Probably to late for a reply cam.anybody recommend a place to get Sunday lunch in Kildare Town or Newbridge.
Just a standard Sunday lunch/carvery.
There is nothing in Newbridge. The gallops opposite the Kildare Garda station or chapter 16/silken Thomas is decent for a carvery on a Sunday.
I'd recommend Cunningham's in Kildare town ....probably best to book though .

Sad reflection On our beloved town Damian, but You are 100% correct. Newbridge s really a sad place when it comes to dining out.
OP, have You thought of Kilcullen? I’m thinking of Fallons in particular.

Silken Thomas or Cunningham's in Kildare Town.
Nothing in Newbridge.
Closest place for a good Sunday afternoon meal is Athgarvan Inn which is very good and reasonably priced. Keadeen hotel does one too but found it pretty standard
Is Harrigans worth a try? Agree Keadeen is a bit bland for what you pay.
No. I was there last night and it was very poor. Fish was soggy, had a cold spot, and looked like something from Birds eye on the plate. They must have changed chef because I have had good meals previously. It's on my list of never to return.
Keadeen in the bar is decent but sit down at the tables out the back is poor. Menu appears to be similar but I'm not sure is it service or expectations but it's not good enough.
Has anyone tried either of these yet ? I haven't but am curious.
Delhi Darbar - Indian takeaway, Henry St
Lezzetli - does kebabs etc - Limerick Lane
Add to the list,
Toughars, if you have a car
Newbridge Silverware, and the benefit of no TVs showing Sunday soccer
Orby on the Curragh, smaller menu choice.
I've tried Delhi Darbar a couple of times since it opened and I haven't been disappointed yet. Thaiger is still my favourite in Newbridge (for takeaway or sit-down) but a Delhi Darbar takeaway isn't bad either. (By the way, the spicy chips in Thaiger are amazing. I'd have rice with the main meal but always get the spicy chips for later. They have peppers, onions and sometimes slivers of carrots in with them. 😋 )
I've heard a few negative things about Lezzetli but since I haven't tried it, I can't confirm.
Thanks!
Haven't been to Thaiger in years (since it was called "Weeping Thaiger", must rectify that)
Well I think you're right to get rid of Sky, its nothing but repeats ! I sorry but I don't know of anyone that can help though. All the best anyway.
I think youngs chemist bought it, going to be a doctor's surgery, waiting room, chemist all in one.
Sorry, what post are you commenting on?
Also not sure what you mean by sky repeats?
WishUWereHere, I think they might have been replying to posts #2 and #5 out of 1846 posts in this thread. 😊
Wow, from over 6 years ago?
Sorry, I'm new to all this,
As for the repeats, I have sky. Most things are shown over and over again.
I thought you might have been. You should try using the quote button so your comments will be in context, so will make more sense. 😊
Thank you. :)
That the first comment I seen, it was only when I answered it that I seen it was from 2017. My humble apologies.
Why do most cars driving into Newbridge not use the right-hand lane when approaching the roundabout at the Lidl warehouse? Was down that way last night and most of the traffic was in the left-hand lane. Have noticed this a few times now.
From rules of the road
Golden rule This ‘golden rule’ should help motorists to drive safely at any roundabout regardless of the number of exits:
Think of the roundabout as a clock. If taking any exit from the 6 o’clock to the 12 o’clock position, motorists should generally approach in the left-hand lane.
If taking any exit between the 12 o’clock to the 6 o’clock positions, motorists should generally approach in the right-hand lane.
If there are road markings showing you what lane you should be in, follow those directions. Traffic conditions might sometimes mean you have to take a different approach but, in the main, the ‘golden rule’ will help you to drive safely on almost any roundabout
The first exit to Great Connell = 9 o’clock
Second exit to town = 12 o’clock
The guidance should say
Left lane for 6 o’clock & 9 o’clock
Right lane for 12 o’clock & 3 o’clock
instead both suggestions mention 6 & 12 which may be confusing the motorists. There should be no overlap.
There was a case brought by a garda against someone who didn't just take their ticket. It was in Naas court just before Christmas and Zaidan found against the garda and said it was quite clear to any motorist that the right lane was the correct approach lane based on the approach signage that clearly showed the exit at the 2'oclock point. (Guy's solicitor had images)
Case was dismissed immediately with a few choice words about waste of court time. Garda didn't get a word in. Was quite funny.
exit is very clearly 2 o'clock. Both the signage and google satellite show it and also the engineers website with their aerial photo https://www.dbfl.ie/project/newbridge-south-orbital-relief-road/
I was referring to the roundabout closer to town - but that doesn't have a two lane approach so please disregard. Apologies.
If it’s the roundabout outside Wyeth You are referring to I think the markings for 2 lanes should be painted. I have approached here many times- especially if the traffic is crawling - and seen many cars unable to turn left for Great Connell because vehicles heading for town sitting in the middle. Easy to sit to the right as one approaches the roundabout to let those turning left turn unhindered.
True, it is wide enough to move to the right.
It's wide enough for car to be respectful and move to the right to let cars "jump" the queue and turn left, but not wide enough to officially have two lanes.
When the Inner relief road is built (2025 is possible, but likely 2026), most great connell cars will use that.
Young lad said something to me there, gun shots in Newbridge?
