As a "Neutral" nation we are not providing any weaponary really. We are training Ukrainian military in EU countries near Ukraine in mine clearance is all. After that maybe medical goods etc
Other than that .. the 100k Ukrainians here having fled there war torn country. But this is going to be curtailed now with new rulz in place in the last week with regard new Ukrainians arriving from here on. They get 90 days housing and €38 a week. After the 90 days they are pretty much on there own. So in that one area we are steming the tide also.
I think thats the sum total of what Ireland is doing for Ukraine i imagine.
Also related is news today in examiner re DEFENCE of the nation - our navy can now only deploy ONE SHIP ( see other thread on Ireland, most vulnerable country for more on this - https://www.boards.ie/discussion/comment/121900848/#Comment_121900848 )
So what are we in dear old Ireland doing to assist Ukraine's war effort? Does anybody know?
And if not much, what can we do as a state? What should we be doing to assist?
In a reply to that tweet is this:
i had trouble undestanding this tweet, so I ran it through Anthropic Claude 3. I think it helped clarify:
This tweet reports that a Russian Navy submarine contacted Ukrainian authorities to request assistance in evacuating its crew and preventing the submarine from launching an R-30 "Bulava" missile from its silo. The submarine reaching out to Ukraine suggests there may be dissent or disagreement within the Russian military command about launching this missile, which could potentially escalate the conflict. The crew wanting to evacuate and disable the missile launch indicates they may be unwilling to follow orders they consider unethical or dangerous. Overall, it points to potential cracks in the Russian chain of command and hesitancy among some Russian forces to further intensify hostilities against Ukraine, even if it means disobeying orders. However, without additional credible sources to verify this report, the full context and reliability of this information remains unclear.
Russian propaganda has been rife in film and TV these past twenty years. It depends if that film or TV programme receives funding from Russian backers (Kremlin) or not.
The series "Vikings" was happily telling telling the history of Scandinavian and Danish vikings and their forays into Britain, France, Mediterranean. What happened then only Russian backers came and the producers accepted the money. Now you had "the Rus" come into the series as led by a sadistic tyrant who would stoop to any level who led a regimented army like a Chinese show in Beijing. All subliminal messages to viewers.
Of course this had nothing to do with Vikings being a hit in the Baltic states and Ukraine.
A lot of the script writers and historians weren't thrilled with this shift in the series. But with the higher ups they'd sell their granny for money.
The Kremlin have their Hermann Goerings to cajole Western film makers with cash.
As of 2 days ago it was estimated that the attacks had affected 12% of production. Significant especially if this continues for another month or more..
Saw video on BBC last night showing disruption at polling booths with people arrested for adding ink to ballot boxes and fireworks set off in another clip. Just a few pages back here another pro putin poster was claiming that the "west" had failed in destabilizing putin's empire in another example of how his supporters are fully detached from reality. Meanwhile figures for working age men in putin's empire being classed as disabled sees a record increase of over half a million last year:
They may have found the key to undermine Putin and the Russian war effort.
You'd wonder how those people justify it, mentally. True believers maybe, perhaps the pay is good and they're designed to their "betters" always being in charge. Strongmen, fascistic leaders and kings headline the history books but there are always scores of ordinary people behind it all, ensuring the wheels keep turning against their better interest
Meanwhile back in the wonderful world of Russian Submarines.. when attempting to fire a missile
And meanwhile, some things never change...
Ruzkies will be the villain in any movie after this foray into Ukraine. Also, Putzer has managed to create a natural border of hate towards all orcs stretching from the Baltics to the Mediterranean.
Hey! You calling me a cow? 😡😄😄
Lads are still at it lol

To con-spire means to 'breathe together'. Just sayin...
This seems to be different. They did not make an unambiguous public statement about N. Korea. This time the made it clear they will respond.
From what I have read they have been successful in hitting essential equipment, distillation/ cracking towers. These were made many years ago with western assistant. It is complex equipment/ systems that cannot easily be replaced. The situation is made even worse by western sanctions. Once parts of their oil infrastructure starts getting shut down it can be very difficult to restart. Oil is putin lifeblood, it provides money for the war machine and pays for loyalty for those around him. If these attacks continue at this pace there will be an oil shortage very quickly in russia.
Given the size of oil refineries, which are deliberately spread over a vast area out to reduce any fire spreading, unless Ukraine get very lucky and hit vital equipment ie the distillation tower, these attacks are not going to suddenly stop oil production. It will be a drip drip effect, creating challenges and dilemmas, adding to Russian cost. Maybe a small percent reduction in flow but don’t expect the taps to suddenly turn off.
Another two hit last night. Apparently russia has 33 ( 44 in total) refineries that are responsible for the bulk of their industry. A month more of these constant attacks and the country could be in serious trouble.
Or it may be a part of the overall picture of the Russo-French relations nosediving at the rate of knots recently; I’m not any more given to conspiracy theories than your average person but surely there is a piece of puzzle there that we don’t know about. The situation now can be explained by many things, uppermost of which is or should be simply the strong support for a European country under foreign invasion - but in that case it took a bit too long to get everyone there, for that to be entirely credible.
Imagine she would be closer to Meloni in practice. For all her faults, the women has a brain and quite a bit of shrewdness.
She dropped Frexit quick enough after Britain's own economic Seppuku took place post Brexit; she's a horrid bigot but she may also be a total pragmatist when the rubber hits the road;
Russia using democracy is gaslighting us at its finest
Is anyone calling the election fair and legal? Russia can "elect" their president however they want, so I guess you could say it's legal, but no-one in the west thinks there's anything fair about it. Or anything resembling an eletion.
She's Putin's Donald Trump in France. She was getting funding from russia.
These Putin puppets keep popping up like whack a mole.
Does anyone here actually trust Le Pen? She'll change her tune once she's in power.
the eu are giving further funding

I'm sure they said the same about North Korean missiles and done nothing. There's a UNSC resolution banning NK exporting missiles and artillery.
They breaches that without any blowback, hard to imagine the US doing anything other than condemn Iran.
Smart from an Iranian tactical standpoint. Means to test your equipment against a range of contemporary Western air defence systems and older Soviet models. Imagine they already have some data from the Houthis lobbing some of their designed missiles at warships and Southern Israel.
