What did she do wrong?
What she achieved with those players was brilliant.
It's hard to know really what happened for the players to turn against her but it seemed like a total breakdown between the two parties. Don't think she helped her cause and overall morale by bringing in uncapped Irish passport holders fortheworld cup, especially when they added little to the team
Nothing much to indicate any improvement since she's left though. The Nations League results were great and all but don't mean a whole lot considering the level of opposition
The players didn't really help themselves how they went about the whole sagaand some of the comments they came out with about being more attack minded etc. aren't ageing well
Vomit
Pep is such a strange individual
I listen to Second Captains at 1.5-2x speed.
Can confirm, that to my ears, at normal speed the lads sound like they've been out drinking for hours.
I half expected them to speed up the show at some point as a gag...
The slow reveal that Ken watched the Arsenal match at 2x speed on a dodgy site was almost as cinematic and memorable as the WrestleMania main event
what did Vera do wrong? Or is this just Tucker.Tims stream of thought every day?
Why does ken have use dodgy sites and only access to the rte bloody news in crap def. Surely as part of his job he should have sky sports with the full package of tnt etc. Premier league and champions league are his main topics!
Pretty sure its death by a few cuts:
1. The abuse accusations from the USA
2. Her limited game plan amd not prepping the players how they felt they should be for those games.
3. Bringing in the new players
4. Her controlling nature.
Major competitions drive people nuts, it happens in most countries we just don't hear the relentlessness of whatever happens to other teams. Its the most important moment in the lives of all those players and when things don't go right they never forget. If they didn't get picked or played in the wrong position or the results went poorly then they'll always have an issue with whoever did that. Deep down they blame her for not giving them the platform to perform at the tournament. She lost the credit she earned when the allegations emerged and she spoke openly about playing limited football.
Fwiw i think its mad that countries hand out contracts longer than 2 years and don't set the renewal discussion date as august 1st after a tournament. With all the good intentions in the world, a tournament, especially for a small country, is going to have negative outcomes. They always need to be looked at in the cold light of day
I was thinking the same thing. Considering how much football is on TNT sports, seems mad he doesn't have those channels
I don't understand, was it an outtake from a podcast or did he just leave that voice note on Ken's phone!?
He said the problem was that he could only record one or the other on his recording device. He had the channels, just not the ability to record both at once. Might not have been available on-demand on the TNT website (presuming they actually do that?) so soon after the game.
I know Karen is naturally protective of the women’s team but it’s incredible bias to say they didn’t let the occasion get to them. We were out the gate and hosed within 15 minutes. The only credible thing is we avoided the complete annihilation that threatened to happen. We weren’t competitive anymore than a D3 team is against a D1 side in football.
And what anyone should have in this day and age is IPTV, the absurd amount of money it would cost to have all UK and Ireland sports channels and still miss out on almost all of my team’s 3PM kickoffs is a kafkaesque nightmare at this point.
No that doesn't explain it. He said he had to watch the man city game on rte news in SD which he recorded. He wouldn't have had to do this is he had TNT as they were showing them both in HD.
Vera would have had them competitive.
Another day, another stream of thought.
would guess he usually watches the RTE coverage, so when setting the record a few hours in advance he just did that. He sounded actively surprised to find it was only in SD.
He’s also talked about TNT/BT coverage loads of times in the past.
Look, he said he was sure they had the rights - that's good enough for me!
There are ways of watching TNT without paying for the channels. Apparently.
Ha, sure don't I know it! but as a sports journo, odds are he probably does actually just have the channels, given how many times he's talked about their coverage in the past, and how he made a point of talking about why he had to source it elsewhere this time since he could only record one.
And IF Ken did happen to have IPTV how might he go about recording the two games he wanted to watch later that evening.
He was watching the Ireland women I think so that's why he didn't watch City match on TNT?
Brannos story from the jacks at the Cantona gig was funny I thought "what the f*ck is this?!"
I also think it's nice to get a break from murph now and again. The football conversations this week between eoin and Ken especially flowed better without murphs interruptions and forced banter.
Often the football chat between the lads is better than when a contributor is involved. Between the lads the tone of the conversation is a bit more jovial, men at it.

I’m hoping this story is covered today. Definitely one of the craziest things to happen this season.
tivimate makes it a piece of piss, just set to record both shows. granted you'll need an IPTV that allows you to view multiple channels simultaneously but still
Ken has been on flying form recently. Not just this week but the last few. Very enjoyable
Golf is far more interesting to hear people talk about than it is to actually watch.
So the FAI actually made a play for Ole and he said thanks, no thanks. Pretty cool that he said he has complete respect for the country though 😎.
Where does this end ? How low can we go ?
Funny how they often enough mention that baseball is a sport dying on its arse, but never that golf is in exactly the same boat.
How low can we go? Staunton MkII.
A player who's a nice guy but has zero managerial experience, sure what could go wrong?
