Or even better the airport fuel storage tanks and pumping stations.
We're probably lucky that the spell of ISIS spell of terror attacks around Europe were before we found out the true value of the drone.
They're basically untraceable too. You could have a chap on Stephens Green, load up a drone and fly it into Grafton Street on a busy Saturday and nobody will know where it came from or who did it.
Signal jamming will become more sophisticated, making it more and more difficult for drones to move through enemy territory unencumbered.
Undoubtedly technology will improve and I daresay people are working on it, but curious there has been no sign yet of a consistent solution. I wonder why that is, what it is that differentiates drones that makes them so singularly difficult to stop.
Their size protects them as they can only be partly destroyed. Keep targeting them is the only way.
they're using commercial drones in a lot of cases.... so if they come up with a way to jam on one side, it does the same on your own side.
Some are controlled via phone network, then you have to shut the network down
Some are controlled by satellite, if it's L-Band comms and jamming blocks GPS,GPNSS etc...
Plenty of different types of jamming systems out there from man portable to fixed stations with a jamming radius of 1km but they're expensive and require a technically competent operator not an orc with a vodka addled brain.
That's what I thought but hadn't the confidence in knowledge to say: their key strength is the fact they're running off a baseline you can't disrupt without completely fúcking up your own side
a lot of it is primitive jamming ...i.e. over power any signal in the area with a larger signal over a specific bandwidth...
If you have the same drones, the frequencies in use are known.
there are ways and means around this, but, once it's used, it's not long before something is captured and reverse engineered.
the research and papers coming out on (counter) Electronic Warfare in Ukraine are staggering, and very interesting if it's your area of interest.
We won't know a lot of it for decades to come though.
It won't take long for ground mapping and AI to trickle into the drones. Similar to the likes of cruise missiles if they loose GPS connections.
Drones have proven to be very effective for attacking. I'm surprised there's no defensive drones. Long range drone circling around with a radar and short range AA missiles.
I know Ukrainian was testing large quadcopters with AT weapons. So similar with a stinger and radar.
These massive towers used in the "Cracking" process seem to be the weakest link. Knock them out and that refining plant is out of action for many months, if not permanently, as many were built using western technology and know-how, so spare parts may not be readily available.
Transnistria
Something about a drone attack in Transnistria
Translation - The moment a drone hit a helicopter in #Tiraspol, #Transnistria.
Some media outlets claim that the drone was launched by pro-Ukrainian groups based in #Moldavia.
Not to be a salty àsshole, but Transmistria has an army? The helicopter looks barely functional. can't help wonder if this is a false flag for Russian intervention...
At this rate the next great "victory," of Putin's could see Moldova merge back into Romania, if only our of ironic self-preservation
They have about 5000 I think, combination of Russians and locals given Russian passports to be part of the armed forces. Their equipment is outdated and obviously for the last 2 years they have been cut off.
Russia isn't capable of intervening as things stand...
More action in Belgorod
I can't imagine it'd take much of Russia's forces to take it mind you; Moldova doesn't have much to speak defence IIRC and the region appears barely a dot. And a population of 350k, with about half those Romanian and Ukrainian according to Wiki; wonder how that translates WRT pro russian sentiment.
The loss or takeover of transnistria, if it happens, could be timed to cause the most damage to putin.
Used to push change, to push the russian people over the line.
Use it on putins worst day.
I couldn't imagine Ukraine moving into Transnistria. The optics alone would look bad. Ukraine invading a part of other country other then Russia even tho it's is pro Russian. Moldova should do it and take back it from them and least then it would look right.
Interesting that as Transnistria is being discussed here last page or two, NO ONE has mentioned so far an elephant in the room there - The Cobasna ammunition depot
The Cobasna ammunition depot has been referred to as one of the largest if not the largest ammunition depot in Eastern Europe and contains up to 20,000 tons of Soviet-era weapons from the 14th Guards Army of the USSR and also from the former states of Czechoslovakia and East Germany. Currently, it is guarded by around 1,500 Russian soldiers.
57% are obsolete and cannot be used or transported, and access to the area is strictly prohibited
Congrats Putin :D

There no flies on them....87.97% of the vote!!
Now had they said 85% or 90%.... we'd all know it was fixed😂
Bravo Putin :D
BBC - Voting for Putin in the occupied territories of Donesk and Luhansk and Crimea - 94% ..
And from the SERBS ... get the sick bag ready :D
"The victory of President Putin was welcomed with joy among the Serbs, because they see in him a great statesman and a friend who we can always rely on and who cares about our people.
We are also pleased that the Russian people chose a serious, responsible and wise statesman as their leader, because this is a guarantee that traditional values will be maintained." - President of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik.
I wonder will Trump congratulate Putin on his overwhelming 88%+ election win ????
SKY Live link below - PUTIN SPEECH SHORTLY
Well no surprise there really .. the obvious veil slips
Lots of Republican's are on Ukraine's side, shooting himself in the foot to congratulate Poo Tin
Well, he is known sometimes, NOT being able to help himself :D
I wonder how many pieces of putins forthcoming speech will be made in to memes in the near future, in the same spirit of the hitler 'downfall' memes.
"steiners assault will bring it under control". Love that one.
He obviously hasn't spoken to any of the Serb volunteers who went to fight for Putin.....they were treated at least as bad if not worse as any of the " Sub-human non-ethnic Russians" from the Republic's.
