Following on from main thread in Current Affairs about Tubs in general (now closed and mod suggestion that Entertainment category is more suitable).
Indeed, entertainment in certain respects is what Tubs has provided, albeit perhaps in a way not intended. And still awaiting 150k payback to the licence fee holder.
And of course, his new career in Virgin Radio which is imminent.

This I would like to know (and might have even asked it myself a while back), as it would be very interesting if its the former..
The YouTube figures will be public at least.. but I'd imagine of podcasts going out on multiple services, Youtube would account for the least, particularly if not overly visual based.. (be bad enough listening to him, than looking at him as well).
Is it possible to monitor the success of a podcast in terms of listeners? Or is this information only held by the podcaster themselves?
I am listening to The Rest Is Entertainment presented by Richard Osman and Marina Hyde, they had a question about book podcasts and they basically said that the idea for a lot of celebrities is to show their more intellectual side, and that books don't really sell from podcasts, they also spoke about TV book clubs like Oprah and Richard and Judy. Interestingly they said that Reece Witherspoon basically buys up TV rights for books she has on her podcast and then produces them. While both are clearly political its an interesting insight into the Entertainment industry if you looking for something to listen too.
The serendipity of someone other than Tubridy? People could get used to this kind of thing. :)

😁 I think someone different is filling in tomorrow.
Acast is a distribution system not a podcast production company. NewsUK use Acast themselves.
Bobson as clued up as ever. The lads still dreaming of Dire Straits after midnight somewhere up a hill in Leinster
NewsUK have a podcast division, and their Irish arm has one too.
Will you be switching the dial then?
I'd say he'll get Hilary Clinton on it too.
Probably Pres Higgins too, he just loves an opportunity to talk.
Maybe previous presidents too? The 2 Mary's.
Times Newspapers are a major podcaster. But they already have a much better known U.K. name presenting their books podcast
Did anyone else read about the 'NK pipeline' and picture the pipeline Andy Dufresne used to escape from Shawshank?
It sounds like none of this involves Ryan reading any books himself
I get the impression you hate men from your posts. Well apart from our Ryan.
Not just men to be fair. The Journal comments section is not representative of society at all.
Martin should refuse to vacate the seat :)
Martin King has been in this week on Q102, replacing him, and mentioned regularly that Tubridy would be back next week,
Yes but not as much as Amazon. There are some cities and towns outside Dublin with their own bookshops too.
Easons delivering nationwide these days, would have some brand recognition outside Dublin?
Very much the Dublin market as Easons doesn't have a nation-wide bookshop chain. Might fit in with some local advertising on Dublin radio stations.
Desert Island Discs with books. A good idea, as the host does not have read the books as part of a book review. The guest will talk about their favourite books. An issue for Eason as some of the books discussed may no longer be in print, so will not generate sales.
Comments aren't very enthusiastic....

the press announcement is all ex this and ex that. Irish sponsor so very much specific to the Irish market. No tie in with Virgin or News U.K. which suggests no deepening of the relationship with that group
Is that like they announce "big hitters" on rte for one of their celebfests variety shows, and it just turns out to be the usual suspects from the canteen?
Can’t say anything at the moment but been hearing rumours on the Dublin media grapevine that Ryan has some “big hitters” lined up for this.
you know what,
Good luck to him, he has tried to reinvent himself, he had a cushy number in RTE, he is now working in the private sector, and is making an effort
Ah now, he will have to have read a book a week at least. Hence the need to knock the radio show on the head 😁
“This has been a passion project of mine for a couple of years now but I could never quite find enough time to put it all together," Tubridy says.

He was finished at ten o'clock in the morning for the last ten years. Apparently he didn't have enough time to record an hour long interview outside this.
Has Tubridy returned to Virgin Radio after his break or is this podcast meant to replace his radio show?
Any books over 400 pages?
