Here’s the 2021 brochure:
https://www.volkswagen.ie/idhub/content/dam/onehub_pkw/importers/ie/models/product-guides/2021/my21_master/ID3_MY21.pdf
the one for model year 2022 was posted here too recently
I think I have a PDF of 2021 models and specs somewhere. DM me your email if that’s ok and I will send it on if I can find it.
Used please.
New or used models?
Could someone list the different id3 models in order of features/extras?
There seems to be so many different model and names of them available.
Very confusing.
I doubt it the facelift already a year early very much doubt they'll upset the apple cart again, the new one whenever it comes will I imagine get the new software and the fancy ones the new motor but at a price
So I've been looking at the 2024 ID.3
There's some good deals to be had...but I'm struggling to see the value considering it's running old hardware
I'm assuming the 2025 version will have the new motor and infotainment with the updated software. If the price stays in the same region as now then it seems like an excellent car for the money (seems possible considering the ID.4 is coming down in price despite the new hardware)
What do others think? Will the ID.3 get the new hardware or will they wait around for another refresh?
I checked my ID.3 at 60k and it was 50 kWh
Was that the "Max energy content" OR was it the "HV Battery energy content" when it was at 100%?
If it was 50kWh as the max value means you were getting even less than that at 100% SoC. That is very poor alright. Maybe you had a faulty cell/module. Some cars were recalled for that.
I must have been very unlucky with my two IDs😥. I checked my ID.3 at 60k and it was 50 kWh and the ID.4 new was only 71.5 kWh, it's down to 70 kWh now at just 40k
It is odd, but only the top and bottom 5/6% of the battery. In between there it discharges as I would expect for the % it is reducing.
I was only charging to 100% and discharging to 1% to try get a more accurate reading on Car Scanner. I'll redo it over the weekend and see what the results are.
Dont know so. It shouldnt drop at all if there is no heating on and you're going downhill. 3% for 1km is odd.
Do you have a dongle and CarScanner to see what its doing under the hood?
Heating was off when I left, so it wasn't that for the first 1km. It had dropped to 97% without any heating and a mostly down hill start to my commute.
I normally leave at 80%, the first 4km will use between 1 and 2%. This is without preheating, which I don't tend to use.
This morning the battery dropped to 97% after 1km and was down to 94% after 4km.
Cabin heating would be a likely reason. It is relatively cold the last day or two so it will be using 3kW+ when you sit in to get the cabin up to temp.
To verify, heat the cabin before you plug out and then see what you get after 4km.
My car, typically does 340kms reports long term average consumption of 17kwh/100km 3.4*17 sounds like 58kwh that's good enough for me I feel no compunction to plug it in
I rarely charge to 100% but have done twice in the last week.
This morning the battery dropped to 97% after 1km and was down to 94% after 4km. Then about 1% per 3km which is normal for me.
Used 17% battery for my normal morning commute, usually 12/13%
I normally charge to 80% and the battery discharges as normal at about 3km per 1%, no big drop at the start of trip.
At the bottom end the last 5% also drops very quickly, maybe 5/6km before it got to 1% earlier this week.
Anyone else noticed this? I don't recall it happening in the past when I charged to 100%.
For sure but unlikely there would be much demand here for another few years until a significant volume of EV’s come out of battery warranty. At least it might remove an element of the EV fear that seems to be rife with our motor industry.
There's certainly a fledgling industry in the making for independently testing and certifying batteries on used EVs isn't there?
I did check a brand new car back in 2022 and it showed 57850 for the max figure and about 56kWh at 100% SoC. Eventhough VW say you have 58kWh usable you dont actually have that usable as an owner unless you are willing to drive beyond 0%!
My own 3.5yr old car with 76k km's on it is showing 55160 max and 51600 at 100%
My car is nearly 3 years old and it was showing 55.6 kWh useable when i bought it nearly 6 months ago and that figure hasn't changed at all even though I have done nearly 15k km
So I wouldn't sweat it if I were you, just check it in a few months time , I would be surprised if you see much of a difference.
I would love to check a brand new car, I 'd be surprised if any of them have the full 58 kWh available.
Well, I ran Car Scanner on the ID.3.
Couldn’t find a simple SoH reading, like in the Ioniq. But I did find “Maximum energy content of the traction battery”, which I’m assuming is the equivalent of SoH.
Worryingly it says 55,600Wh.
Don’t know if that figure started at 58,000 or 62,000. But even at 58, that’s a 4% drop after only 9k kms.
That’s not great is it?!
Glad to be proved wrong if the above is wrong.
Downloaded the CarScanner app and connected it to the car. What are the important readings to take note of?
Has anyone else had the SOS dashboard error and managed to get it resolved successfully?
I’ve had zero issues with it other than the warning on dashboard.

Charged to 100% yesterday and will run it to as close as possible to 0% over the next days.
Even the charging to 100% showed an additional kWh so it will be interesting to see what a full 100 to 0 cycle shows.
HEATER OFF ,sweet Jebus what are you driving a first day leaf with a f'ked battery ?.
Once again a 58 kw ID3 will undoubtedly do the OP'S journey .
It will also do 250km on the motorway in winter in the rain @123kph BARELY !!!!!!
Based on nothing more than 120kms experience with two different examples of them both 58kwh both 204ho
It's not going to get 255 km at 120 km/h on a bad day in the middle of winter. But how many destinations are going to have 255 km of motorway all the way? You already said that it's about 1/3 motorway. There is a big difference in consumption if the 255 km is all motorway or just 1/3 motorway and rest at limit of 100 km/h.
What you need to take into consideration as well is what you are doing the other end of the 255 km. If you are charging with a granny cable from empty it's going to take the bones of 24 hours. You haven't said if you buying new or secondhand but would always suggest getting the biggest battery that you can afford.
274 km from dingle.
Could you not get one of the 5 seat version as per this brochure from 2022 ? ; https://www.volkswagen.ie/idhub/content/dam/onehub_pkw/importers/ie/models/product-guides/my22/ID3_MY22.pdf
Where is here? Would be helpful to know😉
I travelled to dingle from here this week and consumed 73% of the battery - that’s about 56 kWh for a 274 km journey. So yeah I’d say it’s too tight. I’m a fairly efficient driver as well. And it wasn’t cold.
