Another thing about the shinners that’s really bugging me: I read during the week that MLMcD was giving a speech in America. The fact she’s giving the lecture is not my issue, but is she there until after March 17? I’m very quick to pour scorn on Eamo for his jetting all over, but if Mary Lou is there for half of March, surely that’s taking the p1ss?
SF are getting hit hard by their refusal to take a stance on immigration.
FF in particular have a huge amount to gain from taking a hard line stance on immigration now. They have very little young person, and not much urban middle class, support these days. So very few votes to lose. Their core voter base is older, rural and conservative - ie the most in favour of stricter immigration controls anyway.
FF can take a big chunk out of SF's rural vote back by outflanking them on just this one issue.
That big fence splinter stuck in Sinn Féin’s arse is going septic. Watch now as FG/FF change tack on immigration issues. I expect them to get a little more heavy handed on IPA and processing their claims.
Latest opinion poll
They've long been open about that in fairness. AFAIK theyt've never expressed regret about going in with FF in 2007 even though it led to their decimation at the subsequent election. It's just something their voters have to take on board...
Talk about desperation!!
The media are covering it, the government have a PAC committee at the moment
Not sure what else you want?
I think the issue is all the media attention about RTE and Catherine Martin would be better aimed at Tusla. It's far more important.
Not sure what the point here is, are you saying Catherine Martin been in the news shouldn't happen instead of this story?
I think the issue is Catherine Martin getting headlines over RTE, while this isn't and it's far more important.
It's all over social media and main stream, how is it been burshed under the carpet?
This has come up because of the Public Accounts Committee
If it was been brushed under carpet they are doing a bad job of it
Very serious matter that they can’t just brush under the carpet??
It's all over the news. Was in Irish Times and Business Post last year was well.
Even going back as far as 2017 it was reported about Tusla using private companies, this seems to have balloned now instead of reducung

Peadar Toibin apparently showed evidence of Roderics department ignoring whistle blowers and destroying evidence in the Dail yesterday.
Has anyone a link to this story?
Why isn’t there more about this?
Surely Roderic should resign?
This is a very serious issue.
Ah yes, the government seem to want to normalise these golden handshakes. Here is the latest.
More high-cost HSE redundancies may follow €389,000 package for former executive, says Donnelly – The Irish Times
More high-cost HSE redundancies may follow €389,000 package for former executive, says Donnelly
The Irish Times reported on Thursday that HSE chief strategy officer and former deputy director general Dean Sullivan was to receive €388,983.
Mr Sullivan had been employed by the HSE since July 2017 as deputy director general – chief strategy and planning officer, initially for a five-year period. In July 2022 he became HSE chief strategy officer.
The Department of Public Expenditure and Reform said the amount involved included both “a legal settlement payment to address legal and financial risks; and a redundancy/severance”. It said the request for approval of the proposed settlement included “business case material” and “confirmation from the relevant accounting officer the proposed settlement represented value for money for the State”.

A reminder on what Fine Gael said in their New Politics document in 2011
Fine Gael will overhaul Ireland’s corporate governance regime. We will also ensure that senior executives of State bodies do not receive so-called “golden handshake” when they leave a job because of failures in their performance.
All lies. Golden handshakes are the norm in 2023/24.
and we are off waffling about the report button
F**k me can you come up with something new for once 🤔
The playbook is getting a bit old now
You have nothing of interest to post or comment on, why do you think people are reporting you? f**k me copying and pasting from RTE is hardly a reportable offence.
I will. Thanks 😉
Don't wear out the report button!
Has that anything to do with banana republic? no
Swing and a miss
You are better off just reverting back to copy and pasting off news websites like RTE. Is that not your job around here?
So no comment whatsoever on the actual story? The HSE exec and his golden handshake? Very telling. Loyal head in the sand policy yet again. You don't even swing anymore 😂
and?
Still not a banana republic.
Swing and a miss again.
I think you missed the fact the two are totally based on FDI.
If you want to look for something that is actually ours you would be looking at the industry that the government at the behest of the greens, environmentalists and EU are trying to destroy.
A bit like our defense we are relying on others in Europe to do the fighting for us.
Thankfully French, German, Dutch, Belgium, Polish farming organisations (and indeed most of their farmers) are not going to go meekly into the night.
14 days later you respond to a post
Did you read the explanation I posted for banana republic? it says a single export and you posted two.
Swing and a miss again
Whereas our economy is dominated by IT and Pharma, and we dare not vote for anyone but FFG for fear we scare away the fdi
Gotcha we're totally not a banana republic
I wonder who was the mediator? He/She must have been politically appointed.
FF getting desperate?
I’m in this constituency & really dread having to vote for these has beens or Flanagan😬
I think Tusla spending millions on unregulated housing were the owners pretended to vet staff, is the biggest scandal of the current lot. Thankfully the Garda are involved.
Ah now be fair they have dreamed up new ways of screwing us over and feathering the nests of insiders and connected ones.
I didn't know one of the Coveneys was a high ranker in RTE, never mind getting golden parachutes of thousands of TV licenses.
Didn't the O'Keeffe lady also get thousands of TV licenses.
They left that little nugget out of the ads where they told us our licenses were spent.
What is TV Licence money used for?
Approximately 85% of the revenue generated from the TV licence fee goes to RTÉ to carry out its public service broadcasting commitments.
Furthermore, 7% is paid to the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) for the Broadcasting Fund which is used to support the production of programmes on Irish culture, heritage and experience and programmes to improve adult literacy.
An Post, the designated body that issues TV licences and collects fees on behalf of the Government, also receives some commission from the TV licence fee.
Well I never heard that HSE were doing a redundancy program so he was obviously fired for poor performance (it must have been very poor!). Obviously for transparency they slapped a confidentiality clause on it...the mind boggles. Pathetic to see Paschal (FG) defending it earlier.
For incompetence, he got a massive golden handshake. Banana Republic.
New Politics was all lies.
