Feck...
So to get the same spec I have now would cost about €45k!
Just buy the new ID4 Pro Plus at that price.
Does it have that spec? Wife won't live without area view now lol.
A lot more, Pro S Plus, with the extras added for HUD + Area View, is 50k, an insane price.
An ID4 new model, Pro Plus, with Area View added €1600, is 47k, don’t see HUD as available on the ID4
I wonder how we were even able to take our cars out on the road in the '90s 😁
Pretty much seals the deal then, I'll be keeping the ID3.
Will report back what VW offer in trade anyway. They're 7.9% to refinance, AIB are 6.4%.
will certainly be interesting what they offer off a new Id3, or the now much better value, id4 (with v4 software) but likely to be around 20k, i reckon
Hefty interest rates🥵
no wonder people aren’t buying used EVs.
Got caught for that rate myself when I bought an ex demo.
Its dropped a bit (from 10.9%) since the last time I checked. Mind you, my trade in value has probably dropped since then too 😒
Anyone done any styling changes on ID3? Toying with the idea of tinting or blacking out the badges. I think it'd look pretty cool against the dark gray/black scheme. 🤔
Nope, but have it less than a week 🙂
Was looking at different accessories last night and tempted to get covers for the piano black arm rests on the door and centre console. I’m sure they won’t hold up well but still tempted…
I've had the matt black covers on for 2.5 years and they're immaculate.
Same here, only got the car last Friday. My gloss black centre is scratched up, as to be expected. Torn between alcantara or matte black. Unfortunately no rhd door covers in alcantara from torque alliance.
EDIT: Ordered the matte black centre and door covers
I was looking at the same ones. Not sure how the alacantra would look in person but would have given it a shot if it was RHD. Similar for carbon, would try matte but it could look v tacky too
I have the Matt black covers for centre and doors for a couple of years. Unlike the gloss they’re easy to keep clean and don’t scratch.
edit: they look much better and less tacky than grubby fingerprint covered gloss
Our Tour is still available. Had a couple of serious enquiries but came to nothing so far. link here

Lovely spec ID3, I want to buy the pro s 77kWh variant for my Mrs. Only thing that bothers me is the lack of a drive unit warranty, some brands include it in the 8 year battery warranty. Is it possible to buy an extended warranty from VW Ireland? I know it's possible with VW UK.
I don’t know! It’s a big issue. VW and others need to stand over their used EVs.
You can purchase a warranty from car protect for 12 ( 355 euro) or 24 months (575). Car protect.ie
not sure what they are like to deal with.
I called carprotect but sadly they don't provide BEV cover yet, only cover hybrids😥 CS agent said there's plans to start covering BEVs in the coming months…
This is a really huge issue with a VW BEV, and something i looked into when i almost bought an ID3 in mid 2021.
There are basically, zero comprehensive options for extending the 3 year warranty beyond 3 years. Of course the battery is covered for 8 years/160,000 kms, but this is now standard for almost all EV’s.
When you take a look around at the competion, VW along with Opel, Seat, Fiat(i think !)& Skoda have 3 years and thats it, no extendable comprehensive car warranty options available. That puts these 5 BEV car makers at, or very close to the bottom of the list, in terms of warranties, and extendable options.
Open to correction, but this is my general understanding of some of the competition and their comprehensive BEV warranty lengths, in all cases, you have to usually continue getting the BEV serviced at a main dealer to keep the warranty valid, which is reasonable, and some have differing mileage limitations.
Toyota - 10 years
Kia & MG - 7 years
Mazda & BYD - 6 years
Hyundai, Renault, Jaguar, Land Rover, Subaru, Ora & Peugeot - 5 years
Tesla - 4 years, extendable for another 4 years.
BMW, Polestar, Citroen, Audi, Volvo & Nissan - 3 years, but extendable beyond that
Cupra - 2 years but extendable up to 3 further years
Mercedes - 2 years, but extendable beyond that
Agreed. They need to vastly improve their general warranty. You can extend the Tesla basic warranty by a further 4 years/80k kilometres, costs about €2500. I believe only the first owner can buy it, might be wrong though.

From what I've read on UK ID3 forum they can extend warranty with VW direct for eur 300 or so for 12 months. Is it different here or is this not the same thing people are speaking about?
If it had 5 seats I'd be all over it.
when i was checking out the Id3 extended warranty options in 2021, an extended warranty beyond year 3, was available in the uk, but not in Ireland.
updated the list above, thanks
No, VAG group in Ireland don’t offer an option to extend their warranty. Approved used cars sold through their dealer network usually come with at least 1 years extended warranty though. 3rd party offerings such as Mapfre or CarProtect are a waste of money in my experience. It’s extremely difficult to get them to pay out on a claim.
