Have two off gunshot, cow that had heifer knew she had a calf.
The seem very quiet and warm types.
Yeah, i’d say calving difficulty could be an issue with Gunshot. I’ve gone off Simmental cross here, they make good cows but if there’s a cow with feet or fertility problems it’s always the SimX cows, I’ll be aiming for mostly SalerX cows, a few LimX and a couple of CharolaisX. The Simmentals are that bit harder fed, they spend longer at the feed barrier imo.
Looking at "LEEHERD LYNX 364" on ICBF, under his replacement graphics, he scores poorly for Calving Diff, Feed Intake, Gestation, Cow Liveweight and TB (new one). Hard to make sense of it all.
I do like a few off them not too many but I like the look of them and the fact they have milk which is getting harder to come by. But I think they don't have the same ability to put the xtra shape into cattle
I have to agree with you on this Tanko. I’m gone the same way, I’ve 4 or 5 that will be shipped out at the end of the year. Feet is their biggest let down, hanging elders is the next issue and they often leave a slack belly on their calf. Pound for pound a powerful limo or saler will leave a better calf. I’ve a couple of lm2014 heifers here for replacements that have grown into good framey types and a vta saler that’s looking like she’s going to make the right sort.
I got talking to an elderly farmer last week while waiting to collect meal. Anyway we got talking about a lame cow that I had. He was saying that shrewd horse dealers would never touch a horse with light coloured hooves as they believed they would be inclined to get lame more. Dark hooves were better. Maybe there is something in it.
Yeah I would have always being that cows with black feet had harder feet that cattle with lighter coloured feet

See Ivor is gone. Anyone with calves off Clenagh Superior
Some amount of blues in it. I see bova have haven't anything out yet.
Anyone have a pricelist for Dovea?
Why is Ivor gone? No more semen?
Delighted with LM4598 Ampertine Magnum, 40kg bull off PD 2nd Calver. He barely hit the ground & up sucking.
Many use him? His figures went to.muck after the update wondering how his heifers turn out as I've couple straws in the tank
Haven’t used him yet, but got a few straws to put into pedigree heifers in a few weeks. Meant to be easy calved, with length and shape.
Definitely harder fed,
Anyone experiment with Speckle Park with a nt821 myostatin on continental heifers or 2nd calvers? Thinking of trying 1 or 2...
Whats the thoughts on LM8929 sterling bull from Dovea? Suitable for a cwi heifer?
No calves on the ground yet, so maybe better not use him on heifers till he has.
Any lisna sir calves on the ground have a few heifers for AI in the next few weeks was thinking he would suit. Have strong heifers 2 ch and 1 lim was even debating putting Orbi on the Limousin as he is fairly easy calved and shes a strong heifer
He’s still available apparently
Few calved this week. 1st was a Joskins heifer, mirror image of her mother. A keeper for sure
Next was a Bistouri bull(BB5214), only carried 3 days but he was well done. Fair lump of a calf.
Last then was a Cloonglasna11Socks (CH8971) heifer. Lovely calf. Not overly big and up and sucking in 20 mins.
3 more in for calving. Incalf to Bistouri, Loki and Clenagh Superior
Great calves, any issues
None so far. All calved unassisted. Try get them on hay at least 2 weeks prior to calving. Cows are fit as well as they’ve access to a crag. Bolus them 2/3 months before calving. Seems to be working well, and helps for getting back in calf
Great job, I like the look of Superior & Socks, it’s good to get knowledge on actual
Anybody had any calf's off cattanview supreme ch8541 yet what can ye tell me about him? I have one 300 days in the oven today, bones almost gone. I'm a tad concerned about her what can I expect?
I see the new Bova catalogue is up on their facebook page, surprised to see Chocolat in it, i thought he was gone.
Love when ai books have more up to date photos of bulls. Loyal is a fine specimen now
I’ve used Loyal a good bit on young cows, he’s hit and miss, i’ve a few calves that looked great as weanlings but didn’t grow much after and some off tall Simmental crosses that grew better, will try those for cows. He’s not near as good a bull as Gamin anyway, i suppose they recommend Loyal for heifers not cows. Has anyone tried Record or Ricard??
I have 1 record calf 3 months old he's a shapey calf but he looks a rib short.
Annoys me that you can't download the catalogue.
