Sunny day here today, was tempted to let some animals out but the forecast Monday onwards is brutal.
Nothing out yet, enough silage for 3 weeks left
Wind wind and more wind
The rain here last night at around 2am was biblical... rain gauge overflowing this morning...
Yea ground is swimming here aswell. Back to square one again for the 10th time.
Square minus fifty more like, no talk of an improvement either.
On Saturday I decided to fill the land roller with water from an IBC. I save water from three small sheds roofs with this IBC. I emptied the 1000 into the roller and brought it to the field that needs rolling but didnt chance rolling. This morning (2 days later) i went to fodder the cattle in the yard where the IBC was, it had 700 litres of water in it!
Miserable morning here. Didn't get too much rain around here.
15ml in the rain gauge here, since last night
I'd say we got 1.5 inches in the last day and Friday night sat morning was a washout here
Shannon Airport data - it rained every day so far in March, with the 8th being the only dry day.
Is it just me or does it feel very cold for this time of year, I've used a full fill of Oil this winter already, before the fill of Oil lasted the whole year
There's a bite in the air the past few days, normally associate it with low sunshine levels in November, but yeah it's cold facing the first April....had it before tho
Think we need to start building Noah’s ark at this stage. Ffs the rain again last night. Water where there was never water lying before.
My sentiments exactly. Its serious now, fodder and all that. See Finnegan's Farm has terrible potato losses in some of the best ground there is.
The only thing is (if some consolation) we are all in this together, keep her lit.
is it time yet to start bringing fodder in from the UK ? there isn't a bale of straw in country the green party should be ran out of the place and there straw chopper with them
I think they are already importing straw
And black grass
Ya I hear its going to be an issue for tillage wouldn't know much about it its a fair bit since I was growing a crop
That’s a horrendous cold damp day here in south Meath , still feeding ewes a good go of nuts with lambs a month old . Lambs on creep feed too. No cattle out here til near April 20th I’d say . Have a good bit of silage lucky enough
Will the mild weather ever arrive
That's the problem. Mild winter/spring for us means rain and lots of it.
Wet and more wet after months of wet..and cold.
Bought more bales of silage today
Sorry I sold some in Jan now.
should still be grand but have a few in a field and it’s too wet I can’t get at them. Have enough hay in shed to last another 2 -3 weeks so should be ok.
I think we'll have to look for maritime maps soon if it doesn't stop with the floods
Rain is bad enough but here I'm getting a N or NE wind that's far from mild and no good to man or beast
Another bad night here in west Cork. I have a bad feeling il be back on the fags by the weekend.
Counted the bales today, I thought there was more. They have ate some stuff since mid Oct
Miserable morning, mixture of some sun then rain and sleet. Snow here on the comeraghs which is never a good sign.
Big snow flakes.
Ffs
In other news I hear there's a great summer coming, from multiple people. Even though we can only tell the weather forecast somewhat reliably for 7 or 8 days ahead. The first one to mention the Riabhach days is getting chased with the grape.
