Actually, I have been in minefields, some of which were marked, and some not, which Thank God I survived, because my time was not up. And I've seen them explode several times. I also shared an apartment with a de-mining team at one stage and learned a lot from them. One of them was killed later on by a mine. By definition, whatever their status now, if areas are still mined or have UXO's, they were active at some stage. And should be marked as such. But sadly, while this is true of many explosive contaminated areas, it's far from universal. Currently mine / UXO removal is a long, time consuming extremely dangerous business. They use metal detectors, and probes, but if Ukraine have come up with an improved demining method, I'm all for it. As for the mine that was missed, its not unknown and neither is it unknown for one side to creep back at night into a cleared area, and place more mines. I'd imagine that they will work at least up to a point, one of the biggest drawbacks that I can see will be the sheer quantity of metal lying around (assuming its based on metal detection) They already have heat sensing detectors, which scan the ground for any mines which retain their heat after the sun goes down and the ground temperature drops. UXO's and VBIEDs are different set ups,and need different approaches. They usually use trip switches or triggers to detonate.

Yes ,that is very interesting (and we have learned to trust him as far as we can throw him) but for now we have to count our blessings that aid may soon be getting through to Ukraine in spite of his efforts.

My guess is Johnson's intel was so serious he went straight to Tiny to warn him that he was going to do it and Tiny needed to preempt it and make it look exactly as you suggested. If was up to him Ukraine would burn.
It could just be politics.
By delaying funding it has handed Russia the initiative. It also means that Ukraine wouldn't be able to launch an offensive this year. That reduces the chance of a Ukraine victory this year to close to zero. A Ukrainian victory over Russia, or even having the upper hand, would have been a huge feather on Biden's cap and a big boost in November.
Well that would be in character.
Fingers crossed this aid will finally pass. It won't win the war for Ukraine, but it keeps them in the game and will at least hopefully prevent Russia making more gains
The chances of a Ukrainian win this year were quite small and needing Russia to even be more of a fk up than it already is.
Washington and much of Europe are pushing for a ceasefire and a pause, that means just enough to limit Russia to the 4 oblasts it has claimed and always late with supplies.
Holding the line near where it is is going to be a big ask for Ukraine and a big Russian offensive might smash through and take more than that.
It's a catastrophic approach by the West and driven by a foolish belief that peace and jaw jaw are always the best or preferable option
Holding Russia in a qtr of Ukraine might bring peace but it also means a permanently failed Ukraine, a Russia that has had a reward and every evil group from Hezbollah, Iran, China etc confident that the West won't defend democracy, itself or long term peace and stability.
Europe is tapped out of military hardware and America could flood Ukraine with it but chooses not to, never mind the bits Congress debated on.
Russia wants to win l. The West doesn't really care either way what happens.
