I know the first proposal of this type of thread was shut down due to the OP tone.
I honestly think it time to start this discussion.
No further info.
I don't love it but how else can the candidates campaign? Not sure what the alternatives are.
Anyone remember the cars with bullhorns going around? Was that banned because I don't remember hearing them in years?
I remember a 20something year old Michael D with his megaphone on the back of a truck outside St Patrick's church after Sunday mass.
Designated council billboards in various places allowing each candidate equal space, social media, traditional media
If the council installed video screens in places around the city they could use them for advertising, notices and even local election candidates. I've always felt there's a gap in keeping up on things that are happening with the council. You have to actively seek it out. Something like that could help
Agree - most posters give no info about the candidates. Vote McNulty #1, oh ok then!
Those fancy new phone boxes?
Is that the cost of installation on these desirable poles that are in the prime car traffic congestion spots (by private contractors) or the cost of the poster itself?
Ya same idea but mainly for city related info. They could display all that info on road closures, planning permission, public events, etc. They could even display some ads to offset costs/make a profit.
Is this really needed - they could just start by making the Website more user friendly
Rough cost of the actual poster https://www.printready.ie/election-posters-ireland/ , SIPO have expenses statements from previous election
That's very expensive. I got a four 50 x 70cm posters done last year for €47 in total (less than €12 each). For large volumes the price per unit drops quite a bit more from there. But that was from an EU printer and I guess candidates need to be seen to support local printing businesses.
I got the €40 per poster figure from Newstalk, includes the waterproof backing and stuff. But the actual poster is ~€6 in 2016
Is anything really needed? Websites are useful for looking up information but people aren't likely to start their day by looking at the GCC website to see what's new. A message board system would allow for posting of the stuff publicly. Put them in the right spots and you'd have a lot of eyes on them each day. Not everyone will stop and read it but it guess it would still be more than the amount that go to their website, read the notices in the local papers or hear them on the local radio stations.
At 89, I'm well impressed! She'd probably be more vocal than all our current crop combined
edit
Vocal about what?
Will bladdering on about being anti war be of any real benefit to you?
Perhaps integrate into NEW Bus Shelters around the City? One side info portal - other side ad. Two birds with one stone
In pre-election time, how would you increase capacity to meet increased demand?
I would create the demand to increase the capacity in the post election environment.
is running not using posters ? They would get my vote
There are few. Here's one in the news
I think Mike Cubbard makes it a point not to. Don't remember seeing his face anywhere since they went up either. He's hurt his back too so struggling to get on doors. I'd say he's still fine to get in but it'll be interesting to see if his numbers are down

..
I see a list of County Council Candidates here: https://www.galway.ie/en/media/Nomination%20of%20Candidates%20accepted_Galway%20County%20Council.pdf
Candidates should be putting in the Address of where they live so that Voters who might not know them at least have an idea are they living near by.
I can't see a City Council list.
City Council list is here:

On gbfm this evening the host of tonight's debate was asking 3 or 4 would-be councillors to email the station because gbfm couldn't contact them to take part in a debate later this week😏
Anyone know if there are any county debates coming up?
You want candidates to include their home address? Have you not seen the news recently?
Do you mean parachute candidates? i.e using the Local Consituency office as the address but not living in or next to near the Ward they are representing itself?
Is that the final list?
