It was in the local motor factors. Just a generic dark grey.
Congratulations, I am sure will be very happy.
All Model 3 are easy to kerb, I damaged mine when only a few months old, but only lightly, so was easy enough to top up with a few coats with some light sanding in between. Barely noticeable after. I cannot find the post I put up with photos. Bought the touch up pen on recommendation from @jusmeig. Perfect colour match, but I am sure any dark grey would look equally good.
Does that model not have a 360 camera on it lads. Can't be kerbing wheels with that available
Still very much in beta testing. And not yet on older models, but coming apparently. Similar with operational matrix lights. But hey, something to look forward to😋.
Shape of flared arches makes judging wheels a little difficult at first. And no tyre rim protection. Haven’t hit mine since I got car 2 years ago…
The reason the 21 M3P is so easy to kerb is down to the new performance wheel design and the tyres. They are the same size tyres as the older version but on the Uber turbines they look stretched.
First thing I’d do if I bought a MIC P, would be to up the width of the tyres to the 245/255 instead of the 235.
Might help.
It still happens. 360 camera doesn’t stop it for people not paying attention.
I never use the cameras for parking, old fashioned parking skills and using the mirror with the auto dip setting.
None of this fancy technology gona save you.
I'm pure old school. But old school won't let you see a kerb up against you're new wheels. Anyone not using the expensive technology that keeps your alloys fresh as they went on needs their head checked. Much quicker to glance at that and get all of the information immediately.
A quick follow on to my previous message about range. I had calculated that I could have covered 380km on a full battery, so last Thursday/Friday I topped up to 100% at Birdhill, and a quick session on Google maps worked out that Birdhill to Tralee to Charleville to Mallow and then back to Birdhill would be 340km... so I should be fine. Leaving Mallow on Friday the car told me I would arrive at Birdhill with 1% (and only if I did not drive above 90kmh). I bottled it.... no way was I going to risk that - a diversion, or a missed turn, could have been disastrous!!!
The main learning from the trip was that the charging infrastructure in that part of the world is - and I'll use a quote from the chap who was using the charger I turned up at - "absolute shite". Tesco in Mallow has a charging point, but I couldn't find it (and the same guy said it was just as well that I didn't find it as its only 7kw). Ended up at Lidl in Charleville, and had a short wait as only one of the cables was working.
This was the first time I've felt annoyance about charging. Still love the car, tho 😀
Thanks for that. Will be good to see how it sorts out the couple of minor scratches.
Will also give the 245 tyres a go when replacing as I'm not inclined to cast off 4 nearly new p zeros
I tried the self parking mode yesterday and it worked great reversing perfectly into a space, only problem was it parked in a disabled space😄 The old AI needs a bit of tweaking.
It's all about recalibration of old habits. In the past with 50/55 sidewalls I would pull into a space and use the side walls to find the kerb so as to park as close as possible, or if space was tight just mount the kerb and drop off again so as to hug the kerb. It will be exclusively reverse in parking mode from now on though and no more kerb hugging
Worth using the energy meter when doing the longer trips. It updates in real time and can be very handy if your looking a bit tight.
Yes of course. Look into them when changing. How do you find the Pirelli?
I had them on My MSP and hated them, they were on the M3P too and couldn’t wait to get rid of them due to scrubbing on the front at full lock.
Seemly common issue with them I read on the Porsche Forums.
Michelins are my choice now.
Best of luck with the car btw.
For clarity, that matches the 18" wheels? I had some in my basket from AMZ as they don't deliver but colour is Anthracite
This is the 18" match. Used it myself and it's as close as you can possibly get.
I got mine on Amazon, but not available there at the moment
I havent done a whole lot of mileage yet so will reserve judgment for a little while yet. The one thing I have noticed is the front tyres seem to scrabble on loose tarmacadam when reversing around house. Never noticed that in any other car
Yes same for me.
Has only happened to me on 2 cars in my life, and both were teslas with Pirelli PZero tyres.
I swapped to continental/Michelin on renewal time and the scrabble was gone.
Generally only happens on loose or wet ground when transitioning from one surface to another in my experience.
When o first felt it a few years back on my MSP, I searched and found Porsche owners saying the same thing when using Pirelli tyres.
New NCAP rules from 2026 will require stalks for for indicators and wipers for a five star rating - I guess the steering wheel indicators on the M3 will be gone at the next model iteration.
Great news, a level of sanity prevails. Looking forward to the next Model 3 so ;-)
will it though because they say stalks or physical buttons, which the M3H has...
Folks, does anyone have an opinion on whether or not Tesla might have any deals on the M3H at the end of the month (Q1)?
I'm on the verge of ordering one and doubt that any end of quarter deals (such as finance etc) will be available on a brand new model?
TIA!
doubt it.. its a fairly in demand car so probably no need to incentivise them..
remember if you are ordering to use a referral code..
Nah. I just noticed though that the APP now incentivizes referrals for them again, so if you use a referral code, you get enhanced autopilot. There is a referral code page on the forum. Pick one from there.
I toyed with the same thought having been tracking M3s for years now and seeing the end of quarter offers... APR variable and price variable. In the case of the new Model 3, not a hope is the answer... so I took the plunge! If you go to the standard order page, a white RWD with standard wheels is April-May and any other colour is May-June 2024. It is universally acclaimed as a huge improvement over what already was a mightily impressive car - and at the current price point it is a steal. I'd guess the soonest you'll see end of quarter offers on the M3 is Sep 2024, very outside chance Jun 24 but I think demand is too strong for the latter. FYI AIB offering a green loan APR of 6.4%, not great but better than the Tesla partner 6.9% offer...
I enjoyed reading the highly dismissive "nanny state" comments from fans on reddit and other forums.
Yeah. Bloody safety rules. It's thanks to all that nanny state nonsense that we have to wear seat belts and motorbike helmets and all that drivel /s
Jay Leno going over the new Model 3 with Franz and Lars. https://youtu.be/WLMalLy_3JU?si=Tv6rBjGEqnrc-0o7
The Stalks will have to come back. The EU is putting pressure on companies to bring them back to improve safety.
https://arstechnica.com/cars/2024/03/carmakers-must-bring-back-buttons-to-get-good-safety-scores-in-europe/
am i missing something? it says physical buttons which they are on the steering wheel.
the Model 3 Highland already has physical buttons for indicators lights & wipers, and also has physical buttons for gear selection, so I believe this to be a non story.
And regardless of what new rules EURO NCAP bring in, if its a 5 star car today and becomes a 3 star car tomorrow, It's still the same car and it's still a very safe car.
Sure didn't the Renault Zoe go through similar, went from a 5 star car to 0 star because NCAP tweaked their rules...
