You'd wonder how those people justify it, mentally. True believers maybe, perhaps the pay is good and they're designed to their "betters" always being in charge. Strongmen, fascistic leaders and kings headline the history books but there are always scores of ordinary people behind it all, ensuring the wheels keep turning against their better interest
They may have found the key to undermine Putin and the Russian war effort.
Saw video on BBC last night showing disruption at polling booths with people arrested for adding ink to ballot boxes and fireworks set off in another clip. Just a few pages back here another pro putin poster was claiming that the "west" had failed in destabilizing putin's empire in another example of how his supporters are fully detached from reality. Meanwhile figures for working age men in putin's empire being classed as disabled sees a record increase of over half a million last year:
As of 2 days ago it was estimated that the attacks had affected 12% of production. Significant especially if this continues for another month or more..
Russian propaganda has been rife in film and TV these past twenty years. It depends if that film or TV programme receives funding from Russian backers (Kremlin) or not.
The series "Vikings" was happily telling telling the history of Scandinavian and Danish vikings and their forays into Britain, France, Mediterranean. What happened then only Russian backers came and the producers accepted the money. Now you had "the Rus" come into the series as led by a sadistic tyrant who would stoop to any level who led a regimented army like a Chinese show in Beijing. All subliminal messages to viewers.
Of course this had nothing to do with Vikings being a hit in the Baltic states and Ukraine.
A lot of the script writers and historians weren't thrilled with this shift in the series. But with the higher ups they'd sell their granny for money.
The Kremlin have their Hermann Goerings to cajole Western film makers with cash.
In a reply to that tweet is this:
i had trouble undestanding this tweet, so I ran it through Anthropic Claude 3. I think it helped clarify:
This tweet reports that a Russian Navy submarine contacted Ukrainian authorities to request assistance in evacuating its crew and preventing the submarine from launching an R-30 "Bulava" missile from its silo. The submarine reaching out to Ukraine suggests there may be dissent or disagreement within the Russian military command about launching this missile, which could potentially escalate the conflict. The crew wanting to evacuate and disable the missile launch indicates they may be unwilling to follow orders they consider unethical or dangerous. Overall, it points to potential cracks in the Russian chain of command and hesitancy among some Russian forces to further intensify hostilities against Ukraine, even if it means disobeying orders. However, without additional credible sources to verify this report, the full context and reliability of this information remains unclear.
So what are we in dear old Ireland doing to assist Ukraine's war effort? Does anybody know?
And if not much, what can we do as a state? What should we be doing to assist?
As a "Neutral" nation we are not providing any weaponary really. We are training Ukrainian military in EU countries near Ukraine in mine clearance is all. After that maybe medical goods etc
Other than that .. the 100k Ukrainians here having fled there war torn country. But this is going to be curtailed now with new rulz in place in the last week with regard new Ukrainians arriving from here on. They get 90 days housing and €38 a week. After the 90 days they are pretty much on there own. So in that one area we are steming the tide also.
I think thats the sum total of what Ireland is doing for Ukraine i imagine.
Also related is news today in examiner re DEFENCE of the nation - our navy can now only deploy ONE SHIP ( see other thread on Ireland, most vulnerable country for more on this - https://www.boards.ie/discussion/comment/121900848/#Comment_121900848 )
Plenty.
Hitting the oil infrastructure is probably the best tactical move. Ukraine aren't going to outman Russia but can hit them in the pocket big time. For those who say it's not having an impact, Why has Russian frozen all refined gasoline exports and cut it's oil production by 40000 bpd only recently, that's on top of a previous reduction in production of 500k bpd. If Ukraine can keep these attacks up they won't have much oil to sell to China or India.
More importantly, they mightnt have enough oil for another ill fated advance towards Kiev.
...
A classified German intelligence report circulating in the federal government warns of a significant Russian military buildup that could enable an attack on NATO territory starting in 2026 after doubling conventional weapons capabilities, BI says.
Good article on Macron's recent conversion to hawk
And of course if oil facilities have to close it means many unemployed and unhappy Russians.
They won't be unemployed for long. plenty of work for them in Ukraine
Yes silly me, it's a master recruiting strategy. Tank the economy so the only jobs are in the military. Plenty of work for undertakers right now though.
The original series telling the story of Ragnar Lothbrok was the best, what came afterwards was not a patch on the original.
To even call it an election is risible. Russia is a dictatorship plain and simple.
It's not really that much in terms of real practical help towards the Ukr war effort. We must surely be able to assist more than this after 2+ years and with so much at stake for Europe.
Please elaborate Oh Sultan.... what's 'plenty'?

Let me see if ye are voting for the right person .. and Hurry up, whats taking you all day, there is only one tick box on the form :D
lol
Now that really made me lol, lucky I’d just finished my coffee. It’s like something out of Monty Python.
I shouldn’t laugh, I know. Imagine living like that. *shudder*
Intwesting .. Russia? China? Iran? North Korea? Aliens :D
It reminded me of death of Stalin. Hopefully there will soon be a sequel …..
I’ve yet to see that film. Lots of people mentioning it these days, must be very on the nose and prescient in some way.
Some more dark humour on the same theme:
And a mystery case to solve. What word is scrawled on the ballot paper here? (Clue: if genuine, then brave.)
Lady Gaga?
Oh a nice call! 😄 But no, although the word is very similar. (It does require a bit more than reading the Cyrillic script - I read Cyrillic but didn’t know this until I looked it up.)
Double post
I'll not trust her until she's in power but if she turns out like Meloni I'll take that. I like the direct macron has been going lately and he's still about 3 year's left in power.
