Feels like the right time to start a new thread for next year's gigs.
John Mayer playing the 3Arena on 29 March 2024.
I wasn't thinking that could be the case. I was hoping to catch him in Dublin somewhere.
Did you catch any of Mammoth WVH, the support act?? Any idea how long they were on for??
Loved their first album and the second one is growing on me too. I think they share guitarist Frank Sidoris with Slash's band.
Leftfield and Snooper tickets bought here too but I'm not decided yet about Arab Strap. Interesting that I'm seeing lots of MCD sponsored posts for Galway gigs in my social timelines recently. Pushing the Madness, Waterboys and Pixies gigs in Galway Airport and Peter Hook & the Light in Leisureland. I've already got tickets for all of those except Madness, but I guess sales haven't gone as well as they'd hoped if they are having to push them so hard at this point.
No, i was in at 8, just missed them …
Didn't go myself seeing Slash and Myles in there natural environments over the last few years is enough but the band are tight. Myles is a great front man and Slash is a guitar god. Great to see they done mostly originals instead of covers (saw them in 2010 in Vicar Street and due to having very little originals they had to do covers)
Saw Mammoth WVH twice as support and was very impressed. Wolfie doing his band proud
Arab Strap could be the best of those, and the first (only one?) to sell out. If not quite your thing then of course don’t bother but it’ll be the most atmospheric local gig of September I believe.

The report, Pascrell says, details “rampant corrupt and abusive practices by the Live Nation-Ticketmaster monopoly.”
The report lays out in detail allegations of anti-competitive business practices used by the entertainment giant for more than a decade, according to Rep. Pascrell’s office."

I think they did about an hour, I missed the start of their set I got in a bit after 7, they finished around 8.Yeah they were pretty good, WVH did mention Frank was in both bands alright.
They were on dead on 7:30 and off at 7:59
Yes their guitarist was also a Conspirator:
Mammoth:

Yep, loved the last album, had to get rid of my ticket for their last visit but have my ticket again for Dublin this time round.
that was actually kickbacks/rebates the other way from venue holder etc to livenation to screw over co promoter
Yes I know, I was being sarcastic.
John mayer in the 3arena tonight was phenomenal, if im not mistaken this show was the first post in this thread.
Anyway brilliant artist and hopefully he will be back soon, the 3 can be hit and miss for sound but it was spot on tonight
Agree. I guess it's hard to mess sound up when it's just guitar vocals and piano for 3 songs.
Great night. Such a performance. Equal parts musician and comedian
Had to sell my ticket due to some committment. Raging I missed 3x5 live. Would have lived him to tour Sob rock here. Perfect album
Its usually too much bass that messes it up so if its acoustic thats largely not an issue.
Even venues with poor sound like the Marquee can be very good for acoustic acts or acts that don't overly rely on drums.
Arxx, Button Factory, Thursday 10th October: https://singularartists.ie/show/arxx-24/
Fans of Broken Social Scene may or may not be interested to know that frontman Kevin Drew is in Cork, Dublin and Galway from Tues-Thurs 23rd-25th July.
Great news. Must be part of the Arts Fest here and will get announced officially with other acts. Simple Kid also very likely to play.
Loved 'You forgot it in People', one great night in Vicar Street at them, strangely no clear memory of their appearance at EP, although I was defo there. Has Kevin released solo stuff?
Excellent at EP in 2006/07, but I think I missed them on their return. Back in the day when you had so much on you could skip bands like BSS.
Loved them at that time, both at EP and in Vicar St. Saw their return at EP and left after 20 minutes thinking "what did i ever see in this lot?" I had most definitely moved on.
The Dandy Warhols and The Black Angels, The Academy, Sunday 29th September: https://mcd.ie/artists/the-dandy-warhols-the-black-angels
Nice double-header.
Just realised it's the same night as The Go Team playing their debut album in the Button Factory. I'll be opting for the Dandys / Angels.
Have seen The Dandy Warhols 6 times (4 in Greece - including an epic 3 hour gig) and they are always great fun.
Listening to the new album now, fairly good and some interesting collaborations.
Mexican rock band The Warning come to the Academy in Dublin, July 25th.
Oh, nice!!
glass animals 3 arena 30 October
Darn thought it was 'kids in glass houses'
Forbidden Fruit day to day lineup announced. Its pretty good so far. Looking forward to Bicep and Barry Can't Swim.
Any decent acts you recommend??
Not being able to delete is stupid
