Always wanted to visit Killarney, decided going the May bank holiday weekend, to find out its the rally of the lakes on at that time. Is it worth my time going or is it just one big headache?
Killarney is a great town at almost any time of the year, apart from that weekend. I would avoid at all costs. Just my view though. Others may have a different opinion.
1000%, avoid Killarney that weekend. It will not be enjoyable at all
Like I personally don't mind rally cars or would have been to a few over the years but it's the "fans" that are turning me off it, I've seen videos of places packed out the doors and rubbish everywhere and just hooligans, so I was just making sure it's how it looks.
Avoid at all costs. It was the only weekend of the year I used to go away myself when I lived in Killarney.
The bike fest weekend on the June Bank Holiday. You'll struggle to find a better weekend in Killarney imho. Chalk and cheese to the rally crowd.
It takes place at the Gleneagle Hotel complex. An outdoor stage during the day and top class rock cover bands in the INEC at night.
In contrast to leaving for rally weekend. Now I no longer live in Killarney, my wife and i go down every year for bike fest.
I'll add to all the above and very strongly recommended giving Killarney a wide berth that weekend if you value your sanity.
Okay thanks everyone I'll visit another weekend.
CWMMC I'd recommend not coming a weekend if possible, esp a Bank hol. Imo it's wayyy too busy, it's a small town and the volume people and traffic can be really frustrating sometimes. Maybe that's just me. I think it's nicer to visit places off season, can really take ur time and get to.see everything. There's lots to see and do here, but places get packed up and busy in no time. Come before summer if possible!
If you like car rallies it's fine, but it's the pretend rally driving gobsh1tes who ruin the spectacle by having their own little rallies in and around the town.
Agreed 100%.
Thanks for pointing out that it's the pretend messers who are the problem.
The genuine motor sport enthusiasts are out at the stages all day.
They come back in the evening get some grub and a few pints and bother nobody.
I’d be a fan to an extent of motorsports but I don’t want to be queuing up for diesel to see young lads revving in garages and doing circles around stuff. I want to stand in a field for that in the typical Irish weather.
And when it comes to drinking I want to be able to sit at the bar enjoying my pint listening to a bit of music not being able to pick up my pint.
Thanks everyone for the insider knowledge it sounds like a nightmare and something I wouldn’t enjoy.
Lots of work being put in to events over St Patrick's weekend in the town which is good to see.
Got to agree with the above re the Rally. It's a nightmare, just avoid. However the Bike fest is absolutely brilliant. The shows out at the Gleneagle, stalls, parades etc are just superb.
Where is the pick up/drop off point for the Flightlink bus- is it same stop at the back of Plaza Hotel where the Green bus goes from? Tks
Would you not just contact them?
Yes, it's displayed on the website https://www.flightlink.ie/routes/killarney-to-dublin-airport-direct-coach-service/125-1/
Address for the stop is Mission Road which is the bus stop at the back of the Plaza.
Anyone know how much annual membership costs for B Well fitness Club? I can find monthly prices on the website but not for the full year
https://bwellfitnessclub.com/group-fitness/
I've checked another couple of gym websites in town and not all actually advertise their price, instead "call or email for pricing" etc. Anyone know why? It seems a bit counter productive.
So they can give you the sales pitch over the phone. I rang a gym before to ask about their pool only and ended up hanging up midway through the pitch
This is what B Well gave me this week when I went for an initial consultation and asked about membership
Unless I'm being stupid here I'm assuming the €199 option is just for one month, as would surely be too cheap for a year.
€80 X 12 would surely be far too expensive for a year, so I'm assuming there's a yearly rate, just a bit strange they don't have it written down.
Hello all. Does anybody know if there is a UPS despatch office in Killarney, and if so where?
Thanks
When you use Google or Bing you discover that someone asked the same question on Boards ten years ago and @Ciarrai76
came up with this place. 😛

I went there this morning and they don't handle UPS shipments.
I checked their website as I thought there was a depot in Tralee, but can't seem to find the info. It does have a list of various drop off points in Kerry though.
https://www.ups.com/dropoff/
I also did quick search on Tralee do you know on facebook and apparently they are in with DPD in Farranfore (near train station apparently?).
You'd think that they'd remove mention of UPS from their website if that's the case so that people don't waste their time going there.
I googled also and noticed that - it also listed Sheahan shop on Muckross and the staff there told me that they don't have UPS pick-ups there either. UPS website says it will pick up from residences, but its website is really complicated and when I enter my eircode it keeps rejecting it as invalid. It looks like it's a trip to Faranfore then.
Elderly tourist robbed on Port Road last night.

Not the kind of headlines the town needs in the tourist season.
Very unfortunate, certainly don't want Killarney getting a reputation for this kind of thing. Just because it happens elsewhere doesn't mean it should be normalised, or tolerated in Killarney. Given the profile of person on the street at night, I guess it's not overly surprising. Well done to our politicians, you reap what you sow at times..
What is the profile of person walking down Port Road at 8:40pm in April?
Look out the window.
It's not dark.
And even if it was this is on whoever did it.
I'm partial to walking the streets in the evenings myself so I guess I very much fit the bill!
