Thought Callahan would play a bigger venue but see Vicar St is booked out those nights
it’s solo acoustic tour so smaller rooms make sense and he is anti ticketmaster so that eliminates some venues

Mercury Rev in Dublin the same night as Wand so i definitely won't be tempted to the Rev.
yeah sold out whelans on most recent trip. Plus doing bunch of shows around irekand on this tour
I saw them in the Button Factory before. Unless they do a Deserter's Songs gig i 'm not sure they're that big a draw now.

a reminder that where tickets are available on both TM & Eventbrite or other reseller, such as Mercury Rev in Cyprus Avenue, TM will always be more, for that gig, Eventbrite is €35.76 inc fees, whereas TM will be circa €39.50.
Royal Albert Hall is probably up there with one of the most iconic venues in the world, and even better you're getting to see the great Dave Gilmour, it doesn't get much better.
What's Leisureland like as a venue? Only ever ventured there as a youngster, although the overpowering smell of chlorine still haunts me to this day.
Wouldn't mind getting to see them but it'll be hard to beat the acoustic gig they did a year or two back in Town Hall Theatre.

Would have liked a Sligo or Derry gig or somewhere near there. They have the south of the country well covered. Belfast probably my closest so nearly 2 and a half hours away so I'll have to give it a swerve

Always make sure to buy the cheaper ticket. Wonder what the point is having 2 ticket sellers for the 1 gig?
340 which seems to be in-line with a lot of venues listed, but wouldn't get many music gigs there - bar occasional trad, tribute bands and acoustic gigs. I like the Hawks Well but it's a bit soulless.

Yet again i think Bill has priced me out of seeing him. A tenner less and i'd probably go. I like him but i don't think he's come close to the run of Smog albums from The Doctor Came at Dawn through to Rain On Lens. I've skipped his last few tours as i wasn't prepared to pay the required price for material i wasn't mad about. In saying that i thought his last album was a return to form of sorts.

Different sales channels, tm have great reach online, news letters, a massive database, eg favourite act mail outs, social media reach etc, makes perfect sense when youre trying to sell tickets.
They’ve always downplayed themselves. Donahue is thoroughly lacking in confidence, Grasshopper not very different, and I’m pretty sure they regularly ask their booking agent to go for smaller venues. I went to see them do a tiny gig (45-50 people) for the release of The Light in You at Rough Trade East a decade ago. Half the show was chat and he kept apologising for his voice, said it had never been good and he was afraid to sing live. He was so sweet and frail and I gave him a big hug after. Such a lovely man. I also sat beside Simon Raymonde (Cocteaus, Bella Union) and he was also a great guy. I left that gig on such a high. Went to see them again at the Oval Space in Bethnal Green the following evening. Fantastic, as ever.
The last time they played here it was Whelans, the Róísín Dubh, and others. In 2018 I think. Acoustic gigs but they sold out Galway and had to do an extra afternoon show which also sold out. They could easily go the 800 capacity Black Box but chose not to. And again this time it’s the Róísín but hopefully a second night in Galway and I’ll be at both. Already my gig of 2024.
agree with the sentiment here, they are a very special act, he has an amazing but gentle voice, and the gig vibe is just nice, have seen them a few times, since becoming hooked seeing them on the Deserters Songs tour 1999, and its an “autobuy” for me.
Cheers Seath. Loved Deserter's Songs, All is Dream a little less and haven't really paid attention since. Have never seen them live but I'll be taking this opportunity.
