I thought he would get some jail time especially since he ran from the cops and pleaded not guilty.
He's very lucky, but not a great role model for young gaa fans.
Got there in the end. Its a pity his slavish supporters don't see how serious and vile his actions were.
Any sane person would and I think l'm sane 🤔
On a personal level do you condemn his actions and what he did?
I didn't judge the case. Do any of you not get that. It doesn't matter a f**k what I think
He's right though. Do you condemn his actions? That's a yes or no question.
Nonsense. I let the courts do their job
Another "legend" let off with a slap on the wrist.
The typical Limerick supporter response.
Jesus. Are you referring to Putin or Kyle Hayes? Isn’t it great how people get so exercised over one case, which as you should know, HAS been dealt with by the courts. We don't need any self-appointed judge & jury thanks. Due process has been conducted
In fairness"do you know who I am" is is spouted by practically every scobe I have ever seen in a fight. Might be more about his associates than his hurling.
I mean no one knew who Ronnie Pickering was back when he said it either 🤣
Actually how has this affected his professional life never mind his sporting life?
I know HR is often full of backstabbing gossipy a**holes, but do you want someone working in HR who has criminal conviction for fighting and beating the cr** out of someone ?
In fairness, some of the fawning that goes on over players, in all counties, results in these gigantic egos. They're grown men running around a field after a ball. That's it. They're not nurses or doctors (well, a few of them are, but you know what I mean).
OK fair enough, but you take my point.
He "only" had 1 all-Ireland medal back then, not the 5 that he has now.
He had no All-Star awards back then, whereas now he has 4.
He'd won Man of the Match in an all ireland final.
Yes he will, and he picked him to play a league game against Dublin last month while already found guilty and awaiting sentencing. He said he had "no hesitation".
‘I had no hesitation picking Kyle Hayes’ says Limerick boss John Kiely | Irish Independent
And it was 5 years ago, so even as a hurler he hadn't done too much (yet). Which makes the "do you know who I am comment" even more astonishing.
What about the consequences for the person he attacked? Having drink 'on' you isn't an excuse for behaving like a thug. And the 'do you know who I am?' comment .... really! He's not even a professional athlete.
Yes it does seem that way.
Maybe there is some criticism from Limerick people on Twitter but I have seen not one bit of it on Facebook. I was looking last night on the popular GAA Facebooks and it is quite remarkable the huge number of them on there defending him.
You’d think he was after inventing a cure for cancer rather than viciously assaulting someone.
I won't be doing your research for you. Just one example. https://x.com/gertieluimneach/status/1770436463143817280?s=20
So all of 200000 ish of Limerick is on Social Media defending Hayes ?
Utter nonsense. I haven't seen one Limerick supporter criticise him on Facebook.
They are posting in their droves praising him to the skies and wishing him all the best.
Not all Limerick supporters are supporting him. Plenty of them are getting attacked on X and Facebook for criticizing Hayes and Kiely.
Of course Kiely is going to pick him, he also showed what kind of character he is during the whole process.
He played a significant role in Hayes getting let off so lightly.
The Limerick supporters really have shown themselves up for what they are (enter your own word here). Have a look at social media, they are all not just defending Hayes but singing his praises to the limit. I haven’t seen one Limerick supporter criticise him in any way, not one. When Aishling Thompson was in court for assault some Cork people were defending her too but not all of them were (including myself; I would never defend thuggery).
No one who does something like this goes to jail.
If he had 200 convictions already, he still wouldn't be going to jail.
That's down to our government refusing to build any jail for decades at this stage.
I would say though that if he was an ordinary punter he wouldn't have the 10k fine.
Kilkenny and Galway are always going to be higher in the betting as the task facing them is judged to be easier, ie they are more or less guaranteed to be in the knockout stages.
Reckon it could drive them on tbh. They were already hated in some quarters, even more so now. This might galvanize them more.
Thats a significant difference in the cases that I wasn’t aware of ie pleading guilty and attending addiction counselling sessions.
Is Kiely going to pick this piece of sh!t to line up for Limerick after this? Don't know has he said either way but it would be an awful reflection on him as both a person and manager to allow him back on the team where he is inevitably going to pull attention away from everyone else and he will be getting lads goading him 100 times more to get the red cards out. Not to mention the abuse from the stands. The scumbag should just fcuk off under a rock and do the world a favour.
