Feels like the right time to start a new thread for next year's gigs.
John Mayer playing the 3Arena on 29 March 2024.

Kacey Musgraves adding a 2nd gig in Olympia as expected on the Monday. The latest trend of another gig being added before general sale for 1st one goes on sale. Least people have a choice of gigs I guess. https://twitter.com/3olympiatheatre/status/1765331492572397741?t=NAdQkGX_DsMdGqNzz9t8Sg&s=19
That’s excellent, never seen him and having him in a 280 capacity venue in Galway has made my day.
Was pleasantly surprised by the price for his Whelans gig too, €38.50 plus fees. Had seen a bigger venue in Manchester was charging £41 plus fees.
No doubt there will be extended guitar parts on just about every song. Will be nice to hear Liam with a proper guitar player
Not a fan of Bonnie Prince Billy but i did like his view on Spotify:
I am offended by Spotify’s existence and people’s passive acceptance of it as a dominant form of musical consumption. They treat musicians like garbage. When people go “it’s just so easy”, I think: “So you don’t want musicians to continue to try to make the best music they can?” Because it’s unsustainable. When I play a song, I want to be reminded of where I heard it or who recommended it, not that my algorithm told me.
No Spotify presale for his gigs so then? ;)
That's good. Hope you enjoy it. Once you are familiar with the songs, I'm sure it will be enjoyable.
But I can't see myself spending €80 jut to be in the presence of 2 musicians. I don't have any awe for them. I go to gigs to enjoy the music, and any banter that goes on between songs. I wouldn't go to the gig just to say that I am in the presence of Gallagher or Squire.
But as you say, each to their own. I would really like to get into that album, I was excited when I threw it on. Was expecting something exciting - like a mix of Oasis and Stone Roses. But I couldn't believe how boring it was. I don't know. Maybe it's just me. I might throw on the odd song here and there until I make myself like some of them.
I've gave the album a listen and TBH, I'm not going to that gig hoping the songs will blow me away. But I am looking forward to the event, if it was anywhere else but the Olympia, I'd be less enthusiastic about it. My ticket cost me over a €100, I wasn't aware of the price, had asked a friend to pick me up a ticket.
on the Monday
Good, If She'd announced the Saturday I'd have caused ructions.
Ironically I’m listening to him on Spotify right now. Though I agree with him I guess he’s just concluded that it’s an unavoidable evil.
Phosphorescent playing Whelans on Thursday 29th August. Another Foggy Notions gig. 10 years since he last played Dublin. Guess they should have said 2 long overdue gigs so.. https://twitter.com/whelanslive/status/1765376795124134207?t=oQKq-vGxWjs7SSjvjGUhOw&s=19
Another one
I'd imagine the venn diagram of Bonnie Prince Billy fans, Phosphorescent fans and Iron & Wine fans has a large intersect in the middle!
Yeah had seen that. At least there's a 2 month cap vs few days between BPB and Phosphorescent.
Foggy Notions are putting in some shift this year. Such a high volume and quality of gigs. God bless them.
I wonder what some of the Autumn/Winter tours will be
A lot of summer tours be favourited
seen Liam solo and with beady eye live at the Olympia . also my Favourite venue . i Like some of the songs and like some of the old Jake Bugg stuff so i am looking forward to the Gig
Ye I'm in the same boat. Missed the LG olympia gig and seen jake bugg there a few times, the gig ticks all my boxes. Can't wait 🍺
A few EOTR acts too
Missed P last time they were in town. Was planning on traveling across from Galway to see this
but Jesus, the price of the hotels on Booking.com is through the roof - far from five star hotels
like the Harcourt are charging over E300
Much as I love P, can't be for them - assume something else on on the same night
Coldplay
They used to have a great small stage at EP in the early years, not sure when it finished but probably circa 2009/10. I remember catching great acts in there - Super Furries, JJ72, Gang of Four, etc. It’s a tad masochistic to be reliving these lineups.
Gary Numan heading to Belfast in May! Tickets on sale this Friday.
Aw man, that would be a great gig to see but can't be arsed heading up north for it. Pity no Dublin date
Teen Mortgage, Workmans Cellar, Thursday 30th May: https://mcd.ie/artists/teen-mortgage
Garage punk, with a hint of poppiness (to my ears) 2-piece. Saw them supporting OFF! in the Grand Social last year. Worth a look.
I feel like this is a common question recently, but is Girl In Red really 3arena big? I am at someone who likes her first album, too...
And unknown to most, some of the best pints you'll eve have in the Workman's Cellar
Properly bizarre how they got on the support bill for Weezer/Smashing Pumpkins
Ha! Are they? I'd no idea.
