I would hope that someone in the DPP is looking at all his cases and sending them back for re-sentencing, though it appears that's not happening according to an article in the Irishtimes that's behind the paywall..
Is there any reason why Nolans repeated soft sentencing hasn't been raised in the Dail.He's a complete disgrace, he's as bad as the criminals he lets off.
This is the same judge that let a man walk free after beating his dog to death with his bare hands in broad daylight and didn’t ban him from ever owning an animal again.
No need for the usual, work references, priest GAA coach to get off on this one. Dealing and delivering drugs and he kills someone. Walks free.
Maybe a legal expert will know, do judges have the power to make someone do restorative justice programmes, community service in drug rehabilitation centres etc? Seems like something like this would be fitting here.

There you have it folks, when dealing drugs just don't deal too many, and you won't go to prison.

Also interesting that the media don't see to see him as an issue.You'd think his continued soft sentencing would get some comment in the media about him in particular.

I know the man in question, he drove at me years ago when i caught him stealing from a petrol station and one of his minor convictions is for that

Martin Nolan is an "Untouchable" free to do what he wants so long as he stays within the fringes of the law..
If we lived in an actual democracy here in Ireland then 50k signatures would be enough to send this clown to a review of his suitability to be a Judge, however this would probably expose a rotten criminal justice system that's not fit for purpose and will also show the lack of prison spaces in Ireland too...

He’ll be out in 4 years, at most. Manipulative bastard like that will know how to play the prison system to get the cushiest number and serve the shortest time. Probably learn Spanish inside and disappear to the continent when he’s out.
I imagine a former Garda would not be welcomed in prison in reality.
Also there is no special reduction in ones sentence for former Gardaí, so he will get the same reduction entitlements as everyone else.
I believe Doyle is in a new relationship and the current partner gave a reference on his behalf. You'd wonder what sort of "persuasion" was used on the new partner to get her to do that. I can hardly believe he has changed that much, considering the treatment he doled out to his wife and children. Six years is not nearly enough - 20 would be more like it.
Nolan gave another Garda(paul moody) a 5 year sentence for domestic abuse, though will be out in 3... unless further charges will be brought against him..
Poor lad. The timing of the judicial system got him in the end, not Nolan - Beware the Ides of March...
