Following on from main thread in Current Affairs about Tubs in general (now closed and mod suggestion that Entertainment category is more suitable).
Indeed, entertainment in certain respects is what Tubs has provided, albeit perhaps in a way not intended. And still awaiting 150k payback to the licence fee holder.
And of course, his new career in Virgin Radio which is imminent.

Attending a funeral in Dublin?
No sorry Q102 aren't carrying the show as he is live from Cheltenham,
Charlie Bird funeral?
Just checked on Twitter/X. It does emphasise the importance of the Paddy Power sponsorship.
Regards...jmcc
He's gone to the horse racing when "his good friend" is being buried?
Surprising that nobody in the UK has listened to or commented on Tubridy's rather cringeworthy performance at Cheltenham. The JNLRs/RAJARs should make for rather interesting reading when they come out soon. Unlike his report which he filed last minute to the PAC last summer (leaving them no time for preparation or to read its 39 pages of voluminous, vacuous fabrications) the RAJAR's and JNLR figures won't lie. Rather like the NO-NO vote last week, the desertion from Virgin Radio and Q102 could very well be a landslide mass exodus.
His distorted mic levels and blithering live from Cheltenham are truly the depths of a new low for News UK.
The use of different partnerships for the show also sounds quite chaotic and conflicting as the Q102 show is sponsored by Hyundai and the Virgin show is sponsored by Paddy Power.
the RAJAR's and JNLR figures won't lie
But on the "Is the jnlr a load of nonsense ?" thread, you said that they were a load of nonsense:
He can do both via helicopter
Obviously, I know nothing about Tubridy's circumstances, but I do know that I personally have had to miss funerals of friends and family over the years due to work or other commitments and circumstances.
It's always disappointing, but there are other ways to pay your respects, and families do understand.
You seem to have misunderstood my post on another thread but thank you for your interest!
I never said that the JNLR's lied, rather I made reference to their interpretation by advertising agencies in such that the agencies prioritise branding and unique content over figures.
So Ryan was at Cheltenham for his first OB for Virgin Radio, yet he didn't use that opportunity to talk with any of the staff, trainers or any of the folks attending the races. Instead he persisted to list and give his reviews to some new movies that are currently available. In one of his links he babbled something like "I'd rather look at the horses here"
This is really another example of the embarrassment that Tubridy generates for any genuine Irish radio presenter and to radio in general.
He doesn't seem to be a "people" person and may be well out of his comfort zone at Cheltenham. As for babbling about movies, it seems that he has a very limited set of things about which he talks and horse racing is not one of them. He'll have to Google some books about horse racing so that he can play at being the book man again. :)
Creedon
I think of Angela Scanlon, Graham Norton on the UK side and others like Colin Murray at BBC Radio 5 Live. Robin Banks who is technically Irish and well known in The UK as a radio presenter.
Really?
I assumed he was off air to attend the Mansion House.
No helicopter was laid on at the taxpayer's expense.
Sounds like he should have been teamed up with racing expert to help provide the horsey banter.
In Cheltenham to raise a glass to the anniversary of him telling the Late Late Show that he's quitting?
Could be a dangerous enough move to try and interact with any Irish at Cheltenham as he could quickly find out that people have not yet forgotten the €150,000 he owes the Irish public.
I’d say the Irish that have travelled over would have very little tolerance for him and his jabbering.
Life imitating art again
There’s no way he’s going to Cheltenham and not spending 100% of his time there in some form of a protected VIP area away from the plebs…
He’s a senior hurler now and as such, he will enjoy the accoutrements that accompany such prestige.
Who knows, I'm sure the likes of Chris Evans likes to be seen at events like Cheltenham, so Tubs may well be there in the company of more famous people, which he'll love. More name dropping next week.
It's almost as if Tubs is making a point of getting into Partridge like situations just to troll the "hate listeners" 🙄
It's life imitating art, imitating life - and around we go again
His old mate who is a better DJ than Dave Fanning but couldn’t get a look in because it’s not “what you know” when it comes to Irish radio.
I don't get why he's broadcasting from Cheltenham, the first race is at 1.30 and he finished at 1..... Is he there again today?
Its probably part of the paddy power sponsorship deal.
The horsey banter was covered by his colleagues in TalkSport. He was surplus to requirements. He interviewed Ruby W & his wife, a trainer, Paddy P & the trainers team. They were mainly old contacts through Paddy. Tubs OB show was surplus to Virgin requirements, especially as Talksport were ding a great job moving about, starting info, & interviewing ppl. Tubs thanked PP for bringing his show & the team there, so that sounds like a favour, not a requirement from Virgin.
For an outside broadcast he was dead & wooden. If he mentioned once, he mentioned 20 times that there were burger vans & hit dog stalls. He talks very condescendingly, because he asumes everyone else is as uncultured & ignorant as him. You'd think Cheltenham was built yesterday & he was the first to walk the grounds. Then he bangs on ad infinitum about the sweets he's eating & likes to eat. Surely someone has told him that listeners aren't interested in the minutiae of his day to day life. Or maybe his ears are too hard to hear that.
For balance, I listened to Chris E for a bit this week, & I'm at an appointment now with another similar radio station playing in the background. The difference is staggering. Interviews are smooth, with no one trying to be best pals with the interviewee, or outdo them on the subject. The music flows. Tubs is scratchy, not broadly knowledgeable, talked about himself & what he had for breakfast/lunch/dinner incessantly. Virgin have obviously taken the wheels off his 'nerd herd' bus. They'll cut the fat from the excessive film & bookshop references also, if only for the mental health of the producers
Re the references to bookaholic / alcoholic, they are shameful. He must have been too busy sucking Mammy's teat, than paying attention to any of work his father was doing. I wish his Tuttle Productions co director (aka Mammy), would shove the teat back in his mouth again, & save the airwaves from his unintelligent mundane musings of himself. She could also encourage him to return the €150k, in between singing lullabies & throwing sugar at him.
Perhaps Tubridy will want to do an OB from the Boat Race.
Can't wait for a 'secret producer at Virgin' twitter account to pop up, spilling all the beans on the senior hurler...
Jan 2nd: Everyone was like "who the fooook is this guy"
March 12th: Everyone is still like "No Seriously, who in the actual fooook is this guy?"
"Waterway to have a good time."
Didn't Alan Partridge have a canal boat travel special?
