Feels like the right time to start a new thread for next year's gigs.
John Mayer playing the 3Arena on 29 March 2024.
Were you at the surprise one Upstairs in Whelan's in Jan? Even that was the same, I assumed it would be mad but a lot of people seemed to be there just because they thought it would be cool to be, or something
whif of elitism off the pair of ye cmon now lads!
anyone know why their guitarist is leaving
Eh? Not sure what you mean, Mac. Just surprised the place wasn't a bit more electric.
Yeah, that's a bizarre one isn't it? Just as they're on the up and up. He seems like a nice fella. Did she say 'other projects' or something?
I thought she said other things or something. I was up top so couldnt make out some of it. regular enough occurrence maybe, didn’t one of the members of Newdad leave too. prob not that lucrative for them
Yep, probably simple economics.
What time were Chalk on? I'm going tonight.
Never seen an on-stage break up before. I would have thought there would be tantrums but it all appeared very amicable. 😋
Good luck to him.
Chalk on at 8, Sprints 9.
Gary Numan's Belfast show has been moved from the Telegraph Building to the Limelight 1.
Erm…Hotgirl are the support tonight, no? Saw Hotgirl last week supporting Problem Patterns, more straight-up indie than Chalk but worth a look. Reading the original post again maybe they just wanted an idea of what time the support started.
Oh sorry, just presumed Chalk were doing both gigs. Anyhow, times the same I'm sure.
Caught Hotgirl in a support slot here recently (to Shark School I think). Thought they were very good. A bit of Primal Scream Therapy allied to some slightly bluesy and tight instrumentation. Recommended.
I'm assuming the caps are just a phone auto-thing rather than suggesting they sound like Primal Scream or Therapy?
More a case of the singer being a fan of Janov. Was she not exorcising her demons at the gig you went to?
Free gig at 14:00 outside Spin Dizzy Otherwise it's 20:00 upstairs in Whelans
Oh absolutely. It's just you never know what other people's ears are hearing, so clarification was required on my part!
Mannequin Pussy, Whelans, Tuesday 20th August. In Dolans, Limerick the following night: https://singularartists.ie/show/mannequin-pussy-2/
Class. Thanks
Catfish and The Bottlemen are back to play RDS Simmonscourt on 31 August
Disclosure sold out instantly today.
it’s nearly all guestlist anyhow. Same with bicep and kelis
A friend has seen them twice recently and said would go again ..loves them .
Lead singer amazing .
Want to go with next time but would just be "going for the occasion" as don't know them ..😉
Anybody getting a bit worried about the Trinity situation ?
We have booked a rake of tickets for Trinity Sessions and friends coming up to make a week of it .
Will be pished if it is cancelled because of the student camp out .
Sounds like the college has met their initial demands , but now the students have moved the goalposts further apart!
I'd be surprised if they are still camping out at the end of June.
Ah Goldengirl! You know what I mean. For all small gigs, I just want the room to be into the band, for everyone to feel the love. No snobbery intended.
I suppose if the weather stays good they might .Don't want to wish for bad weather!
Yeah , I know what you mean . 😁
But on the up you will always get people there to see what the fuss is about so it takes that bit of time .
As long as those aren't talking or with the phones up videoing it's ok.
Promise I'll stay at the back !
Wand, Workmans Cellar, Thursday October 31st: https://singularartists.ie/show/wand/
Criminally underrated band. The fact that they're still playing tiny venues is a travesty. When i first saw them upstairs in Whelans in 2015 i was convinced they were destined for bigger things. Next time was in the Soundhouse. Now the Cellar. I'll be there anyway.
