If we are including online stations, I should also mention John Clarke - Charity Radio.
Another name: Phil Cawley - South East Radio and possibly still Classic Hits.
Also, I think Lisa Gernon may still be with Classic Hits.
Adrienne O'Hora is a presenter on Freedom FM, an online-only station.
As is Mike O'Brien.
Michaela Hayes did overnight presenting (perhaps pre-recorded) in the earlier days. She is on Spin 103.8 now.
Here is a feature that could be returned to again - former Radio Nova presenters now involved in some capacity with other Irish stations.
Colm Hayes and Lucy Kennedy (Colm and Lucy), Ruth Scott, Enda Murphy - Classic Hits
Enda Murphy, Carol Dooley - Sunshine 106.8
Johnny Bowe - Dublin's Q102
Paul Moriarty - podcasting coordinator with RTE
Breffni Clack - East Coast FM
If you think of more….
Yesterday was ‘hung’ today was ‘shelved’ or ‘shelf’ - @hold my beer
He still does that sort of thing in Europe for some Australian stations too I think.
Anyone hear the clue they gave at 7.30am for the what's the sound game.
I think she's the Stevie Nicks tribute act.
Your best bet is Zenith Classic Rock.
Are there any Irish rock radio stations though, or would they be digital / online ones?
where rock lives
Planet Rock is the go to station for rock fans!
I'm not sure why Nova listeners are complaining - just tune out and forget that it exists, there are countless other "Rock" stations available.
+1 on Coldplay. There's absolutely no need for that sort of thing.
if i had my way, half the play list would be culled, but then they'd lose listeners and I'd be culled 😄
No. It's always the Stereophonics. As bland mainstream as it gets.
I thought the same re Dermot Kennedy over the past week - this has no place on Nova, but then neither should Coldplay imo. At least he's Irish, so I'm willing to forgive a little more.
Just heard George Ezra, so switched off.
It's nothing new I'm afraid, I've heard Gavin James' "Hearts on Fire" on the station as well.
In My Place
Funny. I'm listening to Nova at the moment, came across your post at random and In My Place was on the radio. 😁
They're drifting into that territory more and more.
Theres enough radio stations playing that type of boring modern pap, if Nova wants to become another 104 or 98fm they won't last long.
Same thing happened me last night. I think they've changed the playlist recently, this has no place on it in my opinion.
Nice to have a few days without the f*ckin New Radicals, mind you.
I was amazed to hear a Dermot Kennedy song on nova earlier, didn't think he fit the nova profile
I thought there was radio station interference (happens in an area near me, another station will cut in on the car radio over nova)
but Tom’s singing on most of the older songs / bigger hits so that could be why they are avoiding them.
At the end of the day I wouldn’t be a fan of the Nova general playlist for the most part so happy to hear Kasabian on the radio, even if it’s not their best work
Doubt it's that, Sergio wrote almost everything since the start.
I say that since Tom left the band after domestic abuse allegations came out, the radio station would only want to be playing songs from Serge. Agree though that they have better Tom-less songs though, even on the newer Tom-free album there’s plenty of choice.
They were unreal in the Olympia a few months back.
A peek at Clint's LinkedIn tells me that he used to be a... showbiz and entertainment reporter, back in Australia.
Do they ever play the Rod Stewart version of H&G? The Stereophonics version seems to be more commonplace on the radio.
3 liitle birds, whats the appeal? Its played constantly.
Wonder if the repetition is down to ya man Clint taking over as PD? Assume Colin has no input on Nova now.
How much of the station is voice tracked? They seem to have a lot more live content that Classic Hits these days?
