Feels like the right time to start a new thread for next year's gigs.
John Mayer playing the 3Arena on 29 March 2024.

Second time seeing Pretty Happy last night. The music is class and they're bloody tight. However, I'll probably never warm to the vocals.
They opened Glasto to circa 60k people 21 months ago. They can still command significant slots at music festivals including headlining Benicàssim in July. They’re definitely a big act for such a small venue.
Excellent, thanks.
that's 4 nights in a row in Ireland, in 4 different cities. I wouldn't get my hopes up for Galway, but I would be interested.
The Róísín shares a lot of acts with Dolans and Cyprus Avenue but just a little too small (280 capacity). Maybe the Black Box at 800?
Or even Monroes live, that's a little bigger I think.
350 capacity but the Róísín would get first option given their links with the other venues (also with Whelans) and they regularly co-ordinate acts for Irish tours. Gugai also books The Loft, Black Box and Leisureland, two of which would be appropriate for the Livertines.
Not sure if it's already been mentioned, but Melts are doing an Irish tour in September.
Cork 19/09
Listowel 20/09
Limerick 21/09
Galway 26/09
Belfast 27/09
Dublin 28/09
A little underwhelming alright, €66 inc fees for tickets bought on eventbrite, buying on TM is more expensive, onsale this Thursday, with an artist presale on Wednesday.

Have seen them twice, last September and about 2 years before that, saw a massive improvement last September, i’d go see them again
I like Monroes but I went to see Inhaler there and it was really hard to actually see them with the massive area they had blocked off with mixing desks and crew etc.
Tempting for Belfast!
The problem with ticket prices like Steve nicks is live nation own every party involved in putting on the gig.
They own the following.
Promoter - MCD
Venue - 3 arena
Ticket agent - Ticketmaster.
It's a total monopoly and should never have been allowed happen.
The artist asking for a big fee doesn't help either.
As much as live nation is profiting on all aspects of such a show, it’s the artist fee that drives ticket prices. You can be guaranteed that Stevie nicks required over a €1m for playing 3 arena. This drives the high price. Ticketmaster charges flat fees to the customer, 3 arena charges flat fees to promoter and promoter has profit sharing deal with artist that’s lower than what people thing. They might get a few % of revenue
Well sure, the artist is a big part but Live Nation profits were up over 25% last year, Fanirish. UP 25%. Over 5 BILLION. So you know, not just the artists. They're all in there pushing that dirty envelope at the cost of us poor music fan saps.
The Libertines have announced a show at Cyprus Avenue this August - with only 500 tickets available for the intimate venue.
The band will be performing at the city centre venue on September 22nd
Tickets will go on sale on the Ticketmaster website at 9am on Thursday
I mean if Stevie Nicks is really demanding, and getting, a million yoyos to play the 3arena, they can absolutely all go **** themselves. What has the world come to?
If the artists insisted on certain pricing that wouldn’t be happening. Not saying LiveNation are innocent by any means because they aren’t but perhaps the biggest service they provide to the artist is to take most of the flak for high prices.
How much did Michael Rapino the CEO of Livenation make in 2022 ?
139 million dollars, 5,414 times more than Live Nation’s median income of $25,673.
The man is a destroying the music industry.
Fanirish's ticketmaster/mcd/live nation apologism right on time...
Profits were not €5billion in 2023. They did €22bn in revenue and €1.8b in operating income. so revenue to profit ratio is less than 10%. So whilst a monopoly it’s not the main cause of €300 tickets to Stevie nicks or pearl jam
Not apologism but reality is for those mega acts it’s artist that is ticket price driver.
the likes of Bruce, Stevie etc extract every penny they can from shows including from livenation itself with reason. Live nation does make good money on shows but it’s false to blame them for €300 Stevie nicks ticket when it’s her fee that the largest part of what people pay.
and others have mention Paul heaton or the cure for artists charging reasonable fees and ticket prices.
I know it's a "not seeing the forest for the trees" thing (or whatever the exact phrase is) but for me the most annoying thing is the ticketmaster service charge. What exactly is the service they offer? For the expensive tickets it can easily be 7-10 euro - that's a lot of money even if they have to cover certain costs.
And very difficult to avoid them. Bord Gais if you can buy from box office is an option (1.50 per ticket) and Whelan's only charge 0.50 or 1 euro per ticket. Haven't bought from tickets.ie in a while but they used to charge a very small service fee.
Irish service charges on Ticketmaster are actually quite low by international standards.
Charges in the US are insane and even in the Uk service charges are much higher than Ireland, they can be anything up to £25.
Yes, very true. Still though, very difficult for me to understand the logic. In my opinion this is the worst aspect of this monopoly. Fair play to Robert Smith who made a fuss about it.
Alot of the service charges in the US and UK are actually kickbacks to the artist.
Its just sheer greed.
I noticed Melanie Martinez standing tickets for the 3Arena are 95 euro, she played the Olympia a few years back, think the tickets were ~40 euro.
YEEESSSS!! Galway Arts Fest. @rubick
