Ya something you have wrongly accused me of being the culprit of on this thread but have refused over and over to admit your mistake.
Dodging bullets is a funny term to use when joking about Gaza.
Also, an advisory referendum on EU membership and with no option of a second referendum was a disastrously bad decision. They had no plan for Brexit and hadn't a clue how to implement it.
Ironically, Brexit has ultimately turned out to be great for the EU (and perhaps even for Ireland)…..the union has made much progress in the last eight years.
London results starting to come in
The First London mayoral results - Merton and Wandsworth
🔴 Khan 48.3% 🔵 Hall 28.6%
5.1% swing from Conservative to Labour since last time
London Mayoral results in Greenwich and Lewisham
🔴 Khan 46.5% 🔵 Hall 26.2%
4.5% swing from Conservative to Labour
It's amazing that 'rumours' based on nothing were actually reported by journalists ahead of the count.
No basis in fact, turnout is only 1.5% down on last time, yet the rumour was put out that a possible upset was on the cards.
Great distraction from the awful results for the Tories yesterday.
People left their common sense at home yesterday and started to share 'I read on social media that Khan is in trouble'. Totally ignoring the fact that the counting did not start until this morning
Chris Skidmore becomes the first Tory in a number of years to speak sense.
Reform got 2 councillors and pro environmental parties a ton which proves the Tories were trying to stem the tide on the wrong flank.
BBC and Sky calling it for Khan to be re-elected.
I have to admit the fear got the better of me this morning.
I'm sure a lot of it was also the Tory misinformation machine trying to distract from the disaster the party was having yesterday by suggesting that they just might win the London mayoral election. There was nothing to discredit such claims yesterday and the few hours distraction was enough to get to the weekend when people's attention turned to other things.
Liverpool and Manchester re-elect their Mayor's, really hope Birmingham swings to Labour.
Confirmed Khan wins 3rd term.
Last one in Lambeth/Southwark with 61% Labour and 15% Tory. No wonder I love those councils as a second home.
Its amazing what you can achieve through refusing to declare any meaningful policies. Starmer will have to step up to the plate eventually but I ain't holding my breath.
Sadiq Khan's winners speech interrupted by the Britain First candidate, a thug who lost to Count Binface....
Tell me when or why any party in opposition has ever declared anything outside of an election when the ruling party is sht scared to call an election ?
Also Labour councillors all over England will have clearly stated local manifestos
If the Tories want to have votes based on national politics they can grow some genitals and call a national election.
Lib Dems have won London South West (Richmond/Twickenham) and Labour have relegated perennial winners the Conservatives to third.
Hopefully another dent for Labour even though some want to wish this all away as 'faux'
As votes continue to be counted in the West Midlands Mayoral contest, it’s worth noting just how well a relatively unknown independent candidate has done in some of the results so far.
Akhmed Yakoob – who campaigned on the issue of Gaza - won a sizeable 42,923 votes in the Birmingham part of the result, coming third there.
Labour’s Jess Phillips, a Birmingham MP, tells me she believed her party’s initial refusal to call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza has cost them votes.
“I’d be lying if I said if I said this hasn’t been an issue that hurt the Labour party in this election," she says.
Phillips quit the shadow front bench last year over Sir Keir Starmer’s position on the ongoing conflict
"This is a political issue that the people here care about," she adds.
Starmer has his position through the campaigning of the Zionist lobby so it's not surprising that he is reluctant to call for a Gaza ceasefire.
It is faux as that's the best result they will achieve; next election they are unlikely to do as well and if that's the "dent" then it's not significant for Labour. You may not like that but it is the reality; same way that Farage's party only had a minor impact on the Tories (around six percentage points) and will never become a real threat to them (though they are to stupid to realize that by the looks of it all).
Labour have won West Midlands by looks of it. Pippa Crerar usually pretty reliable. Number of others reporting it too.
Are the Torys going to turn on Sunak?
Let's hope so
Khan is the only thug. He has made lives of Londoners an absolute misery by introducing ULEZ making it basically illegal to drive a perfectly good car in London. Imagine if all pre 2016 petrol and diesel cars were banned within the M50.
Worse still London is no longer safe because him.
Clearly, those ULEZ warriors did not come out to vote then
Are cars banned? Are all pre-2016 petrol cars banned? So many questions to the assertions made and not a lot of facts it seems. I thought if you had a car that is not compliant you paid a fee to drive it in the ULEZ zone, and only pre-2016 diesel and pre 2006 petrol cars may not be compliant. But happy to be corrected.
Did you see the videos? Yeah he is a thug, he lost to a man with a bin on his head thankfully.
You mean ULEZ that was a Boris Johnson policy? The air quality is better in those areas though since introduction. Plus the majority of cars are already ULEZ compliant.
What exactly has Khan done to make London unsafe? What would his nearest rival have done to help fix it? The Tories don't exactly have a great record when it comes to funding the police.
West Midlands mayor will be Labour after all
Unaffordable for average Joe soap= ban.
I see I've been beaten to it but it was Boris Johnson who introduced ULEZ. London's no less safe then any other UK city.
Labour’s Richard Parker pulls off shock victory in West Midlands, beating Tory incumbent Andy Street by a whisker,
Absolute killer pun there, even better if unintended
Do you live in London? Do you even live in the UK?
LLondon isn't the crime hell hole you're making it out to be and ULEZ has made the air cleaner for the people living/working there.
Paul Golding is a wife beater and a scùmbag.
