What happens where a smart meter hasn't been installed yet?
've been calling ESBN for the last 9m asking when will I get a smart meter but they say each time that they don't have contractors in my area blah blah….
you don't contact the ESB Networks, you contact your supplier who in turn contact the ESB Networks for the meter switch.
Have you got the letter out about the switch to smart meters? Came last september? Mine was quickly followed up with one from the contractor from the area a week or so later.
Deemed export seemed to stop for everyone not yet on a SM around christmas last year.
thanks @graememk, didn't know that! just plugged the plug myself on a SM EV tariff from Energia so no going back now!
Anyone else get their Clean Energy email from Pinergy this month? Their payment doesn't match the amount of export reported in my HDF file. There is about 16kwh in the difference.
Anyone else noticed this?
27kwh difference for me and not the first time it's wrong either.
Yeah same here, 31kwh difference. Debating if it's worth the pain of speaking with them again ha :(
Is it a consistent error, eg if the time period was a little bit out?
It's the first time I've noticed it. Normally eyeball the Solis data and it's close enough but was a good bit off this month and double checked the HDF file then after seeing the comments here. For me looks like they started counting from 05/03/2024 15:00:00. Adding the export before that adds up to the difference I am seeing.
Does the Pinergy export payment go for the calendar month or for the billing cycle?
Mine was a bit short too but not too much.
It hasnt stopped, I'm on deemed export and received payment on my 2 bills this year including last month
It seems it is for the calendar month. The billing cycle seems to allign to calendar months for me anyway.
For the month of Feburary the amount they paid me exactly matches what I exported according to the HDF file.
Issue only seems to be with this March for me. I will probably give them the 31kwh for free to save me from interacting with them again…
Good to know, there had been reports that it had.
Apologies if this is a silly q but are those the prices you get irrespective of what tarrif you are on with the companies above?
Yup.
It stopped for new installs after September I think and anyone who refused a smart meter should be excluded but as said on the other thread a member who refused had their FIT cancelled but then received a payment after a few months of getting none. Post #5 here
Doubt it, I looked at my February payment and it 100% matches ESBN data.
I have come here to ask about this. Exported 438kWh got credit for 406kWh
On my last bill from energia, the export period was different than the import period if you get what I mean. Check that
Can someone give me an idiots guide to getting the months worth of export data from ESBN?
My inverter stats say I exported 194kWh in March but Pinergy have paid me for 176kWh.
Download the HDF file from ESBN.
Open this in Excel or Libreoffice Calc and it should give you five columns - MPRN, METER SERIAL NUMBER, READ VALUE, READ TYPE, READ DATE AND END TIME.
Don't know about Excel but in Libreoffice Calc your can select the top row, 1, with all the headings and then 'Auto Filter' this and you can then sort by READ TYPE.
This should sort the readings into import and export.
You can then Autosum these to give you a total which your then divide by 2 as the readings are at 30min intervals.
just in case you’re making the same mistake as me, I was selecting a maximum range of one week, but eventually copped it gave me my full history since smart meter installation.
poor user design tbh
Inverters seem to always overestimate this number, I have a shelly which is much more accurate but even that is a bit off compared to the meter
What does the smart meter say, I'm still taking photos last day of the month for true figures
Haven't looked at the meter since the day it went in!
Once I removed everything but March I uploaded the hdf file to energypal.ie. Edit the file in a text editor.
The figure there tallied with my spreadsheet calculation and was reasonably close to what the inverter and myenergi app said.
Actual export 438kWh (inverter reported 448 and myenergi 452)
There's an Android app for that. 😁 Use the beta, as it fixes the MPRN listing, I'll promote it next week if there are no issues. Stick in the ESBN credentials, select the MPRN, fetch the data, then go to graphs. The totals for the selected period are below the pie charts.
Myenergi app says 209kWh.
After seeing all these posts decided to check this myself. The latest Energia bill includes a new field for CEG Export Period which I never had before. Bill reporting 286.168 export units and my inverter reports 286.89 kWh for same period.
One thing to note is the billing period and export period don't match! As my bill period is from 02/02/2024 - 06/04/2024 but CEG is 29/01/2024 - 03/04/2024
(side note: why with a non smart day/night plan on new smart meter can they remotely read my export but still ask me to provide a reading for day/night! )
It's just a energia thing, your on DN you get a request for meter reads.
You'll notice ESBN do send the bi monthly meter reads in as normal from the smart meter. (Visible on the ESBN website)
