Seriously WTF, you think they advertised and would hire any ordinary Joe Jane so, it's always a who you know
Anything to back that up?
Of course they dont.
Do you know they advertised then?
Yes yes, they usually publish data on crony appointments and nepotism. Let us just dig that data out.
The forced naivety is astounding (and fake).
You are the one that claimed it was "nepotism" so what led you to this assumption?
Patrick O’Donovan has only been appointed to his new portfolio by Harris about 2 days ago but you think he advertised, interviewed and picked a returning FG Harris fan TD's sister just by chance, coincidence
So to cut this short, you have no clue if it is "nepotism"
And you know it is not
I'll give you this you have great faith and believe and admiration in FG
I didn't say it was or wasn't, I asked you how you knew it was
I have no faith or admiration in FG, I don't vote for them.
What else would you call it then as that is what I'm calling it
You seem very defensive of and pro FG in your posts
I asked you for proof, that's now defensive 😂
Anyway, best of luck on your travels.
I couldn't find a thread or post on the latest Fine Fail Ard Fheis, so hopefully this is an okay thread to post in?
Seems to be a very small crowd of the faithful in attendance!
Also coverage on RTE seems to be lacking compared to Fine Gael's?

Tánaiste Micheál Martin has described Sinn Féin as the “most cynical and destructive opposition in our history” and said they are “hoping to bulldoze their way to power”.At the opening night of the Fianna Fáil Ard Fheis in Dublin, Mr Martin used most of his speech to blast Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald and her party.
Tánaiste Micheál Martin has described Sinn Féin as the “most cynical and destructive opposition in our history” and said they are “hoping to bulldoze their way to power”.
At the opening night of the Fianna Fáil Ard Fheis in Dublin, Mr Martin used most of his speech to blast Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald and her party.
https://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/martin-we-cannot-go-into-government-with-sinn-fein-over-eu-its-policies-1612786.html In an opening speech to Fianna Fáil delegates on Friday evening, Mr Martin accused Sinn Féin of spending “90 per cent of their time attacking government parties in aggressive and often personal terms”.
Coming across as a cry baby? "Mummy My colleagues in work are mean to me."
Mickey Martin has gone on the record before he couldn't work with FG!
Didn't both Ard Fheis take time to talk about Sinn Fein?
Also didn't they knock Sinn Fein for holding rallies. Aren't they just doing the same under a different name?

Moderators if this is the wrong thread for this please move/delete.
Well Talking about someone “mummy” on a politics forum is a new one
This is music to FF supporters ears by the way, they don’t want to join Sinn Fein in government next election and based on all projections that’s the only way SinnFein could form a government
Good for FF, this is terrible news for SF who really have managed to alienate themselves not only from every party in Northern Ireland but looks like it in Republic as well
At some stage SF need to look at themselves instead of blaming everyone else
FG produced a whole New Politics document in 2011 blaming Fianna Fail for all the country's ills and promising to do things better (it was all lies).
Some lines from it.
===========
The finger of responsibility must, in the first instance, point directly to the massive policy failures of the recent Fianna-Fail led Governments and their willingness to promote the interests of a so-called “Golden Circle” over the interests of the Citizen. Under Fianna Fail a political culture developed which ensured that the bankers and the developers were not dealt with before it was too late. A culture which tolerates cosy cartels and high costs in the private sector and ignores the need for radical reform in the public sector.
Successive Fianna Fáil-led Governments have used Social Partnership to create an entirely parallel system of policy formation which involves outsourcing vital parts of government to unelected and often unaccountable bodies.
Fine Gael wants to reverse the restrictions that Fianna Fail has placed on Freedom of Information in Ireland.
However, it is also clear that several key weaknesses in Ireland’s political system facilitated the failures of the last twelve years. In particular
A hugely centralised State with few real checks and balances; An over-powerful Executive that increasingly ignores the Dáil; A proliferation of State agencies and Quangos that answer to no one and a model of Social Partnership which effectively excluded the Dáil
And now they are bestest buddies.
Also hugely ironic considering FG's actions since they came to power.
To pick up from even just the last section - we now have an even bigger centralised Government and executive that routinely ignores the Dail by guillotining legislation or reducing debate on key issues, state agencies, quangos and NGOs are even more out of control, and all of the serious domestic issues that existed back then have increased massively under their watch with new ones added like the immigration fiasco.
People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones as the saying goes.
If I was to sum up FG since 2011 in one word, it would be "hypocritical". A massive let down to be honest.
I have always known what FF were about...
Interesting to see what FF say at their Ard Fheis about housing. Will they double down on Harris' vacuous 250,000 "promise" or raise the bar even more.
and?
I suppose the alternative is “doing unseen work” which amounts to 4 questions in the Dail
Oh and the odd YouTube speech
What state would Ireland be in if we had to rely on TDs like that?
Yes yes, the reason Fine Gael didn't implement any of their 2011 New Politics manifesto is…..wait for it….Catherine Connolly (IND). 😂
Never mind that Connolly only got elected to the Dail in 2016 and isn't a member of Fine Gael 😁
Do you ever reply to criticism of the FFG government without bringing in a complete tangent or whataboutery?
I voted FG 1 & 2 in 2011 by the way. And they both got elected. Zero reform though. Never mentioned New Politics again afterwards.
The arguments are getting increasingly weak. Like the Garda numbers yesterday, semantics and then ran away.
course you voted FG 👍
Personally I never have
You post the same thing daily, a little ramble about terrible it is while voting for someone that will do nothing to resolve the issues and has done nothing so far.
If any of the independents wanted to implement change they would join a party and take a minister role. None of them will, they will sit around, do the odd YouTube and collect a handy wage
Since 2011 has Ireland got better? Yes
Is it the best it could be? No
Are the political parties trying to make it better? Yes from what I can see
Are independents? No, picking a wage cheque, doing the odd speech, going to a few funerals and job done
So again a post that doesn't even mention New Politics. You just want to distract? Is that your MO? Why do you bother replying to a post about Fine Gael's New Politics in a thread about FFG? No comment on the failure of New Politics in 2 responses. It's very disengenous and I think deep down you see that. The "look over there" response ad nauseum.
Do you mean SF, they have never been in government so how do anyone know, it has always been FF and FG in some coalition or formation and they are probably banking on being in again either together or with other parties but not SF
https://www.rte.ie/news/2024/0413/1443307-fianna-fail-ard-fheis/
There certainly preparing for the next GE.
Good old thread on Future of Micheal Martin.
While he is leader of FF, no chance of a collation with SF, and probably not a great chance if he is gone.
Is it the President role (2025) he may have his sights on next, as he achieved his goal of Taoiseach if only for half a term.
Sinn Fein are in government in Northern Ireland for how long now?
Even after that if you reviewing their policies it’s a bag of cats, nothing adds up and their “alternative budget” was full of error so they had to pull it and release again. Then even after that they have a 750m gap
The big plays they made recently was the insurance one, which would have meant every single person with insurance would have seen a price rise because an insurance company could no longer give you a discount, so if you never crashed it doesn’t matter as Sinn Fein would have made it illegal to give a discount v someone with 20 crash’s
Now if you think Ireland should be put in their hands, then vote for them. But to be fair to Sinn Fein or any party at least they have policies, an independent? Vote for independent if you want, but will they make a difference to Ireland? Will they implement policies to make things better in Ireland?
it’s not up to MM or whoever is leader to decide if they go into coalition or not, it’s a party decision
I expect fully that if they replace the leader whoever is going for the job will have to give a clear indication if they would support or not a coalition with SF
May I ask who do you support if not FG or FF?
I think it is time for an alternative to FF and FG but I don't think it is SF and the other parties are too small
As expected, they are running scared on the patent referendum. It should be a slam dunk but not for the coalition of chaos.

You may ask alright! 😊
Was moaning that RTE had little coverage of the Ard fheis last night.
Allocating half an hour tonight after the News, same amount of time as FG.
Seems FF TD's are utilizing twitter to get there messages from the Ard Fheis across.

When I heard him mention smoking ban, I thought he was going to rant about the 'Vaping epidemic'?
(don't know why it used with vaping it is not a disease?), also thought that was the public health crisis?
