It is made by BYD aka Build Your Dreams. Hope it comes here and that they change the name before it does,
This could really challenge the Tesla Model 3.
It looks great inside and out
Not true - Mine is RWD and it was included.
Its not smooth as its appears to be dirt caught in the transition of the plastics. You'd need to clean it out. Why not ask the sales person no one here can touch the vehicle so an opinion isn't worth much on the Internet.
I don't know if it's still done, but cars transiting by ocean used to be liberally gunked up to protect from sea water damage. It was usually the job of some apprentice to clean it all down before handing over to a customer.
I had the same response. Apparently the "service manager" said it was available for AWD only. I've asked them to provide any public material that states this as the brochure suggests otherwise.
I'm not confident but they did acknowledge the NFC card was not supplied
Maybe its a specific dealer. Mine is in the south east
V2L and NFC should be there.
Let's be clear with them this is the marque model in the region. It's meant to have everything in the brochure.
It's not the dolphin or atto
The NFC card was missing from my RWD but it was a dealer error and it was provided a week later.
there was no V2L in mine on inspection. I only copped it because of you guys here. Said it to him before I opened the boot. He told me it’s definitely there. “Find it for me” I said. 60 secs later, “no worries, I’ll grab you one from inside”. 100% included with both models. Don’t back down. My money is on you mentioning it once more, forcefully, and you’re walking away with one.
Regenerative braking.
It’s there. But very weak. Do you guys think that an improvement is something that could be pushed out via OTA update (if they chose to do so) or must it have to be mechanical implementation from build stage ?
There's two levels of regen just in case you're not aware. I find high plenty strong.
yes, aware. But true one pedal driving (akin to Tesla) would be a great addition I feel.
That's not possible at the moment. Yeah it's sorely missed.
Not for me I want brakes and I think the majority feel the same way. Blind faith inone pedal for all isn't one I want to have in a vehicle I own.
Don't forget they stripped all that out for cost not for the driver.
It would be a brilliant add on. One things that’s missing IMO. When the i3, Kia, leaf, Tesla and many others have it, at least give the option.
Why are the salesmen holding back on them? For themselves? For selling in the future?
Like there’s no benefit for them to be holding them back? Strange from the dealers here especially as it appears to be hit and miss.
I will confirm though that when I was in North Dublin, it was mentioned and confirmed that it came with the AWD but I can’t confirm the RWD as I didn’t discuss that version unfortunately.
They aren't mutually exclusive. You can still use the brakes if you want.
And the function was stripped out because of cost I’d imagine. It wonder can it actually be added by an update?
Fair
I Agree totally, not in the least bit interested in one pedal driving
Dont think there's any evidence it was cost.
Only article I read with an official comment was that byd don't believe that it feels like a premium feature or something that people want.
Coming from an i4 that allowed you to turn it on or off I felt one pedal driving was far superior, but my wife hated it.
It was more a comment as others posted that traditional braking was removed because of cost cutting exercise which is quite strange commentary 🤷
I think the Chinese interpretation of premium is a little flawed, especially when they list licence plate lights as a feature, maybe we have become to accustomed to it.
I believe the choice to have it on/off would be welcomed.
Tesla removed the option the not have regenerative breaking about 3 years ago. A prelude to stripping out brakes entirely and the cost associated with that system. You'll probably start hearing that chatter in robotaxi. Tesla have skewed people's version of what premium is because they think an entirely barren interior with a glass screen for control means premium. 🤷
Tesla are not a premium car. They are a mass produced Chinese family saloon car, similar to MG, BYD, Toyota, Kia, Hyundai etc
Design preference is personal. The minimalist interior really appeals to me, as it always did as my i3 was very minimalist before Tesla was a thing so no, Tesla has certainly not skewed my personal tastes.
Driving characteristics are personal. If you don’t like regen, buy a different car. I don’t understand people’s spiteful bitterness that other people like other options. Get over it. It would be nice to have the choice though. It’s the same way people like buttons and rotating screens. Gimmicks and in no way makes a car premium despite what the brochure says. The screen in my cousins atto has been rotated once. The day he collected it and it’s sat in the current landscape position since then. Silly yoke of thing.
completely agree.
It’s there, just not as effective as that of the Tesla. Hence my question. OTA could possibly add a third setting. STANDARD & HIGH are currently selectable. So I cannot see ‘the stripped out for cost’ logic. And as previously mentioned, it’s not for everybody of course, but it is not a ‘disabling’ of the age old brake pedal. Simply an addition to.
another question for owners. SCREEN BRIGHTNESS. Both screens. I find it a little dim personally, even on full brightness, when in bright non cloud conditions. Thoughts?
And what is this silver button for?!
Maybe to remove the cupholder for cleaning? Can't see anything else nearby that it could affect.
press it 😂
It will automatically send a tweet at Musk with a picture of the car and the hashtag #NotATesla
