The 6 teams would be better off splitting into 2 even teams as they have the numbers and have Roinn B as the new Roinn A with 24 teams split into 2 groups.
On another note all clubs fielding 2 teams should have the first team in Roinn A.
That's bad but take a look at Roinn C where you have one particular group with just one Kilkenny first team in it, Lisdowney. I'm not from Lisdowney btw but what was done to them is extremely unfair. They're in a 6 team group with two Carlow teams and 3 Kilkenny second teams. They might as well write off the league as a waste of time.
Ref TJ - wouldn’t TJ make it on to most teams in the country?
100% any club with 2 teams should be in Roinn A. James Stephens in Roinn B for league and Roinn A championship, got enough hammerings off City clubs over the year's in Roinn A, they have one bad year and are let drop down even though they have 3 teams at U14. Ballyhale the same at U16, allowed play Roinn B league (Roinn A last year) because they have 2 lads playing Co minor and not available for league.
He hasn`t scored from play for Kilkenny in his last four appearances. Most forwards would be expecting to be dropped with that kind of stat hanging over them.
How many scores has he set up or how many frees has he won though and scored himself
He s in the twilight of his career I would nt be to bothered about what he scores from play
His vision and ability to nearly always give the ball to the man in the right position and his work rate as well as his immaculate free taking are what he brings to the table now
Imo e Cody and a Mullen could do with learning to bring others into the game like Tj does as there both far to greedy on the ball
Cian Lynch has barely averaged a point per game over his entire inter county career, despite playing on a team regularly clocking up cricket scores, and I think he has scored just one championship goal in 9 seasons, yet his influence is clearly huge, as is his talent.
TJ would walk on to any team in the country, even today. Shefflin would kill to have him for Galway.
He's amazing. Played two matches for the full 70 minutes and no lazing about. Got stuck in no matter the conditions and largely orchestrated the play. His accuracy from placed balls continues to be immaculate. Age is only a number for TJ.
Ridiculous post. He is the goat.
Cian lynch for the last 5 years has had two man markers on him most games. This creates more space for Gillane and hegarty also runs riot. He won hoty twice. He is in his prime and if he can shake off last years lingering injury it’s curtains for the competition
Tj has had two or more marking him for years.
If you can't see how much difference tj made playing against Clare, you've no business commenting at all, he was phenomenal and we'd be shagged this year if he decided to give it up tomorrow
Anyone have an update on Jordan Molloy?
Thought he was out best player V Wexford...
Assume he is injured?
He broke his thumb I think, not sure when he's back.
Any update on Mikey butler or Mikey Carey?
If we lost TJ we would not get out of Leinster
If you compare 2 of our greatest players Tommy and Henry both spent there last season on the bench for Kilkenny not making much of contribution or a meaningful impact at 34
It makes what Tj is doing at 36 even more remarkable the last few years
Pressure on Mark Dowling after last years shambles when we were completely caught for pace as Brookville eluded too, especially Langton on the wing. It will be interesting to see did management learn from last year and how they will prepare for the lack of pace in the team last year.
Limerick team being named at 9 tonight. Runoured to be full strength
I would imagine rhey will name a strong team its up to Kk to match them.
Buckley to start
Interesting. Probably would have started Molloy at 2, Murphy at 7 and Kevin Blanchfield in midfield myself
Is Darren Brennan gone from the panel.
I agree it’s a very small and light midfield
Will Buckley and Molloy switch?
Does anyone have the stat on how many different midfield pairings there have been on Kilkenny teams over the past 2 years? When is the last time the same pairing was named 3 times in a row even?
Where's Tom Phelan these days?
Recovering from an injury. Back running.
According to @tbiggertycome in post https://www.boards.ie/discussion/comment/121900610/#Comment_121900610 he has left the panel.
Everyone knows we are going to be under pressure come tomorrow evening but as Eddie Brennan pointed out its about how much fight we have in us to meet the challenge.
The 2 Mikeys will be big losses and Shane Murphy getting and opportunity in corner back will be a big test for him. Buckley obviously in there for his experience but it goes to show Lyng doesn't see any younger guys filling a wing back or corner back slot for us.
The performance is the key here. We know Limerick will go for 70 plus minutes so it will be a big test for our lads but one we have to meet head on.
Looking forward to it.
Is it a last chance for Billy Ryan to perform?
He must be working hard in training but needs to turn it on when it matters, he's had numerous chances.
