That blue sign is shown as Ukrainian on the Wiki page you linked. Under information signs.
Also that woman watching TV photo is fake, the TV was added in, replacing a fridge.
At the risk of stating the obvious, it's photoshopped.
Looks like long Qs for Navalny's funeral
The original photo can be seen in the comments on your linked Tweet.
I hate to think of the implications for people paying their respects- they’re bloody brave
Takes bravery to go to a funeral in a country where it could easily get you arrested. That's what Russia has come to.
Some people will believe anything as long it's on twitter and conforms to their prejudices, we've seen it in the thread time and again, the gullibility and wishful thinking is astounding (then doubling down when called out)
But have you seen how you can bring trolleys on escalators? That's what democracy is about. /s
Interesting that you felt addressed by that comment.
I'll let that speak for itself.
That plenty of Russians live in abject poverty is not news. However, plenty also live very comfortable middle class lives. That's one factor that has kept Putin in power this long, unfortunately.
And after getting arrested, a massive potential of being put on a bus to the frontlines in Ukraine.
CNN reporting there LIVE TV signal from the funeral has apparently been blocked
I expect if only for that reason many more women than men will attend, maybe some pensioners
CNN do have some shots though. Thats some crowd now:
They just showed a liveish vid and crowd shouting NA-VAL-NY
wow Russians have found there voice - SKY - shouting NA-VAL-NY
NO Coverage of this on russia state TV or in the Newspapers
Over 1 Kilometer long Q
The way it works, is for a Russian, the closer to Putin you are, the better your life will be, and that's in places like Moscow and St. Petersburg. The Republics and rural areas are a completely different kettle of fish.
What has kept Putin in power is no opposition allowed, and stuffed ballot boxes. Putin's Russian elections and referendums are about as genuine as the existence of Santa Clause. (Except Santa Clause is more believable)
The fact reasonable numbers of people in big cities have okay standard of living is part of the reason for Putin's genuine popularity in first 10-15 years of his time on the scene, which helped consolidate the system. I spent time there, I spoke to people. The fear and repression has really only been ramped up in recent years. Of course there was never any real alternative, but now he doesn't even have to pretend to be interested in the average citizen's well-being, and punishment is openly used against anyone opposed, which was much less so a decade ago. It's been a gradual slide from soft authoritarianism to full on dictatorship
mon the tipping point.
Once it starts hes fked.
Pensioners have a strong potential in bringing it all down. Since 1. Not a good look to be involved in dragging the elderly around.
2. Theyre each quite likely to have extended family. Children and grandchildren. Who would natuarlly be enraged.
3. Theyve lived their lives, and have to go anyway. Their g/children are their legacy and im sure a good proportion of them can see the pattern for what it is historically.
However fked the place may be theres something in most people, even in some Russian cops, which will struggle and cringe at the idea of throwing aulones and aulfellas in the wagon. Even if its the just the self saving thought of one day facing the relatives.
Not saying it would be easy at that age, but they can really shake up putins game.
Wtf do you do as a dictator trying to maintain your narrative, when faced down by old geezers calling out your tyranny. Its lose lose.
Being a pensioner won’t stop them being sent
Putins corpse hopefully will not even be picked up from bunker he is hiding in.
This message should be amplified. War is absolute hell. Support Ukraine now and help them drive the invaders out or do nothing and have press gangs roaming the streets of Warsaw , Bucharest, Vilinius , Helsinki etc in 2/3 years time.
I'm honouring the brave mourners at Navalny's funeral, something you'd be better off doing instead of throwing a tantrum and pretending the images are photoshopped just because you got shown up for your post. Shameful behaviour in this context
If I was Putin and this starts, i'd be going after the extended family and the grandchildren. What granny would protest if their kids or grandkids would be picked up and pay the price for your protesting
Exactly what he did with Prigozhin and why Prigozhin suddenly stopped his match towards the Kremlin.
Yeah I guess thats one counter move.
But if granny is related to a local police chief, or regional head honcho, or some other important goons/minions. Then hes kind of in check.
Theres have to be some of them out there that potentially have him in a double bind if they do start piping up. If their g/child is in a high position.
