So thought I’d throw this up, in a similar style to the electricity and gas switching deals available
one big switch have a deal for eir Broadband €35 a month and €100 credit added to your account for new residential account holders, if you’ve had eir before use spouses name which I’ve done in the past
Did you get your phone included in that? The 35 offer has no phone service while the 40 standard has 1gb and phone.
No it was just the 1GB broadband for €40. I double-checked. I signed up on Saturday morning over the phone.
Im paying vodafone 50 euro a month for vodafone home fibre bundle. is this normal or can i get this cheaper from them. i think all national landline calls are included in that price via landline. i need the landline for my mother
I still think that's a good deal but if it was me and I needed the landline I'd be p1ssed
Call them and ask for them to update your plan. Worst case scenario is they may restart the 12 month contract but it would only add a few more days if you only joined. Can’t see them not giving it to you. If still in the cooling off period you could also threaten to cancel.
Just RE: Sky Broadband price increases, they confirmed on the phone that the increases are only affecting those on older plans.
If you signed up for the €30 plan which is currently on their website, you won't be faced with the price increase until next year.
Contrary to what others have been getting from Sky re price increases, I got this saying they will keep my offer price as is for another 12 months. Still probably move back to Pure.
This will be music to your ears. We’ve extended the offers on your account.
We know value for money is more important than ever and this is our way of saying thanks for being with us.
And there’s more good news.
Your offers have been added automatically and there’s no minimum term to worry about. You don’t need to do a thing.

Yeah they will charge 35 for next 12 months. Save €60 with pure and no interruption to service. My pure (fritzbox) router arrived today and is working perfectly with sky even before the planned switch next Tuesday.
Yes their modem and sky modem have identical settings. Both work with the other provider.
I was with sky before, fritz arrived. I didnt connect it and for 2 weeks i was getting service from pure with sky modem on...
I rejoined Eir last summer. How do I find out my contract lenght without wasting a half a day on the phone please amyone?
Check your email for when they sent you your contract if they sent you one.
Thanks. It's 12 months:)
Don't need the phone at all to be fair. Just wondering had I been swindled out of a fiver! I'll keep it as is. Got my router yesterday. It was a Fritzbox. Will give it a try for a few weeks and see is it worth upgrading my router then. Always wanted to look into it to see did speeds increase and 1GB fibre feels like the time to start!
Would you mind posting the model of Fritzbox. For 500Mb they sent a 7530 previously. Wondering if they've moved up any.
Still the 7530. Received mine yesterday for the 500mb package
Can confirm. Same for 1gb. Only does up to wi-fi 5 also which is a disappointment.
I'd assume you don't need to give Sky any notice if out of contract but do they ask for their router back?
Once out of contract no notice needed. Their site says they will request the equipment back but will let you know if that materialises.
I'd check that, usually 31 days notice to cancel Sky
Thats only if in contract, if moving to another Siro supplier whilst out of contract the switchover is same as moving electricity/gas providers. Line is just taken over by new supplier.
Got the same email yesterday. I had noticed all my projected bills used to be 70 after my 12 months and then randomly changed to 40. I reached out to sky on twitter and the customer service person i dealt with said when they looked into it my offer had been extended and that they never seen this happen before.
and no increase in price in april either which is a positive
you sure?
from skys page:
Cancellation period
A minimum of 31 days’ notice (cancellation period) is required to cancel your Sky Broadband services.
Positive. I confirmed with them last week before moving to pure telecom.
Would they owe you money seeing as the bill you in advance?
Probably get a credit on final bill
Beware when moving from Eir: https://www.boards.ie/discussion/2058247649/are-eir-breaching-their-own-terms-and-conditions-here
Hopefully you are not in a hurry for the money. Eir issued a credit note to me at the end of my contract last March. It was October or so before the refund cheque landed after a number of phone calls. It also included a conversation with what I can only describe as a male version of Mary Lou ranting down the phone at me disputing the credit. This was a week or so before the relented after I threatened them with comreg and complained the Mary Lou wannabe.
Sky in the past would encourage new customers to waive cooling off periods of they wanted quicker installation. I doubt any of the contract conditions are in the customer's favour.
It’s sky that I left. This is the standard with all companies like this. Your final bill will be a credit of whatever the part month left was. I have had to call eir(meteor) in the past however to instruct them to put the credit into my account instead of continuously sending me credit notes each month for 6 months.
Update: Pure Telecom sent me a FRITZ!Box 7530. Going live on the network tomorrow.
I got a call today saying something similar and that a technician would be on next week to 'install' the box. Can I just plug it in myself now as I think the wiring is all there or have they more to do on install day?
