Sitting ducks.
Do we believe anything we see these days?
looks fake ?
That doesn't look recent. The sun is too high to have been filmed any time in the last 4 or 5 months.
There is absolutely no reason why Ukraine, the EU and states like Ireland should not co-operate for the return of people who left Ukr without legitimate permission. None, no reason at all.
Forcibly returning asylum seekers back to a war zone is called 'refoulement' and its abolition was a fundamental principle of the 1951 Geneva Convention of which both Ireland and Ukraine are signatories. You'll find it under Article 33.
Please stop with this nonsense.
not a chance of Furze stopping. He's a broken record for the last few months.
this opinion is purely anti-immigrant and has nothing to do with helping the Ukranian war effort.
+ this clown below already announced on first weeks of war that ruSSia has wiped out all Ukrainian air force 4 times and in quantities 4 times more than Ukraine ever had.
Updates on the US politics side of things.
As I type this the discharge petition(to push the bill past Speaker Johnson) for the 95 billion foreign aid package has 177 signatures. 218 needed. It'll probably take a while more to get the signatures needed and it'll almost certainly lose something like 5-10 democrats on account of the Israel funding part.
So it'll need something like 10-15 republicans to break rank and vote for it. Which is a tough ask. So we'll see. I'm optimistic that the Democrats knew they'd be able to get the numbers before they put it forward. But who knows.
In some surprising news also https://www.newsweek.com/ken-buck-teases-more-republican-resignations-coming-1878601
Ken Buck a more moderate republican has suddenly stepped down from his position in Congress. And hinted that there's potentially a few more(2-3) to follow him. If that happens then Democrat Hakeem Jeffries immediately becomes the speaker. At which point the Ukraine aid vote is a bygone conclusion.
Cross your fingers.
How many resignations required ? I thought the majority will be around 5 when Buck goes.
Still "watch this space" seems to apply
Don't blame Buck for leaving that sh show.
I've seen on the subreddits i check that the number 3 is the magic number. Possibly because other republicans have announced that they're stepping down come november. But yeah if Ken Buck leaving is effective immediately then the number should be 213-218 with 3 vacancies(maybe the vacancies will be Dem?) which is 5 so honestly I'm unsure exactly how that works exactly.
I see another refinary hit in Russia. Maybe they will have to become an oil importing nation soon?
Hm ,might this affect the global price of oil?
Indeed. If Russian has to import it at a high price too win win!
They've cut exports by a million barrels already. After all these attacks they'll probably cut more. Shame Ukraine had to do this. Could have happened ages ago if India and China had any morals.
I'd be far from fanatical I just dip in and out of the thread to keep track of it all. It's great for that and some posters are expert like in their interests and have real life experiences of such combat environments.
Obviously I love to see positive news from a Ukrainian perspective but as regards how this'll all pan out I couldn't commit to a positive, negative or in between viewpoint there seems to be too many variables currently.
You seem a knowledgeable poster and posting your own musings is commendable but ya can't help but disparage some of the other boys who view things through a more positive indeed maybe even too positive lense.
It adds such an air of know-it-all-ism that bristles from your posts. Hence why you deserve to be pulled up on posting scutter like that first post I quoted. It stinks of that condescending "I'm a realist" attitude.
...
I wonder if the fsb had copies of the tapes made.
My concern over this conflict is far more broadened.
I mean, look how the former Russian president is speaking:
This is a complete breakdown in relations.
It's almost as if Medvedev-Putin yearn for an escalation with the West for personal reasons.
And as we have seen from history, this escalation takes time. It doesn't happen overnight.
Medvedev even spoke, in the past year, about how "the world doesn't need Ukraine".
I mean, this isn't an attempt at de-escalation. It's an overt attempt at confrontation with the West.
Is it possible that Putin will get what he wants, and a complete confrontation with the West -- and deliberately orchestrated to allow him to get what he wants?
I don't know, but it seems bizarre what is currently happening.
Ukraine's drones delivery package have up there game recently another tank destroyed not much left.
At the very least we need to get serious about our defense forces and intelligence capabilities.
sacks is a kremlin troll
Both sides drones have. Saw a video of a Russian drone earlier. Seemed it was watching Russian armor but it could highlight all the vehicles and break them down into tanks, APCS etc. Said could be AI in the drone so could make out targets faster and relay information back faster and would know what to attack 1st if there was a lot of vehicles it saw.
Looks like the Russians are going to get a second taste of a
French putdown
Hitler's Russia. VICE on russia.
Fantastic in-depth analysis.
I only wonder how did you come to conclusion that if Medvedev say something it is them trying to break relations or that they are suddenly looking for complete escalation with the west. Mainly since Putin was called every name under the sun for, well, at least the last 10 years. #
I would rather call it tit-for-tat albeit very slow from Russian side.
This war changed tactics rather drastically. Tank even ships are looking more and more obsolete.
Warfare is turning to gamers feast with very final real life consequences. There is no possibility of save and reload, but very real Game over scenario.
Democracy is for Anglo-Saxons and other losers, and it's not needed when you "vote" for Putin.
its clear that the US thought Russia had fallen into a trap so had no interest in negotiating, the US thought they could destabilize Russia, which clearly hasnt happened hence calling it a proxy war. Now Russia has no interest in negotiating until maybe the after the US elections, Im guessing the Russians will demand that Ukraine stays neutral
Sacks was spot on pointing out the BS we were fed and probably lapped up here so it did its its job lol
oh come on, that's Youtube comments level, do better. I come here for the well argued inciteful analysis ;-)
I think Medvedev is in a bit of a difficult situation being a former president,I would say he is terrified putin might see him as potential replacement or that the west or the people of Russia might see him that way, If there was any hint that people started looking at him that way he would end up falling out a window.
Hence the over the top statements about nuking everybody, kind of "look, look, Mr putin, I am on you side, down with the west, boo"
If he was just quite in the background, paranoid putin might think he was plotting and planning.
