Meath area quotes
R grade cows 4.90
Bullocks 5.15 base maybe 5.20
Under 24 months bulls 5.35 maybe 5.40 all in.
Bull base same as bullocks with the bord bia 20 cent.
4.95 this year would be standing still, allowing for inflation, with 4.70 last year.
There is going to be big changes
Lots of variables....600 to 800.
A Freudian slip there , I meant fresian
What are 270-300kg Freudian bullocks making? 12 months old I’d say
Your normally against factory cattle being sold in matt.
Is their better factory presense in the ring currently?
Thanks
If it was build up fast they should be OK if silage was anyway decent. I finished some before Christmas 5kgs straight maize. For the same time period FS of 3=. If you allowing at a flat price 5.05/5.1 will probably be a goid result.
You could try the marts however while factory agents will compete for trad breeds and Continentals, they tend notbto overpay too much for FR's
I sell most of my dry cows at the mart. But I'm left with two old timers, 14yrs old , dry since Christmas, a bit of cover, not fat by any means. They are stiff. I want rid ASAP, as I'm worried they will hurt themselves going to dairy. Say 600kg LW, is the factory a better bet.
I
There on about 5kg 40%maize since Christmas. Built up to 5kg
Ya you are right about that. Base of 4.50-4.70 last year and the year before. Young lad near us bought some last year they only made 1-200,more when hanging.
And he’ll be lucky to get €5 in October.
Its easy to see the sense in it if you are on a contract. There is going to be a serious shortage of finished stock from mid may to nearly mid July. Delayed turnout and farmers not winter finishing. Buying these to have on the cards from 30- 70 days is an insurance policy for the cartel. Also the 7 month man has very little buying done with this weather so less fingers in the pie
I was in Carnaross today for about half an hour seen a lad that would normally factory his cattle selling a few, in around 700kgs, O+ R- cattle made from between €2150 to €2,400 he told me they would blow €100 -€250 if he had killed them. Some were 33 months but it made no difference to the price. A agent for Dawn and lad that buys for ABP finished them all. There was a few feeders given good money for heavy stores, it's hard to see the sense in it, €1,750 for 500 kg cattle that in October you would hoping to get €2,000 for in the factory @ €5/KG.
There is always a bit more to go on Friesians. Kill most of mine at 3-/=.
What are you feeding them. How much of it are they on and how long are they on it.
I be looking at the flat price but I think they are good enough. Mostly O grades if going to an ABP plant I say.
If they had been mine they have been on straight maize for the last 6-8 weeks
Not a finisher, but the lad in third photo looking good
Bit more to go on them. How much ration are they on
What do you think of finish ? Are they ok
That’s them
I’ll put up a few pictures
If you are near a strong mart look at that option first saw some of gortatlea yesterday and heavy cattle making well beyond any factory price eg fr steers 2.60 to 2.70 Angus 3 euro continental steers even non qa 3.10 to 3.30 it doesn't matter what buttons you press in the calculator you won't get anything like that in a factory
Most marts should be on 2.90 to 3.05 for fleshed Angus right now which is equivalent to approx 5.75 to 5.95 factory payment price depending on kill out % I'd like to find the man getting a flat price right now of that, the factories are well stuck at the moment
I am not sure of the base at present. If they have a good level of finish depending on quality of them they will on average grade O- or between O-/O=.
If they are really square they could probably average O=.
Base seems to be 5.10 last week, probably a tad stronger next week.
5 to 5.05 would be the minimum if a good level of finish. If very square 5.10-5.15 I would imagine.
If narrow cattle( P=/+) grades 4.95 could be a great price especially if slightly under fleshed
What’s a good price for fresian bullocks 36 months . Maybe over with a few. I’m being given flat price . Just want to know before I call or in this case ring him back
5.15 base for steers offered this am, midlands
5.20 base for heifers in midland factory and 5.45 for angus and whiteheads...this week.
Any prices for the coming week. I have not been in contact in any agent lately but will soon cause I have a few nearing ready.
3 chx and 1 limx....the 3 chx got on well big frames the lmx not as good ....finish about 50 or 60 ......was offered 5.10 last week but got 5.15 this week killed a few a few weeks ago got 5.20
What breeds?? Do you finish many. I got that 3 weeks ago. But only offered 5.10 this week. Small finisher here around 50 head a year or so.
1 tag for the factory. 2 for mart.
Need 2 for across the border just.
