First official look. More to come on October 4.
No issues tbh,it must be to do with your message settings
I reckon you'd get advice on yiu tube ref same
Hope u get sorted,
Maybe a soft reset may help?
Id issues on W app a few times ref my keyboard went to about a half inch size,
Restart sorted it
Happened 4/5 times
Gone now
Other than that alls ok
Ref BOI once you've got the number and phone tied into your account it's there until u change it
I'd hassle when I came back to Google as my phone wasn't recognised
I got onto CC and a guy ran me through it
Tore my hair out trying to sort it myself and waiting for an the specific code I was given years back
Yeah I'm having some issues with keyboard shrinking....
Have to deleted gboard app data and it reverts. Happening about a week now.
Not sure I've tried a full restart yet.
Change your system font up one mark and then back to your usual setting. That'll fix the keyboard until it goes funny again.
Bug with Android Auto apparently.
Ahh thank you
I couldn't see anything anywhere
Didn't have link to hand when I posted yesterday.
I meant I didn't see anything on line about it ( I'd the wrong terminology of course 🙄my little brain couldn't think of the ' shrinkage ' word
Thanks for that. Just a big standard non-brand one that was also feeding the dash cam and was working well, apart from the camera often shutting down when I plug in the phone cable. I'm not sure if this is maybe the cables are a bit strained - they're not really, the dash cam one isn't hard wired into the car, though. I do have a second one in the socket behind the arm rest, so I have tried that instead. It would be too far away to feed the camera and phone at the same time. Brand is USAMS. Phone cable is Smartbits from Super Valu.
Back to the phone itself. Fingerprint reader has been rubbish lately. I've added my thumb again.
I also noticed sometimes the podcast app I use (Pocket Casts) tends to flicker like it's blinking when looking at the album art. Dunno if this the app or Pixel software.
Could be your cables,
Ref pods no issues
I used Spotify and Patroen etc etc
Fingerprint is ok presently,
Shrinkage again today after I unplugged from android auto ( FFS I was in the chemist trying to upload a pic for paddy🙄🙄🙄,had to restart phone+ that sorted it)
No change to monthly plan.
For anyone interested in Display Alt Mode (i.e. USB-C to HDMI to mirror your Netflix on television etc.), this has finally been enabled on the Pixel 8 pro (and I think the 8) - but only if you are part of the Beta program (easy to sign up for) and then you'll get the over-the-air software update immediately.
I've tried it with a USB-C - HDMI dongle and works perfectly. Very handy for hotels to avoid all the messing with wifi/chromecast etc. Sometimes wires are just easier!

Seems to be a good deal on Amazon Spain if anyone's in the market for the pro. Unless I'm missing something.
All colours of the 128 gb 8 Pro available for €795 on Amazon Italy, very tempted at that price.

Good for the hols etc
I mirror LOI tv ATM,but it's not seamless at times
Ive the bay and it's lovely looking
Thanks for this - I've two weeks on my own coming up in a hotel for work so this would be great rather than relying on the laptop or trying to get a Chromecast to work on a hotel WiFi.
Any particular cables people would recommend? I'd normally go for Anker but don't see a usb to HDMI at first glance
Hi, I had tried an old adaptor like the one below (but different brand) which didn't work, but which might just have been faulty

But then tried this and it was perfect…

Further to above, the first one linked above actually does work (and has the benefit of pass through usb-c charging at the same time as connecting the usb-c port of the phone to the hdmi adaptor to the TV.
Similar one here to what I have:

The Pixel 8 is 582 - way cheaper than the 799 direct from Google. Are there any con's to buying from Amazon Italy?
None, but at that price it might be slightly cheaper just to get it in 3 on prepay for €600 when you consider the VAT adjustment and shipping.
Thanks - assume it is unlocked on 3 prepay?
It is. All Pixel phones are unlocked.
Okay thanks for that - I was just looking there and it looks like 3 would make me purchase a SIM for 15 euros so Amazon Italy might be better afterall!
I doubt it,I've bought my previous pixel and current buds from Amazon Germany
No issues
Say Amazon is Amazon irrespective of what part of the EU you're in
If you're buying off Amazon and the seller is a third party seller (i.e. Amazon is NOT the seller), just check that the phone supplied is an EU/UK region model. I bought a P7 last year off Amazon UK and it turned out to be a grey import that was actually for the Asia-Pacific region phone. This meant no 2 year warranty. Returned the phone and got full refund. Reported it to Amazon but they didnt seem interested.
I only discovered this when I went to confirm the warranty status.
Looks like I won't need to buy the SIM. I think I'll pull the trigger with 3 - there's a B&M shop nearby and all so handy if anything goes wrong.
Be careful if buying a charger from Amazon third party sellers too - I got a fake one
Sorry for a little bit OT but I picked that up and gave it a quick try. Nothing on teh TV but I didn't have USB power to it and didn't change any settings on the phone. Just tried the youtube app.
The TV sees something connected but should I set something up on teh phone also? Sorry for silly questions but it would be handy for hotels and travelling, if not I will try chormecast alternative.
Honestly, I can't see how tethering your phone to a TV with a cable can be better than just using a Firestick when travelling. I always take my firestick, and have never had a problem, and I still have the use of my phone!
