A few years back I read that a Starship Troopers reboot was planned and that it would be based on the book and be more patriotic and not satirical. It's either in development hell or has been cancelled outright because I've seen nothing about it since. /tangent

Upon hearing the news I thought that Y'allkida had developed a slither of cop-on and realised how much of an electoral own-goal it was to re-activate a medievel Civil-War era law. But no…they had to be forced into it by the state's Dems + 2 GOP voters. One of the GOP voters Shawnna Bolick, apparently supported the Dems in this because she herself had once needed an abortion due to a life-threatening complication.
Sort of underlining the madness of total abortion bans, with the proponents of such bans forgetting that abortion is often used to prevent often fatal infections if a pregancy tragically fails. But I suspect these other GOPers are more focused on people being sexually liberal and trying to prevent that as opposed to actually safeguarding people's health.
I hope the Arazona electorate remember who brought in the Abortion ban and who worked to repeal it now.

If they were fans at all of the X-Men they would possibly also realised that the main theme of that series has been to highlight how ostracisation and "othering" of people who are different is wrong. Of course as you point out, our MAGA buddies may not be thoughful enough to read into a subtext like that. (Or grasp the idea of not judging people on their differences)

I assume his lawyer has advised him a few times to stop slagging off his judge in public for example.
He knows there's only so much the judge will do, and no matter what the judge does it plays into Trump's claims of persecution and unfair treatment and ELECTION INTERFERENCE with his base, and they'll use it as grounds for appeal if he's found guilty.
But yeah in general, he's more likely to change his advisers to ones who'll tell him what he wants to hear than actually listen to something he doesn't want to hear.

This is something I don't understand. Here you have yet another highly placed, wealthy individual, Weisselberg, who had been TrumpCo controller for decades and clearly understood high-level accounting, laws, finance, etc. Other highly-placed people from TrumpCo were involved with the campaign. Didn't they know, in advance, having watched how TFG ran TrumpCo as his personal piggy bank, that being involved in something subject to as much scrutiny as a Presidential campaign would be a personal disaster?
I guess the saying, "Smart People do dumb things less often than dumb people" applies. Weisselberg's gone from the penthouse to the outhouse along with a bunch of them (Manafort springs to mind, though he is probably comfortable around criminals).
That article brings up the double-dealing around TFG's inauguration, which collected a bunch of money then didn't spend it. Weisselberg apparently tried to help them balance the books. There was a fine imposed on the Inauguration org, so I guess Weisselberg kept them from going to jail.
Won't make a difference to TFG supporters, of course. "Witch Hunt!" "Hunter Biden!" etc. about as much as they can understand.
