That’s got me thinking a little; what if it’s not just the money problem? What if it’s as simple as Donnie not wanting to do that much extra «work» and that appearing in court has used up what little effort he was normally willing to put into a week of public appearances?
Would line up with what we saw of him in the White House. He avoided most of the jobs of POTUS, didn’t want to do the morning security breifings, and baked «Excutive Time» into large blocks of his week. Unless it involved a public event he’d hope would make him look good, or an overseas junket, he just wasn’t interested.
My guess is that despite how critical it may be for him to win again, Donnie just can’t put the effort in. After a week of court, he just wants time off to do sweet f*ck all while MAGA sycophants can do the heavy lifting for him. He want’s what is traditionally one of the most high-stress / high-stakes jobs in the world, but he can’t be arsed to raise a finger to get it, or to do anything useful once he has it.
It tracks with his approach to the tv show The Apprentice. Apparently he turned up late, quickly filmed his bit and then ****ed off.

He is definitely a psychological phenomenon. Will surely be a load of theories rewritten when he heads off to the Mar a Largo of the sky. It continues to amaze me that this period of time is continuing. I remember pre the first election, and it was a spectacle, weirdly entertaining and horrifying. Like driving past a bad accident and you can't help having a look. It gets very tiring, though, and the levels of 'can't go any lower' that continue to be shattered is becoming increasingly pathetic. This needs to end this Autumn and this criminal needs to answer for his many crimes.
Also, hopefully places are wise to his shtick and are wisely looking for cash upfront, which he is clearly lacking.

Back in 2020, I had felt that Trump losing the election would be an important «first step» in getting back from the extremely block-headed form of neo-facism that the far right have become infected with. At the same time I had suspected that this «First step» would have to be followed up with multiple other steps in order to get back to some resemblance of normal politics where people debated government policy, instead of dealing with bald-faced lies often designed to sooth the ego of a massive man-child.
Beating him again this year is just another step to get back there. But there will be many other steps to take. MAGA are in the minority, but there are enough of them for their stupidity to last years. While Trump draws breath, they will continue to exist, and once he expires he’ll be beatified into a sort of MAGA sainthood by them. But a second Trump loss in 2024 might trigger a couple of things that might bring some of this to an eventual end.
If I were to guess Trump’s likely move post a 2024 loss, I would lean on something I thought he would do after he lost in 2020 and triggered Jan.6. I think he might try to go into «exile» somewhere and declare himself the «real» president. Then he might try to act as a figurehead for a movement that tried to push a MAGA idea of unseating the US Government to replace it with a «Real» MAGA government. I suspect this is also too much effort for him, but given that he might eventually face eviction from his properties and maybe even jail-time, that he might feel motivated to pull a move like thar if the writing was on the wall.
