Following on from main thread in Current Affairs about Tubs in general (now closed and mod suggestion that Entertainment category is more suitable).
Indeed, entertainment in certain respects is what Tubs has provided, albeit perhaps in a way not intended. And still awaiting 150k payback to the licence fee holder.
And of course, his new career in Virgin Radio which is imminent.

Cat-Mod: See post here regarding off-topic segues.
And there was about 7 others doing it to make you look half decent.
“might” ?
Oh, I didn't realise they owned both Dubray and Gutter.
I have some questions regarding the podcast.
Haven't listened yet, but regarding question y, I don't think Tubs will be recommending books per se.
It's more an interview format, where the guest talks about 3 books. There's no books outside of those afaik.
Catch 22 is a great read, by the way. One quote - from memory - Yossarian says his ambition is "to live forever or die in the attempt". 10/10 in my view
Major Major was my favourite. You could only go in to see him when he wasnt there😀
Was in Easons yesterday for about 15 mins. Heard Tubby twice in that time, and he was extolling a particular book alright. Didn’t catch the title. I would guess that the poor staff have to listen to the same guff about 50 times a day!
Are they playing the podcast over their system? If so I wonder if that counts as a "listen" in the stats every time it's played 🤔.
no it’s just an ad (nauseum)
Was given an Eason's gift card a few months ago and I'm still struggling to spend it. I pick up far more interesting reads in charity shops than anything they stock.
They are grand if you want some birthday cards or leaving cert papers. But pretty useless when it comes to books nowadays.
Oh god. That's got to be worse than working in a shop in December
Every Tuesday.
Think it is a limited series. Not sure how many in the series.
Seems to be handled by NKM and the YT page for NK Productions has the other NKM podcasts.
Not sure. The YT version is video and audio.
Again, it is only one episode in so there will be probably some promotion on the other NKM podcasts and press releases to the usual publications to promote it. Tubridy might even have a mention in his IMoS column.
There was a link under the YT video to the next David Walliams book. That might be the usual thing if the authors appearing on the podcast are on a book promotion tour. Easons will probably want to sell fast-moving new books rather than books that have been out of print for years. It is cheaper to buy proven sellers in bulk from the distributors and publishers rather than order individual books for customers.

Major Major Major was an answer in the chase today. lol
I won a €25 voucher for them a few months ago. The only things I could find on their site that were any use to me were two tea towels and an oven glove 😂.
If you were a massive book lover who just needed to share your love of reading with as big an audience as possible…
If you were trying to steer a very digital and screen obsessed generation into the pleasures of books…
Or maybe if you wanted to create an alternative revenue stream away from the restrictions of RTE which might allow you to eventually leave Montrose and do your own thing…..a chance to fly the nest and move on up…
Stuff that Ireland's biggest broadcasting talent of the 21st century, pandemic saviour and future presidential candidate should be interested in, you'd think.
Dustin slagging the podcast (amongst other things) on Ray Darcy now 😀.
Dup post.
Kennys.ie would have made a much better partner for the podcast. They started selling books on the internet befire Amazon.
To be fair Walliams is a credible “book” guy that does have a fairly high profile.
It will say a lot about the UK conquering Tubridy in how quickly it becomes the RTE canteen regulars.
Speaks volumes that its Easons that are backing it. He’s gone less than a year and the big fish is already running to get back to the small pond.
Eason are also sponsoring a book show on Virgin Media, perhaps they are planning to get back into bookselling.

Yeah there's enough negativity in the thread already without that kind of thing
It might be more interesting to see if it becomes a showcase for HarperCollins authors promoting books. Walliams is a big name but I suppose that we'll have to wait until tomorrow to read who is appearing on the next episode.
Seems to be targeted at Tubridy's demographic too. Perhaps RTE will get in on the action too with a new books programme.
Would they want to have their brand name tainted by getting into bed with Tubs? Despite all the spinning and the PR, he remains damaged goods in the eyes of many people. It's also questionable how much of a book fan he is, or if it's just a persona he adopted. Even if they were approached to be a sponsor, they were dead right to avoid this vanity project like the plague.
Very true.
I do wonder why Easons decided to go for it. I am not sure what they are really getting out of it.
Generally readers don't have short attention spans and Eason's selection generally tend to be very basic, the usual thrillers, celeb cookbooks and history books about strangely niche topics by retired rte "stars".
It seems to cater for people who buy other people books that probably never get read, so I can see tubs just being another background prompt.
Has there been much negativity shown towards Easons on Twitter for paying a public enemy money ?
indifference mainly. Which is probably more worrying for him
And Eason's.
