I don’t think there is a WiFi system, other than that, no major changes
I can only see BA& IB moving to T2 as a result of the ground handling contract being issued. Current EI rolling stock consist of swivelling dollies which aren't really compatible with T1 baggage hall due to lack of space available. Operators stopping to load and offload cans from dollies could easily block the traffic to arrival belts.
Either they change out all their rolling stock and re train all staff, as well as split their team between two terminals or consolidate the operation and keep existing stock.
It will be interesting to see what option is taken.
They will be handled from T2 so check in and arrival will be via T2
BA/IB likely to use 300 gates which EI use heavily already unless its after 4pm when space opens up on the T2 pier
Gates 304/5 the furthest away are actually a shorter walk from T2 security than 426...
T2 Baggage Hall currently being enlarged I presume to allow for these flights. Actually extra loading areas being created not technically being expanded
Definite downgrade from the mainline fleet - no wifi, not sure of the IFE system.
Had some friends on it over Christmas IAD-DUB and they were not fans of the Spanish crew.
After all that we're on an Aer Lingus 330....🤦♂️
EI NSA is heading out to MAD later as well. First 320 Neo to go
Will the 330s be flying anywhere else in Europe this summer other than the usual Faro and Malaga?
More than likely not.
EI/QR Codeshare
The next A320neo is out in Toulouse, test reg F-WWBG, to be EI-NSE.
Are Aer Lingus due another a320 neo after NSE as well?
My understanding of a number of IAG investment Briefings is that IAG have ambitions to grow their MRO capabilities in Madrid to match both Lufthansa technik and AF/KL E&M.
So, I expect more and more EI's (and BA's) heavy maintenance to go to Madrid over time.
They have also let drop that to offer a full suite of services to complete, IAG would ideally like an inhouse GEnx operator....make of that what you will.... but at the IAG board level i suspect there will be inhouse pressure for either the current BA's B777 replacement search to be GEnx powered or IB/EI's future RFP for a A330 replacement to be GEnx powered.
Yes ei nsf
Four are currently on order directly from Airbus. I believe the plan is two this year, and two next year.
I’d expect more top orders soon depending on when IAG cough up the investment.
Ei def is flying out to tours in France today any idea what it's for
Women's Rugby Charter flight
Anyone know why some of the IAD flights have been cancelled recently? Aircraft gone tech?
Down 4 a330 at the moment privilege are operating Boston flight wamos landed this evening so say its down to aircraft shortages
Unplanned I'm guessing?
Seems wild to have to be doing hire in's this early in the season.
EI-LRE hasn’t flown since the 18th, could be tech with no spare A321LR as BDL and CLE have resumed.
EI-EIK, EI-EIN, EI-EAV, EI-GAJ are all in Bordeaux right now and that would be planned
EI-EAV would be expected back shortly, EIK is getting the full interior refit so could be a few more weeks so after Easter
EIN/GAJ only went down in the last few days
Once EI-EIK is back EI-EIL goes down so would be complete for mid May
Will they have the wamos a330 or privilege 757, A330 or 777 over the summer for extra demand?
I would say so except for the 757 that went to knock to be scrapped
EI-EAV is scheduled to fly back from Bordeaux this afternoon, so assuming that happens EAV will be back in revenue service Saturday
Nothing appears to be scheduled to go down to Bordeaux
Think DUZ is the only outstanding one ?
On the way back now and operating DUB AGP later on.
RR got absolutely smashed during COVID. Most airlines don't own their engines, they lease them from the engine manufacturer. RR would give airlines theirs for a song because they used "power by the hour" leases, i.e. you only paid for them while they were powered up. With so many aircraft grounded during COVID, their engines weren't operating and therefore no money was coming in. The other manufacturers copied the power by the hour concept to an extent but nowhere near as large scale.
The new RR CEO has tightened up the deals being offered, which isn't helping A330 Neo and A350 sales as you can only get those with RR engines for now at least (GE trying hard to get in on the A350 as the RR exclusivity on that model expires in 2029 IIRC).
Because RR are not offering the deals they used to, airlines are in a huff with them. BA traditionally went for RR engines on the 747s, 777-200s and 787s because of the British connection. They're likely making noises about reconsidering to turn the screws on RR in negotiations but could genuinely switch for future 787 orders if push comes to shove. EI publicly flirting with Boeing on the 787 combined with the noises about IAG bringing GENX maintenance in house likely feeds into that.
Heading down early April.
Approx 20 years ago my mate was in EI operations. It was when Willie Walsh was CEO. At that time they had painted 4 B737s in the "Aerlingus.Com" livery. Willie wanted these aircraft to be deliberately cycled through each destination.
By chance one of these airframes was a "power by the hour" lease. Willie was very upset to find that it was the designated standby for most of the week,
