 either, especially in white, but given the choice consider it far easier on the eye that the Ioniq 6

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 177 ✭✭Ir3

Probably one of the ugliest cars ever made!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,053 ✭✭✭antfin

In my opinion Hyundai took some design risks with both cars, which is to be commended in the current era of homogenous looking cars. Unfortunately bold design can be polarising and can fall on the ugly side half the time. They got it right with the Ioniq 5 and very wrong with the Ioniq 6! Tesla took a few risks with the Model 3 to make it a bit different (exterior) but still not a good looking car.

I think the ionic 5 is stunning, especially in silver. The ionic 6….sometimes it looks ok to me, sometimes horrible. I did see one with a matte black wrap and it looked well. It’s definitely a bold design choice.

Ioniq 5 is good looking. Retro, chunky.

Ioniq 6 is very ugly. Looks like a banana.

Model 3 is a good looking car. Sporty but conservative.

    I agree on 2/3…

    the ionic 6 is…challenging, but not ugly…

the model 3 however is incredible. I absolutely love mine

Ionic 5 is great looking but too large for design like that old big golf can't recall it's name.

Ioniq 6 can look great in pictures in person it's not as nice tbh. Don't like much of it it's profiles.

Model 3 has too bulbous a roof line like mazda 121 saloon with some wind blown over it. Front and rear are nice though.

Can anyone advise on wipers for the M3 ?

I am seeing conflicting information for what ones will fit, I would preferably like a Bosch set - Micks Garage is showing a Bosch Aero Twin set 26" and 19" A102s - Can anyone confirm if these will fit ?

Yep should do. I think the A102S is OEM (could be wrong). Size is right - just have a quick look to check that the connectors match what you have on the car and you will be good to go.

I have bought these off Amazon in the past for 30 quid sterling if your a Prime member - Bosch model A871S

Lads what's the calculation to figure out the consumption here? I hear people say they are getting anything from 3 Kms per kW to 6 Kms per kW.

Just wondering if my old money "mpg" is approaching anything decent.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 680 ✭✭✭DrPsychia

Convert the Wh/km to kWh by moving decimal point left.

    100(km)/17.3(kWh) = 5.78km/kWh

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,651 ✭✭✭Conar

If you divide 1000 by your Wh/km you'll get Km/KW

    So 1000/173 = 5.78km/KWh

I'd be curious to know what the people saying they're getting 3km/kW are driving.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 42,603 Mod ✭✭✭✭Gumbo

17.3kwh/100km. Very good for a AWD 500bhp car IMO.

    I’ve done 360km in a SR+ this week and I’m averaging 13.4kwh/100km.

Looking forward to getting back into my P today though 😂

They are driving with no regard for the laws/speed limits it would seem…

Depending on how I drive my m3p I'm currently getting between 16kwh & 21kwh/100km for different journeys. Would have to be in chill mode (both car and driver😄) to achieve the lower end though

I agree. I HATE the look of the ioniq 6. It’s like someone tried to draw a Mercedes from memory while drunk. I love the look of the ioniq 5.
But I respect Hyundai for trying something new with both. Too many cars out there that look like another bog standard Nissan Quasqai.

I also agree with the Tesla M3. The front is fine/nice but the rear is bad. They must have had to make compromises to get that drag coefficient down in the back.
