Feels like the right time to start a new thread for next year's gigs.
John Mayer playing the 3Arena on 29 March 2024.
Kim Shattuck also, sacked for going into the crowd during one gig. ‘Not the Pixies way’ according to Charles Thompson IV.
If you’re a female bassist ya gotta fancy your chances at getting a run.
Gigantic.
That's a big big loss.
Yeah, I was a bit disappointed when I read that. Paz Lenchantin carved out her own space in the band, I thought, and wasn't just a cookie cutter Kim Deal replacement. I guess we won't be getting to hear Gigantic among the encores this weekend as it's unlikely they'll put that new bass player under the spotlight to that extent during the first few nights with the band.
Ah man. Loved Kim, loved Paz, I have to learn to love again??
Edit: this from Paz: 'My departure is a bit of a surprise to me as it is to many, but it looks like they have a solid plan figured out which in turn has pushed me to move onwards onto new projects that I am excited about.”
That doesn't sound like a smooth exit, does it?
Paz Lenchantin has left Pixies. Emma Richardson (ex-Band of Skulls) will make her live debut with them in the Olympia on Friday.
Cherry glazerr in whelans
I know.. Its just too much isn't it?
Tickets are reasonable too 32 incl fees.
Have been considering getting tickets for this. A Clash tribute act as support.
Don't know if already posted but for any ska heads out there..
Am already very oversubscribed that week ( Trinity Sessions x3!) but vould not miss this. Ranking JR playing with, instead of Ranking Roger RIP.
Of course they do, thats why they removed the phoneline so people couldn't ask for refunds.
Making life easier for people ain’t the ticketmaster way. They probably save money from people not claiming refunds etc
Its shocking really, it was removed to stop people looking for refunds during covid when events were postponed.
Surely they could employ one person on a phone.
Would never of gussed The Scratch would be on the same bill as Sum 41
Don’t think that helpline number will ever come back. Even with people ringing liveline about GAA ticket issues has had little to no effect on how they operate
Yes its a monopoly, it should never have been allowed to merge, thank Obama for that, the imbecile.
They don't care about the fans, they view them as cash cows, from which they openly brag they want to extract as much money as possible.
They sacked most of their staff in the UK during Covid, and were completely understaffed when events restarted after Covid.
They rushed out an unproven and bug ridden mobile product primarily because it meant less staff needed for delivery.
No phone number still, there should be a huge expose of their malpractices but alas they have paid the media and politicians off with freebies.
Ccpc did issue report on dominant position abuses by ticketmaster here a few years ago https://www.ccpc.ie/business/ccpc-publishes-report-on-ticketing-investigation/
some funny responses by ticketmaster
Ticketmaster Ireland did not agree with the CCPC’s preliminary assessment of dominance. In particular, Ticketmaster Ireland argued that, due to the small size of the Irish market, market shares are not a good proxy for market power. Further, Ticketmaster Ireland proposed that it is not an unavoidable trading partner, and that its customers could readily switch to an alternative ticketing provider.
For a company it's size, whether Ireland has a franchise or not, I've found Ticketmaster in other countries to be much easier to purchase from, down to choice of seating even with a popular artist presale.
Their app is a disgrace, glitchy, temperamental and unreliable. Clearly they don't care much for employing IT people here. And they get away with it.
In essence, Ticketmaster, and Live Nation with it, is a monopoly imo, it goes against competition standards surely.
Surprised at that, as even the ones with publicised restrictions allowed the transfer option. Sometimes they do turn it off on the day of the show.
Just seen that Ticketmaster never bothered to turn on the transfer option for James Arthur at the 3Arena last night even though there was never any mention that this was an event where Ticketmaster Transfer wasn't an option before the serial Ticketmaster defender comes on here sticking up for them!
An absolute disgrace Ticketmaster can do this and if they do this for one of the huge concerts next summer there will be uproar I'd say and I really hope something will be done about this going forward!
Saw that and Nirvana, Smiths, Oasis and Foo Fighters tribute acts in April
Not Ireland but great to see Brixton Academy reopening, The Black Keys playing there for 2 nights in May.
James Vincent McMorrow is playing All Together Now on Friday 2nd August. Only 49 other acts to go so..
Chappell Roan
There's always room to move about towards the back at the barrier. If you're short or have a bad back or anything the GC can be worth it as you can usually watch in a bit more comfort as you'll have the barrier to lean against.
usually room to move untill the main act is on
Killer Mike (of Run the Jewels) playing national stadium in august
Wouldn't let that stop you going. Like someone said, I think they'll definitely finish with champagne supernova. The albums 39 mins so they'll definitely need 3 or 4 covers.....seeing them in this small of a venue is not to be missed.
Just on the album, definitely needs a few listens. Wasnt expecting anything extraordinary but it's certainly not a terrible album.
Roll on March 16th 🍺
I've never been in a good circle/pit that didn't have space to move at the back.
Would Gold Circle be packed or is there room to roam?
