Ireland can win the Championship this weekend. England only have pride to play for. Have at it.
"Biased" 😂
You should really look at yourself.
Murray man of the match for England. What a performance.
"We have by far the most talented players right now in the Northern Hemisphere"
What evidence do you have for this?
U20S championships? European club performance? Player depth? Athletic metrics?
Why are they the most talented "by far"?
That's my thinking in a nutshell. Chessum/ Martin and the younger Chessum could be the backbone of that pack for a generation. As much as I dislike Earl, he's quality. They could easily drop Itoje into the back row and lose nothing. Cunningham- South looks a proper player too! Borthwick started at a low point. England will be a tough nut to crack, imo.
1997
Yea, i'm looking at myself and looking at this game, and it seems that when ireland lose people look for the nearest non leinster player to throw under the bus.
Back to back 6N championships, world rankings etc. What evidence is there to suggest the French/English are more talented, what have they won or achieved?
It's not right to put the sole blame on any one player. He's been a great player for us since 2011. Often the pick n gos to run down the clock get penalised too. Sealing off etc. He should have used a few phases alright.
Murray 2016-18, was top form. I'm very uncertain on Craig Casey. He makes a lot of poor decisions. Big gap to JGP.
Ahem
But I'd the argument is whether they are under or over achieving for their potential , then how can the achievements themselves be used as evidence for either?
The 6/2 split was a mistake.
The 6/2 split works when you dont have any backline injurys. We had. Its a gamble and it cost us.
The evidence is there in front of you. 2 6N's in a row, highest ranked side and have been since June 2022, 20 wins from 22. When in doubt look at the fact's, this right here is the facts. What have England/France displayed in that time to refute this information.
True. The balance seemed to go, especially after Frawley and the 2 scrum halves.
And your bias.
we are a better team regardless of how good england may be.
i think they weren't ready for the early punches and never recovered.
it may stand us in good stead going forward, but i think we have said that for the last 12 years.
re home team advantage, its defo a thing but something i dont think should. as in home advantage is purely a mental thing
So you would say that is extremely high achievement then? Almost perfect?
Yea, my bias.
After the new zealand game i was told that it was CRAZY to say a 38 year old dead on his feet sexton should have come off the pitch for a younger ten. There was very little criticism of his performance including missing an extremely makeable kick.
But, a yellow card that back rows will give away at some point, and he is the singular reason we lost the game?
It's interesting, i'll give you that.
I would have thought you'd think alot of a championship win then & a grand slam isn't the be all & end all.
There is a reason a grand slam is difficult to win let alone back-back ones
Im critical of the team performance today as well but a bit if perspective is needed as well imo
Well it isn't perfect as they didn't win 22 from 22. Btw you havent answered the question I asked, I asked what have England/France done in that time to suggest they are more talented? Like I said, the evidence is right there in front of you!
we played 6/7 our of ten and Eng played 7/8 out of ten, seriously get over it ,we have a great team and we came up slighty short today ,we will win championship next weekend ,I wud have taken a Championship win with Fr/Eng away and we are on schedule for that.,so detractors get a grip,we are in a golden times in when Eng r fxxking trilled to rob us,maybe use youtube tru 90s to inform your opinion ,we are pretty good and I am proud of them.
The premise of your argument, that achievements are the only proof of ability, would mean that all teams perform according to their ability. Therefore it is impossible to either under or over achieve, since the only proof of ability is outcome. Therefore currently, the Ireland team must be less talented than the England team.
The excuses for that performance on here are incredible. Italy, Wales & Scotland all performed better than we did against what is a very poor England side that were short on confidence. Jamie Heaslip should issue an apology for his disastrous remarks and was it Stringer who said not a single England player would make the Ireland team? Just like the WC QF the media and pundits got excited and gave their opposition ammo. So dumb.
England have been categorically written off as shite for years. And France have absolutely been labelled at times as mentally weak especially when playing away from home. I think you may need to get over yourself with those beliefs. You're thinking like it's 2004 again.
Nash made a decent tackle but more or less kncoked himself out leaving the backline short a player which England exploited to score a try
After that it was a bit of slugging which was always going to happen and Ireland came out on top/
Home advantage as shown for years in the 6 nations is huge, even when Ireland was a questionable team we could pull off huge wins against for form book against better teams, today it happened to us instead
Ireland used the win v England a few years back to catapult themselves forward, will England be able to do the same? honestly looking at the win today I don't see it.
It will be more interesting to see if France have sorted their sh*t out tomorrow. If they have it could be a long night for England in France
As someone of your vintage, the thought of England playing Ireland and the underdog in Twickenham, delighted with a 1pt win is still hard to get the head around!
There were so many massacres there, 1988, 1990, 1992,1996, 2000, 2002 off the top of my head.
Edit: 1986 Dean Richards No. 8 hatrick of tries. 2012 pushed all over the place, Mike Ross gets injured.
The Mayo of world rugby. When the fats in the fire they just can't get it done. They can win game after game when nothing much is one the line but when history beckons, like getting past a World QF for the first time or doing our first ever GS back to back then they stumble and fall again. The game management at the end was shocking. 90 secs to go and in possession of the ball. Instead of sticking it up the jumper of 4 or 5 forwards that had only 20mins gametime in the legs and seeing out the clock, they kick it back to the English who had been running through them like a dose of the scuts since the 3rd minute. Theres definitely a mental fragility under the surface.
Well what else is there? If England & France are as talented as you say they are you'd think they'd show it on the field. Um no they arent because Ireland are still the champions and will likely will it again next week which means Ireland are the best confirmed.
What are you even on about anymore.
guys we are currently great .world class players ,Sheenan,Beirne maybe ,Aki,Doris and keenan surrounded by excellent colleagues ,enjoy,we are allowed to lose a close game,
