I've had a suggestion to set up a Gas BBQ thread.

If, like me, you've chosen to go with gas as opposed to charcoal because it's just so damn quick and easy then maybe we can use this thread to get the most out of it.

I'll start off with how to turn your gas bbq into a smoker......

I got this gas/charcoal smoker for around £170 on Amazon and it's epic. I just use wood chips in a smoke box but I have used charcoal too. Have done brisket, whole chicken, pork belly, and beef ribs - a great piece of kit!

Plenty of 2nd hand Webers in good condition appear on Adverts. That's where I got mine. They go quickly.

Really considering selling mine - it’s a number of years old but still great and has the cast iron grates and nearly new gas connection - haven’t used in about a year as using charcoal BBQs mostly these days - I’d say I’d have sellers regret as soon as I sell - any idea what say 6 year old Weber gas BBQs are going for?

Read the fine print on the warranty, 10 year usually only covers cook box on most of weber products especially the cheaper models. some items have as little as 1 year warranty, most stuff is 3 years

I usually charcoal than the electric grill. I just really can't get the vibe using electric there's a fulfillment feeling using charcoal and fanning it.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a reasonably cheap gas griddle/flat top? A Blackstone knock off basically.

I have a Weber charcoal kettle which I am happy with but looking to get a griddle for doing burgers, sausages etc quickly and using the Weber for longer cooks.

The Blackstone 22” is around €350 which seems a bit much for a secondary grill.

7 year / start of its 8th season Sahara started first time there - heating it up to burn off anything built up over the winter and knock out some burgers for tonights dinner.

Its stored outdoors all the time, under the official cover, which does fly off every so often in the wind and needs replacing due to UV damage every few years.

I've replaced the 'flavour bar' baffles due to rust, and the grill structure because I wanted the newer type - it could probably have done a year or two more.

I'd consider it all right, but haven't seen many decent second hand options, maybe some will come online as people buy newer models leading in to the summer. No real rush on it anyway.

I got our Weber Q2200 for 199 from Woodies last year, keep your eyes open and you might get a similiar deal, very happy with it, no need for anything bigger, have used mine throughout winter as well. Today we made toasted cheese and onion sandwiches on it. Best purchase!

I got a Sahara S350 in woodies last week, 10% off first online order brought it down to €405. Got a few accessories and a nice awning to keep it dry. Very happy with the S350 so far. Went with Sahara as they are very responsive to problems and parts.

Did a cook tonight on my S350. Into my 3rd summer with it and still loving the timber side trays. Super handy for loading up in & out of the kitchen. Also I have the griddle pan and use that for frying up veg - esp onions. Top tray great for keeping everything warm. Havent had an issue with anything - but I do keep it tidy enough and in the garage when not in use.
