Insurance back for next year.
Gone from €400 fully comp to €534 and I've now an extra year's no claims bonus.
Tried chill. They came with 2 quotes. One just under a grand and one over.
Also tried Kennco. They wouldn't give me a quote online. €1200 over the phone.
We've moved house and gone from having a driveway to hoping you can get close to the house every day. Probably has affected it.
123 want a grand off me (actually wanted €1700 because they took away my NCB, but I got it back)...
have a quote from EV Insurance for €750 so will be moving to them..
I'll try them also. It's the yearly dance of ringing around and trying to get close to last year's price. Same every single year.
Are the steering wheel buttons in the M3H not capacative?
try aviva. quoted me 310 today. i live in co waterford and have my own driveway.
I sat in one a while back in Sandyford, and I seem to remember feeling them 'click' when pressed, so you get that feedback that you know you've pressed it.
I didn't try the overhead gear selector buttons, but they look like normal buttons like the hazard and emergency call buttons.
@Padraig Mor is right, the new indicator buttons on the steering wheel are capacitive touch. The gear stalk has also been removed and now gears are selected by swiping at the central touchscreen. You can also reach up to the rooftop behind the rear-view mirror for secondary touch buttons for the gears beside the hazard lights button.
NCAPS safety concern of touch buttons is that they can take the drivers eyes from the road and cause a distraction. Having haptic feedback on touch buttons like the indicator buttons can help (this is probably the 'click' that people imagine, like on an iPhone) but does not compare to regular buttons, and it doesn't take away from the fact that the buttons move position, whether they are on a display or on a steering wheel. Anyone who tries to change the volume of a radio using steering wheel buttons while going around a turn can attest to that. Its awkward and you are forced to look down to see where they are. Trying to change indication while going around a roundabout will be worse.
One nice thing tesla has done is that the car will try to intelligently select which gear that you do want, so that you dont have to use the new buttons as much.
Wasn't the issue with the Zoe partially due to its poor performance in side impacts? NCAP are continuously trying to improve their tests to make them closer to real-world accidents. They discovered in new tests that the drivers head would bounce off poles like sign-posts or street-lamps if the car hit them sideways. It not that "its still a very safe car", its that they thought it was safe until the found out that it wasn't.
Would you go so far as to say that the car was both safe and unsafe until they tested it ?
Anyone that thinks the indicators are a problem should just drive one, you quickly figure out that the left button which is the button you always need to exit the roundabout is on the bottom and also a different shape than the right button on the top so it’s very simple to indicate by feel.. took me a couple of minutes to get used to it and I only drive the car on weekends so using stalks the other 5 days of the week, it is just not an issue 🤷♂️
I did! Lovely car. The reduction in cabin noise is huge improvement. My only complaint was the stalks and Car Play.
Fair enough and everyone of course has their opinion but i just dont think its an issue at all, its just different but I never find myself taking my eyes off the road to look at buttons, a couple of drives to acclimatise and havent thought about it since. Also just wondering what does Carplay give you that isnt in the screen already?
Yea, everyone can have their own opinion alright. CarPlay/Android Auto beats Tesla on Apps. There is a much larger selection of apps in Carplay, and you can continue to use the ones that you prefer from your phone. For example, I find Spotify terrible for Podcasts. But can use Pocket Casts on CarPlay. So im forced to play through the Teslas bluetooth on my phone, which means my eyes get taken off the road for longer.
That CC/AP issue I mentioned recently seems to be fixed with the latest update. Tesla service closed the ticket. I’ll be keeping an eye on it. 🧐
Carplay is a huge miss IMO.
Ranger came by yesterday and realigned the door if anyone else is facing a similar issue. Haven't tested yet but the door most definitely has a more satisfying thump when opening and closing the door.
Has anyone had matrix light functionality turned on for pre Highland.M3 ?
I think that's still just a rumored future update. I'm on 2024.2.8 and don't have them anyway.
Also renewed with Aviva today for €310 so worth a try.
Same. But for clarity I have multiple discounts for also having my house insurance and wife's policy with them.
Likewise, multiple policies with them.
How much was it?
Same here, renewed online today.
€360 fully comp and the same extras.15% off for doing it online and have house insurance with them as well.
Local broker wanted €660 and for me to go off and find a better price and ring them back then🤣
Was there a cost involved. My 2022 M3 has the noise above the driver side and at car wash sum water got in.
I logged it through the app and they wanted me to drop it to Cork and €145 charge.
€34k
Good deal. Enjoy the G-Forces!
The're pretty addictive😁
Never gets old.
Then take it to a nice back road somewhere. I was up in Monaghan during the week and had to drive aughnacloy (IRL) to Aughnacloy (NI). Made me remember why I enjoyed it. Lovely backroads and sharp handling.
Might have to come up with a reason to visit Aughnacloy🤣
I’m sure there’s similar closer by! I just happened to be up there collecting something. Stupid me went to the Irish location and the Nordie I was buying from was at the UK location. Both of us unaware there were the same names towns on either side of the border but 25km in between them!
