… I hate outing myself like this, but I liked the Alone on the Dark game on Xbox 360. Which probably doubles its fanbase. Just me and maybe the lead designers mother perhaps.
I liked the part in central park where you hit the curb and were launched into the skybox.
I remember it had a DVD style menu where you could skip parts of the game which usually meant you skipped the broken bits or when you got a soft lock bug.
RDR2 actually got an update. But still no 60 FPS on consoles. But maybe a step towards that.
Beautiful game.
While playing Red Dead Online last night, I saw a wagon getting repaired. Beautiful thing to see.
Playing Spider-Man 2 and wondering why do some games have multiple save slots but don't let you copy from one to another? Like this has 6 save slots.
I occasionally make a backup copy before loading my save in case I want to go back for some reason.
Or just do autosave and manual saves and you can revert to any.
Anyone that says videogames are rubbish now deserves to be slapped. Eurogamer has 3 reviews of games I want to play today alone all with great to excellent reviews.
Feel like I've fallen into old habits again with Cyberpunk by checklisting stuff instead of just enjoying the game by pottering about and doing things naturally instead of "Gig-gig-gig-gig-gig." etc.
Then again, I don't feel like I'm enjoying the game any less. The gameplay is satisfying.
Played a few hours of Rise of the Ronan.
It’s decent but it also feels like a game that came out 5 odd years ago. The graphics are noticeably basic by modern standards.
There are some Ubisoft smells in it too.
I was looking at the intro's of some F1 games. These two are when Ubisoft had the licences.
F1 Racing Simulation, based on the 1996 season:
F1 Racing Championship based on the 1999 season:
Loved playing those games on PC in the 90's and 00's.
Enjoying it?
It doesn't come as a surprise that a user with that name and avatar would be a fan of 1990s F1 😂
But I do remember playing the old F1 games from the PS1, great balance between arcade and simulation, I think sports games in general have lost that sensibility.
Codemasters recent f1 games are great at giving you plenty of options to play them as essentially arcade racers or full on sims.
GOTY circa 2012-15.
:pac:
I picked up Hotline Miami for €1.99 and Hotline Miami Wrong Number for €2.24 on the Xbox Store.
These guys are geniuses. Must see if the actual full video is available later from GDC.
And the best thing is that I've less than 50% of TOTK done (completed main game and maxed out an armour set).
This game (and BOTW) needs/deserves better hardware. But I'm not paying again for a 60 FPS only upgrade
There's an EDF humble bundle. If you want helldivers but with way more jank and the nonsense lever dialled way up then its a must have especially with friends.
Finally started Phantom Liberty DLC. I didn't realise I could have started it much earlier.
Very disappointing to see them bring in the Sony "interactive cut scenes", you know the press x at the right time to dodge type thing. Also the over guidance. "Mmmm whats this?" and "There's a hatch, maybe we can jump?"
Any Bioshock fans interested in Judas from Ken Levine might want to check out the latest Friends Per Second podcast.
Jakey with a new vid, returning to Red Dead Redemption 2 as he heavily (and rightly so) criticised it previously but this time with mods to improve certain things. Damn, wish those mods were on console but also this made me really want to reinstall RDR 2 for another gallop.
Also, RDR 1 remaster was added to GTA+ subscription so if you wanted to play the remaster, you can get 1 month subscription for 6 euro.
As someone who recently returned to RDR2, I went from originally not finishing the game 5 years ago (probably not even half way through) to it now being my favourite game of all time.
I didn't use mods and I can't say it has anything to do with any improvements they made. It's simply a change in my own attitude. I went from not having much time 5 years ago to now being more mature, more chilled and having the time to put 2hr+ sessions into the game.
I don't think I truely understood the game originally. This time around, I was ooohhh I get it now. Chill out, enjoy the slow pace, soak up the scenery. Live the life of a cowboy. It is intentionally slow paced to mimic how things were in the time period and location.
All the small things people hate, i love. Setup a camp, cook some food, have a nap. Some call it a waste of time, I loved every second of it.
I dont think i will ever uninstall it. Theres definitely another play through in it for me. Such a pity they didn't do any dlc. Damn GTA6 for this.
I read recently that inside info claims there is a 60 fps new gen patch ready since last summer but they didn't want it to overshadow GTA 6 news which just sounds mental but you never know with these big companies.
I love fishing in Red Dead Online. So relaxing. Bringing fresh fish back to your camp and cooking them on the camp fire.
I went out a wagon with another player on a trip through the desert. Really relaxing.
It's their 2nd most successful game behind GTA5. The online versions are of course responsible for that. So you'd have to imagine they have something in the pipeline.
We can only hope RDR3 is already well in progress. Because waiting another 10 years or more for more RDR is depressing.
There was a patch/update for RDR2 recently, so I definitely think a 60 FPS version is coming soon. They are definitely doing something with the codebase.
I'm hoping Ubisoft will release a new Watch Dogs game this year.
Sold some stuff in CEX and getting TLOU part 1, Stray and Sackboy in Smyths (there is a sale at the moment). +1000 for linear, short, fun video games.
I never even thought about that but I loved all three even though the main character was completely different in each one.
When is the best time to play the DLC? Mid-game, late game?
