Bought a Krone 240 AMR mower today! Was the most expensive of the ones I had looked at but no one has a bad word to say against them.
You won't regret that purchase the best of luck with it
Had a close one here Thursday. Hooked up the hedge cutter to finish a bit here. Thought everything was in right. The father went off hedge cutting, when he folded out the hedge cutter didn't it pop out of the righthand lift arm, it was never latched in properly. Got the digger, lifted the head of the hedge cutter and managed to get it locked back into the lift arm. Very lucky that it was only minor damage and nobody was hurt. Just need a new cast iron headstock for the top link.
Another lesson learned
I re engaged the latch but never copped it didn't fully lock in. Should've double checked because it happened before with another machine, but lack of sleep and thinking of the next job caused me to loose focus.
Anyone have a bale trailer from the lads that make them in Dungarvan. They look good value compared to other brands these days.
Beresfords? I often borrow one here from a friend. 30ft on super singles. It's a good job. Can't find fault with it to be fair.
Blue colour. On the second roundabout from Cork side. New stuff parked outside for viewing, it seems.
Ya that’s them. I didn’t like naming them. They seem to have great value on bale trailers
Pulled different style Beresford bale trailers here. They're a good solid trailer and steady on the road. I wouldn't advise getting one with leaf springs as they're very wavey and high off the ground. A lot of them around me being used by farmers and contractors.
I didn’t know they came on springs so thanks for the tip. Do you know if they come with a sprung drawbar and strap box of some sort.
Friends one here has a sprung drawbar, on a leaf spring. I never saw it on any other brand. It has 2 strap boxes. Easier pull 20 on his than 14 on my own single axle trailer.
This is the trailer I've pulled the most. This has a bus axle and tyres so it lower to the ground, there's a slight camber into the middle on both side so bales lean slightly in the way. Strap box and sprung draw bar on this but the axles are welded on
Tidy load up there. Be close enough to the weight limit with that though would you?
You’ve a fine load on her. The bus axle looks the job alright. I must call up to them some day to check them out. Just one more question, your front and back racks look stronger than other pictures I’ve seen. Do they make hay/straw vs silage racks
Am interested in a double axle myself. You wouldn't want to meet much of a hill with that load. I think I was drawing 16 with my 140 HP tractor last summer and I was only barely making it up hills. Four wheel drive on going up the hills and the engine getting hot.
What hp is that class, that's a fair pull, you wouldn't want to pull in too far off the road with that load
Wouldn't like to be trying to stop that load in an emergency. Air brakes or otherwise.
You may want to have a look at your radiator. I regularly take 14/15 tonnes at harvest time in a heavy old trailer with less power up front and the needle hardly moves.
Radiator in one of the tractors here was well choked up a while back so I took it off and soaked it over night. Very easy to hose it down the following morning.
Has anyone bought a compact tractor from the likes of Euro auctions? There between 12-20hp typically from the 80-90s and make appear to go for about 2k plus auction fees etc.
150 hp, hauled it 75kms home from Enniscorthy to a man near me. Hauled a lot of hay, straw & haylage from down there.
@Donald Trump good breaks on the trailer but stopping can be a bit fun, there's a round about on the New Ross by-pass that takes a bit of planning ahead.
Your a brave and lucky man! 😂
Hard to find a decent priced loader tractor with good spec, decent hours for around 50k in the 2008/2012 age range.
I gave it up, my heart wasn't able for it 🤣 got waved through a garda check point out side the Gain mill on Clonroache with that load. Never again after that
A haulier was telling me that the overweight fine is €1000/tonne over. I don’t know was he being serious or pulling my leg.
Did any 1 buy anything on the clonmel auction by doyles
Tractors are expensive. I gave €50k no vat for a 06 Deere 6820 with 8000hrs and 4 new tyres last August. Need a fresher loader but a decent Schaffer is around €80k.
I was watching a few bits but when you add in commission and VAT on the commission you'd buy them cheaper elsewhere.
Fact, I was going to bid until I realised it was plus vat
If ever you want to spend crazy money on machinery an auction is the place to be buying. Lads seem to lose the run of themselves and pay way more than what they’d have to spend for the exact same item from their local dealer. Often second hand machinery at auctions make more than the same item brand new from a dealer.
Would expect the 68 to be a high spec at that money
