What size wheels ? I've heard of some issues with the 19s either manufacturer or just really poor balancing.
Make sure you're happy with it, they can be pretty poor in terms of resolution
Hopefully just tyre balancing. If anything, the after service makes up for the crap ordering and waiting process. The service department seem to be a lot better at sorting things out.
Yeah the 19”s, noticed it on the collection day. Almost thought it was some lane assist warning.
Hoping I’ll get a notification it’s ready the same day or I’ll be stuck getting a train home
Opposite seems to be the case with new vehicles. Subterfuge, made up resolutions, resisting replacing new wheels and tyres.
I'd make sure you test drive it and are happy with the results if it's not right after balancing then go back. I'm nearly of the opinion they have a bad batch of 19 wheels gone out on brand new vehicles.
Youll hear alot of "we've never had this before" yada yada. (They have)
So took the plunge and purchased an ex-demo MY AWD direct from Tesla. Love the car but sweet Jesus it’s the noisiest drive ever. There are two rattles that are doing my head in - in front of steering wheel on dashboard just to the right (intermittent) and the rear passenger suspension creaks a bit when on uneven roads or when starting from cold. Motorway driving is fine but uneven rural roads cause all the rattles to start. Have it booked in for a service call start of May - hoping this will resolve it. Has anyone else had the same problems ?
Part of the issue with any EV is that with no droning noise from the engine you hear all the noise.
My wife's m3 had an awful wind noise from rear passenger door. I tried resetting the window position and looked at the seals, lubricated them, all seemed fine. Left it in to be checked, they didn't find anything but it was fixed.
Hope you get sorted soon.
Calling custard on this.
I suppose you did the same with this
I've a couple of rattles I want them to look at (both intermittent so I'm expecting they won't be there when they look at the car on Friday and I get nowhere with it). The driver side front window, and something coming from the driver side rear door. Maybe more to be honest, but these are the two I hear the most. I had the creaking noise coming from the rear of the car too, it was the seal around the boot causing that. They sent a ranger out and he just used some lubricant on the seal and it hasn't been an issue since, which is good because it was way louder than anything else.
I had an American made Model 3 for 4 years and had none of these issues with noise, I'd have thought the Chinese made cars would probably be better but apparently not.
Hi all, thinking about getting these storage drawers for under the seats for Mrs Tracos model Y. Priced from green drive and working out at €65 for two delivered. A tad steep for a plastic bin with a bit of fabric in it so wondering if anyone bought from Temu or Ali Express and how they found them for fit etc? Also any issues with import taxes and duties.
Any pointers appreciated. Ta!
there all built in China anyway. No difference.
Hi guys, picking up black MY in the May 8 - 23 batch - was wondering had anyone here purchased matt black gemini wheel hub caps and could share their experiences or have any advice?
I had a problem like that with my model Y. Ranger sorted it by greasing (silicone) seals on the hatch.
Known fault.
Seems as though the on again off again Tesla referral scheme is about to be withdrawn. For anyone considering placing an ordeit might be a consideration
Yes bought some a year ago and all good so far. Definitely look better than the original Gemini wheels.
Deadly - where did you get them or which ones did you get - if you don't mind me asking?
On the downside, they can look plasticky/tacky and very obvious to to owners that you went for the cheap chinese option rather than smart OEM rims. The original Gemini wheel covers are honest at least.
Has anyone purchased the stock Model Y Bike carrier for their car? I was thinking about going for it when it comes back in stock.
it’s been out of stock a good few weeks now.

Edit: Delete as it doesn't appear to allow to add to basket
Can't find the link, think it was on Ali express. There are loads on Amazon anyway. I got ones that are mirrored e.g. 2left, 2right. A lot are 4 the same so two are pointing backwards.
I saw it briefly come into stock a few weeks ago but was gone within a few mins. We have two e-bikes that put it a bit over the weight limit so I reckon I'm going to get the Thule EasyFold XT 2-Bike rack instead https://www.halfords.ie/cycling/bike-accessories/bike-racks/towbar-mounted-bike-racks/thule-easyfold-xt-2-bike-towbar-mounted-bike-rack-300079.html
does anyone in the motoring game know where I stand trading a model y into a traditional car dealer? Is the talk of them not taking EVs or returning bad prices as a deterrent true?
Trying to weight up my options as I’m getting nervous with the EV market and the negativity. Resale value seems to be hard to stay on top of. I know of 2 other EV drivers who can’t get a decent price for their ID and Ionia 5 cars outside a private sale and even at that they are struggling.
What’s a realistic depreciation on a normal petrol or diesel 1 year old? Vs a MY let’s say?
Any advice? Appreciate it.
Edit. I should add I absolutely love the car. Enjoy driving it ever time I sit into it. Nothing against the car I’d ideally love to hold onto it. I just don’t want to risk above average depreciation. The negativity in the EV game is wild.
Not having a go but if you buy a car and you're worried about depreciation, then car ownership isn't for you!!
Carbon tax today has increased the price of petrol and diesel again. It's getting harder every single time to pull into the petrol station and fill the tank.
The media have done a proper hatchet job on EV ownership. From battery degredation, range anxiety, EV fires and everything else in between, if you believed half of it then you'd eat grass.
Shop around, you will find out for sure, I doubt you will get a straight answer here,
My brother told me today of his chat with VW, 222 reg id4, around 50000km, 28 k trade in and new is 43000 euro, it cost him 46000.
The only good news I could offer is that the Y went up in price by 3200.
40% deprecation on a two year old car with high mileage seems ok.
You only suffer depreciation if you sell the car. So forget about selling it. You said it yourself that you love the car. Selling the car due to depreciation makes no sense.
35% if you use the new price.
Will he stick with an EV for his next car, or does he intend to switch back to ICE?
He said "nothing gained by switching only its newer"
I was on to him for the last 4 years about changing to a plug in, he missed several deals, while he is down 18000 over 2.5 years, I have lost nothing over 12 years, cash flow is his problem, just easier sign on the dotted line and not worry about it.
